Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it?
      definitely!

What would you expect to find there?
      BJD stuffs.

What would you want it to have?
clothes, props, accessories and if possible bjds from different companies/artists.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
of course it's fine. I would like to see non bjd kind of dolls there too.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
unfortunately, I haven't been to any bjd store yet ;__; I want to go ninestyle in Korea and DOLK in Japan >A<

    2. I think it would be very nice to visit a BJD store! (doable travel distance wise :sweat)
I have never been to the very few bjd stores out there like like Doll Peddler, but a store that sells bjd would likely be a specialty store for a few dolls, clothes, and furniture because bjds are so particular. I assume it would be hard to sell other products that appear unrelated (for example) like canvases for painting and lenses for cameras. But it could still be interesting to see supplementary hobbies and tools available I think.
I don't know what I'd get, but most likely I would end up just looking.... :sigh

    3. I would definitely go to one. There's a store that sells anime related stuff imported from Japan that was near me and I used to go and browse there. It was kind of funny because so much of the guy who owned its business came from online, he always recognized me when he saw me at cons out of state.

    4. Would you go to it?
Yes. Yes I absolutely would. I probably wouldn't always buy something, but I'd constantly go there just to look.

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls of different brands. Clothes. Accessories. Modification tools. Eyes. Wigs. Maintenance tools. Possibly a few art supplies. Definitely MSC.

What would you want it to have?
Same answers as above. I'd really love it if a store had everything I needed to take care of my doll.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Heck yeah! I'm all for expanding horizons. I got into the BJD hobby by clicking on a stray youtube video that was different from all the art tutorials I normally watch.

    5. Would you go to it?

Of course I would. To be honest, I don't like to order online. A physical thing, for me, is much more fun and enjoyable.

What would you expect to find there?

      Mostly clothes. Eyes maybe.

What would you want it to have?

Errything. From clothes to wigs to props to BJD themselves.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Sure, I'm not that much of a keeper.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

I've never been to one, however I would love to. One of my "place to visit" is the Smart Doll shop in Japan.

    6. Oh yes, I love going to brick-and-mortar doll shops. Nothing gives you a better sense of color/texture/quality than seeing things in person.

    7. I recently did go to Fabric Friends in MD and it was great! They had lots (and I mean LOTS!) of clothes, and were super sweet about letting us try stuff on since we have a few oddball sizes. Great selection, everyone was really nice, and it was super fun to see some brands I'm not familiar with in person! We'll definitely be back, although we have to budget carefully for that kind of shopping trip and it's a bit of a haul for us.

    8. Yes, absolutely I would go to a physical BJD store! Simply being able to see what you are buying in real life would be amazing!

    9. I was in BJD-shops in Tokyo. It was a total delight! I literally bought there everything possible!))) There is a map of Akihabara stores :)

    10. Would you go to it?
I'd definitely go check it out!

What would you expect to find there?

I'd expect everything from clothes, accessories, full dolls, parts, eyes/wigs, and furniture.

What would you want it to have?

I'd really want it to have items that are usually hard/expensive to ship out. Like large furniture pieces or full dolls. But I'd also want it to have all sort of dolly accessories and parts. I want to be able to take my doll there and maybe try on clothes or shoes or accessories or wigs or eyes or furniture or parts to resin match! Though that would be pretty hard with a) packaging b) really lazy/bad customers that would ill treat the products/store cleanliness. Working in retail/thrift, oh do I know the horror. :/

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

I guess! I'd much rather it be just BJDs, but a small part of other hobbies doesn't hurt.

    11. Woah, thank you so much for posting this! I'm actually leaving Tokyo after studying here for a year and haven't found any exciting BJD stores around my area @_@ I'll be exploring those spots before my departure!

I've been to BJD stores in Ikebukuro and Nakano and to be honest, there wasn't much excitement in looking at boxes with tags such as "Volks, such and such model, year" stamped onto them... I wish there were a ton of beautiful, perfect sized outfits for my dolls but I'm more into the unconventional doll sizes (70cm, 52cm :doh) so I wouldn't except there to be much. My dream is to visit BJD stores in Korea since Korean BJD aesthetics are more to my taste than Japanese ones.
Ideally, I wish we could bring our dolls and have them try on various wigs, eyes, and clothes~ :D That would be a BJD dream come true.

    12. Would you go to it?

Definitely ! At firts to see BJD "in real" because for those who never seen BJD, it can be a good point to go to a BJD store for discover many sculpt, realize the size, ect.....before have the first one.

What would you expect to find there?

Dolls of course, from many company, wig, eyes, clothes, material, ect....

What would you want it to have?

Diversity of dolls, every style of clothes/wig/eyes, material and why not a comission of make-up, sewig and sanding ? It will be really good !

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

      Yes, why not (^_^)

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

I never had this chance x) The first BJD I'll see will be my first doll.

    13. Tricky questions!

      Would you go to it?
Hell yes! The posibility to touch the doll and see the design is tempting. :D

What would you expect to find there?
All kind of BJD´s. Maybe some furniture and clothes fot them.

What would you want it to have?
A caffee room, or playshoot room where I can meet others. :)

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Why not. I think when someone loves bjd and MH for examle, it would be pitty to left MH at home just because it doesnt fit.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Unfortunatelly there is no bjd store at my area :(

    14. Would you go to it? YES!! I would love to have a store near me.

What would you expect to find there?
I don't know, dolls, clothes, furniture

What would you want it to have?
A Volks store would be nice.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Of course, any doll stuff is better than none.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I went into a Volks store in Japan and I was amazing! It was like a dream, I hope to go back one day!

    15. Would you go to it?
      Absolutely!

What would you expect to find there?
Probably some BJDs on display, but mostly supplies (faceup, restringing), clothes, and accessories (eyes, wigs, furniture, etc...)

What would you want it to have?
I feel like a smart decision would be to have display dolls, and then be able to fill out an order form of which one you want, as opposed to having boxes with the dolls already made. A cafe would be nice, as I know business-wise just a doll store would be hard to maintain rent in my area. (Plus the ability to have doll meets there would be awesome!)

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Totally! Like I said, I'd imagine arts and craft supplies there too, so possibly stuff for tabletop or warhammer figurines would be cool.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I haven't been to one, but I've heard nice things. I wish I could go :pout:

    16. Would you go to it? yes! def would go

What would you expect to find there?
shoes and wigs, full sets to see in person!

What would you want it to have? hopefully dolls! floating heads, parts! i would expect it to be small but charming

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? not at all! whatever it takes to hold up shop

    17. omgosh yes I would love to go to a store with many different bjd companies there !

    18. Would you go to it?
      Hell, yes!! :cheer

What would you expect to find there?

I would expect to see some dolls to buy, definitely many clothes in different doll sizes as well as eyes, wigs. Maybe extra fantasy parts to pimp my doll? Of course I also would expect proven tools to mod dolls or tools for face-ups.
I'd wish that I could bring my doll to look for fitting clothes (I have a DC Kid Queena on slenderly Kid-07 body, it's a pain to find something that suits her)

What would you want it to have?

I think it would be nice if they would also sell second hand dolls.
So you can bring your doll, you want to sell.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

It's okay, I think a BJD only shop wouldn't work out. But I think it should be something similar, maybe toys in general, starting with dolls of any kind?

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

Sadly there is none around my place, afaik :sorry

    19. I would totally got to a physical BJD store. I actually did go to one on a trip to Tokyo, Japan once. It was Dolk, but it was super tiny---not at all what i expected. It was like a tiny shop and it was located in a very quiet neighborhood in akihabara. There was mostly accessories, clothes, eyes, etc. I saw dolls but they were in cases and dressed up for display. They looked so lovely. Would i go again? Not sure, it gave me an eerie feeling, so i'd rather not. I might try again but with Volks next time lol.

What i was hoping to see was a more inviting and cheerie atmosphere with a larger space to walk around and gawk at. <3

    20. I am lucky enough to live an hour away from a physical BJD store. I just joined a UFDC club that meets there and focuses on BJD's. It's pretty awesome. It is nice to be able to see stuff in person and talk with people who are familiar with stuff bought from there. I like being able to see wigs and clothes in person. The owner is nice enough that we can try most of the stuff on our dolls before buying. If I wanted to I could make layaway payments in person, pick up a doll I ordered without having to pay shipping from the store to me.

Downside is I see WAY more stuff I want to spend money on ><
