Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. In Italy they aren’t bjd stores. But I was in Tokyo, last November. I went to the Volks store and I seemed to dream! I bought my Nico in the Mado.
I would like a bjd shop here, but there are few collectors:pout:

    2. Would you go to it? OMG YES

What would you expect to find there? BJD and everything that goes with them

What would you want it to have? I would love for it to have a wide array of things

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? meh

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? :'( I wish

    3. Would you go to it?
Yes I would love to! because hard to find the physical bjd store

What would you expect to find there?
      Everything!

What would you want it to have?
clothes, wig, shoes, some accessories too

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yes I wouldn't mind

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have. but not so many item sadly

    4. Would you go to it?
      Yes, definitely.

What would you expect to find there?
      Mostly clothes, wigs and accessories.

What would you want it to have?
Dollmore Lusion dolls and Spirit Doll Dulce dolls in stock. I like the idea of owning such an 80cm doll because the size would make them more eye-catching, lifelike and easier to sew for, I think. However, I can't decide whether or not the size and weight would be too much of a nusance. The easiest way to find out would be to go to the store and lift one off the shelf before deciding whether or not to buy it. If I hated the size of the Lusion, I'd feel better about buying an Illua doll (mini-lusion). I'm much more likely to buy an illua doll anyway because they are so much more affordable but, the lower price wouldn't be quite enough to get the Lusion dolls out of my head.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Yes. I like other types of dolls too and if the store had sewing suppllies for doll clothes making, that would be great.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      N/A

    5. I would love, love, love a physical bjd store! I'm a very hands on person and that's the only thing that sucks about bjds is you can't physically see the doll until it arrives. I think a store would allow many enthusiasts to determine how they like the posability of certain sculpts or the feel of different resins. I think also this store should offer a workshop where they teach bjd classes on the side as well such as matinence and basic face ups! That'd be awesome!

    6. Hopefully one day I'll get to go to one in japan, that would be great!

    7. I'd love to. But unfortunately, there are none in my area... I'd love to buy clothes and accessories for my dolls!

    8. Would I go to a bjd store?
Heck yes! I always wanted to go to mint on card but never made it :/

What would I expect to find?
Clothes, wigs, eyes and dolls or a doll catalogue

What would I want it to have?
Clothes, wigs, eyes dolls or display dolls at least. I’d want to ability to come in with my dolls and maybe have an area set up which I could try clothes, eyes and wigs on or sit and chats could happen. I’d also like the ability to play with display dolls-test them out and make sure I like the body before making a purchase

      Other types of hobbies?
Sure i wouldn’t mind seeing other kinds of dolls or toys. I also wouldn’t mind if the store sold comic books or magic cards or even art supplies. Any kind of nerd/collecting hobby would be a neat addition to the doll aspect and it may even bring in additional customers who stop in for that aspect and stumble onto abjd.

    9. Would you go to it?
There used to a doll store in town that carried some bjd's (Peakswood, Elfdoll and others) that I loved going to, sadly it has closed now as the owner was retiring :(

What would you expect to find there?
When I first found the store, I didn't know that she carried some bjd's and was beside myself with utter joy when I saw what she had: wigs, shoes, outfits etc that I was allowed to try on my dolls before I made any purchases!

What would you want it to have?
Wigs and shoes definitely to try on, glass eyes in various sizes to play around with. It would also be nice if she had carried some doll carriers, restringing tools and elastics in various sizes to do doll maintenance. Doll furniture would be nice or some background scenery props.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Everything she had was doll related from play line baby dolls for little girls, Tonner dolls, Himstedts, etc which was really fun to just go any play around.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Awesome and I miss it so much :...(

    10. Yes, I'd go to a physical BJD store. I'd expect dolls, clothes, accessories and even props, but I'd probably want it to have other things like materials for face ups, and the such. I'd be fine if it had other hobbies there as well. I mean Volks deals with multiple hobbies and its one of the most fun things about it when you're in Japan.

    11. I read thru all the posts, but I have a question to add...what BJD's would you want or expect to see? There are soooo many, but there must be some that are "most popular"?? Which would you want??

    12. I think looking at the popular tags on the site would be a good place to start. Doll Chateau, Dollzone, Fairyland, Volks, Iplehouse, Luts, Soom, and hopefully a few small time artists' dolls would be nice.

Why, are you thinking to start one?

    13. If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

I've been to the Volks USA store in Torrance, CA [while visiting family who live out there!]. It was an awesome experience and got to talk about dolls and hold some of my dream dolls at the time. I would love to visit another!! :D I know if I had lived out there, I would have gone frequently haha.

    14. Would you go to it?
Absolutely. Picture online are cool and all but nothing beats seeing products in person.

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls, assembled and ready for purchase. Wings, clothes, parts, hobby crafting materials etc. Basically anything bjd related.

What would you want it to have?
Dolls ready for purchase as well as upcoming dolls for preorder. I think some shops in Japan even have staging area for pictures so that'd be a really awesome addition.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Yes. Other hobbies, especially crafty ones would be great because of the supply overlap. Plus you can broaden your horizons while still enjoying bjds.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have been to a couple in Japan but that was before I got obsessed with BJDs so I didn't really know what I was looking at. In retrospect I should have taken a closer look, but one of the stores was very spacious with very few items actually in it. It was almost like a gallery show with a merch table. I did see a couple of collectors there with their own dolls to show others, It was pretty cool.

    15. I'd love to! I used to (like a lot of peopld here, I'd imagine) fantasise about opening such a shop. It's unrealistic though. I live in a small town, the stock would be so expensive and I think only a handful of peopld in my whole country (Ireland) are probably collectors.

    16. Would you go to it?
Yes I would love to go to one and actually see everything in person. None around me though.

What would you expect to find there?
Lots of clothes and shoes dolls, wigs

What would you want it to have?
Some popular brands like dollzone, doll chateau, I'd love to see echotown dolls in person. Shoes lots of shoes they're the hardest thing to shop for online because you never know if they will be too big or what the craftsmanship
      really looks like.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Sure why not

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have not been to one yet

    17. I would love to visit a BJD store or even own one. Getting to physically see all the different dolls available in person would be so much better. Kinda like a build a Bear where u go through all the dolls from sizes an colors from different designers to then picking out their eyes hair and clothes. Along w the extras like pets or even furniture.

    18. I have yet to but I would love to. There is one 3 hours south of us, so maybe this summer, we will make the trek! I would really love to go to a Volks store though! Someday! :aangel:

    19. Would you go to it? Yes!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls, clothes, wigs, accessories, etc. I remember I loved the American Girl store in NYC when I was younger; I would want something like that, except for BJDs, and a bit more all-ages.

What would you want it to have? I would definitely want some dolls on display.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? I mean, as long as they are related/overlap, why not!

    20. Would you go to it?
Absolutely! Even if it was a bit of a drive.

What would you expect to find there?
A few choice brands of dolls and accessories for them.

What would you want it to have?
What I would WANT is assembled dolls as well as parts (heads, hands, heel feet), clothes, accessories, props, wigs, eyes, and customizing items like pastels and paint.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Totally! I imagine model hobbiests would do grand there. Buy your model trains and cars and talk to us about miniature things!

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have never been to one, to be honest I thought these were only a thing in like...Tokyo? Have to go to google to see if I am near one now!
