It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it?
Yes, I would love to!! I live in a small city so not much chance of one opening here sadly :( It's probably good that there is not one though, I would spend way too much money!

What would you expect to find there? / What would you want it to have?
I would expect to see a few lines of dolls and lots and lots of clothes and wigs!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I would like it to have other hobbies also; knitting and sewing supplies, miniatures, jewelry supplies, painting and art supplies - all of these would be wonderful additions and useful for the doll hobby!

    2. Would you go to it?
      Of course!

What would you expect to find there?
Everything to do with the hobby haha. Supplies, clothes, wigs, accessories and stuff.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Possibly crafting materials.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Yep in Tokyo. Was great and filled with clothes, dolls and pretty much the stuff I said above haha. Sadly didn't have any dolls at the time so I didnt buy anything but was great and would love to back in now I have a doll! :)

    3. Would you go to it?
Definitely!! It'd be great to be able to see all sorts of dolls and accessories in person and get a feel for their quality and size.

What would you expect to find there? / What would you want it to have?
I'd expect to find dolls, clothes, accessories, and tools there. I think that pretty much has all of what I'd like to see!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
For sure!! I feel that other hobbies are ultimately intertwined with BJDs, and so they'd be absolutely appreciated!

    4. oooh half of me is like hell yea where are bjd stores like I want one on my town, i dont care if its shared with other hobbies items or so.
but at the same time i think items would be so expensive and i will be ruined hahah

    5. YES!!! i would really love to go, i wanna see the people who worked really hard to produce them and i also wanna see them in the actual store *U*

    6. I wish there were more brink and mortar stores for dolls and hobbies. We had one doll shop in my city, and it closed years ago. Mostly vinyl dolls there.

    7. Would you go to it?
I absolutely would!! I'd love to be able to see things it person before I set on something!

What would you expect to find there?
Seeing dolls, replacement part and accessories would be great; any extra stuff like doll sized furniture and the like would be a bonus!

What would you want it to have?
Everything above plus maybe a cafe or lounge (or something similar) where people can socialise and talk to other people who have the same interests would be fantastic!:love

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
That would be even better! Being able to meet people who not only had the same interests, but people who could introduce you to new ones would be so great!

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      I wish :atremblin

    8. Would you go to it?
      Indeed I would. I mean, why wouldn't I?

What would you expect to find there?

Hopefully clothes, eyes, wigs, dolls etc.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Yeah, I'd be fine with it.

    9. Would you go to it?
      ABSOLUTELY!

What would you expect to find there?
BJD's and accessories/clothes/shoes in a range of prices hopefully so people with low budgets can get stuff too! (aka me ;-;)

I love the idea of being able to see and feel before you buy. Online buying just doesn't have that kind of experience sadly :/ (I still buy online but I would prefer a shop :'3)

    10. Living in the US I would love to find a BJD store filled with bjds (shocker), clothes, wigs, ect. I think I'd go there way too much and never want to leave.

    11. It would be a dream come true, I think i would be to scared to touch anything tho.
Everything would be so fragile and expensive.
Would be nice to see some dolls in person before purchase.

    12. It would be amazing to be able to visit a BJD store!!

The Volks company stores sound pretty cool, but to be honest I love the idea of an antique-style BJD shop where they sell secondhand items and dolls but also stock wigs and eyes and props in regular sizes.
I'd love this because it would be a nice tactile way to interact with the hobby, it would be more likely to be ok to handle items before you buy if they were second hand or cheaper, rather than just looking at them behind glass cabinets, and because big, expensive company products usually have lots of owner images online so you get a good idea of the products anyway (unless you're buying things when they first come out obviously).

I'd also be happy if these types of stores also stocked, say, porcelain doll merchandise and other items because it just means the shop would be more likely to succeed if it wasn't just restricted to one niche thing and lose business.

    13. I would love to go to a Bjd store. Hopefully if I get the chance the store would be a one-stop shop for everything Bjd. I would not mind if it catered to other hobbies other than Bjd.

    14. Would you go to it?
Yes I would! I wish there were some around were I live!

What would you expect to find there?
I would expect some clothing and accessories, wigs a few BJD's as well as some on display, extras (wig caps, face up tools, protective covers for doll faces, etc.).

What would you want it to have?
What I would hope to also find above what I would expect are some tutorial manuals on how to do face ups, for to restring your BJD's, etc, furniture for your doll, extra heads (Black or even ones with face ups), extra bodys, hands, feet, etc, and carrying cases. Another thing that would be cool are ether some actual classes were people could physically teach you how to restring and do face ups!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yeah!

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      N/A

    15. Would you go to it?
      Yes, course!

What would you expect to find there?
Doll outfits, eyes, wigs, accessories, face up kits, restring tools, sculpturing/modding tools, carrier bags, etc!

What would you want it to have?
Pretty much the same as above.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
If it's like doll figurines, mecha models, sewing, art painting or sculpturing, I'm perfectly fine with it.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I've been to one in my country. It was kinda small and doesn't seem very well kept.
Later I read that it's kinda banned in my country's doll forum due to some bad reputation.
They do take orders for people who needed layaway (back then there isn't layaway options in official shops if I did not remember wrongly.) I'm not sure if it's still around..

    16. I have been lucky enough to go to several doll stores in Tokyo. They range from simple suppliers with piles of parts, to exclusive, fancily styled buildings that are borderline works-of-art, inside and out. Going to the overstated one was a little daunting, but very pleasant inside, whereas the middle ground stores, with a mix of goods to rummage through, and display cabinets which show their real love of the hobby are most comfortable.

    17. I worked at one for a while LOL I actually worked at Denver Doll Emporium for a good bit! They used to have a decent sized showroom, but how since downsized to just a small entrance room. It was a lovely store and they had all kinds of dolls, not just BJD's sitting out on display. I used to get to pull out the Fairyland orders and dress and display them! Physical stores are nice, but honestly so much of the work is in the backroom filling orders that it's sometimes not necessary for a showroom. But yeah, physical stores are fun!

    18. Not where I am now, but there was one where I lived in China :)

      Would you go to it?
I especially looked for it online to go!
What would you expect to find there?
Dolls standing around, wigs, eyes, clothing for sale. Also faceup artist was there if you wanted to get a new faceup for your BJD.
What would you want it to have?
Can't really think of much more :o
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Yeah. It's located in a mall that's dedicated to anime and related hobbies so I'm cool with that!
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I liked it. It was a little intimidating at first, but after going a few times it was pretty great - being able to get stuff from a real store is different from buying online.

    19. I would LOVE to go to a brick and mortar BJD store. I wouldn't mind if they were a general purpose dolly shop, either.

I'd expect them to have a few dolls, hopefully from multiple companies, and clothes/wigs/props/etc.

In ideal world, it would basically be DDE in person lol.

    20. Definetly! I would love to pick up dolls in person, sometimes it's hard to judge a sculpt from online photos. Plus chatting with someone in person who's really knowledgeable is always great!
