1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it? Absolutely!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls with clothes & accessories

What would you want it to have? everything you need to customize your doll

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? No, I think it would be overwhelming

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? No, I haven't.

    2. YES!!!! I have been to one in Denver Colorado US ( Denver Doll Emporium), I did not visit a second-hand BJD store in a Madarake when I was in Japan back in 2019. I visited the Smart doll store and an Azone store they were cool and I would like to visit more doll stores when next I go back.

    3. I'm just waiting for my first trip to Japan. I'll definitely visit a doll shop or two! I'm sure just seeing so much dolly stuff and being able to buy anything without long shipping times from Asia are going to make me giddy!

I already fear for my wallet...

    4. I would absolutely love to go to a physical store and just bask in all the majesty of being around dolls and doll clothing/accessories in a physical shared space :'3

Mostly been watching youtube videos lately of people visiting the Nine9 Style cafe in Korea and the Volks store in Japan. If I have the means when this pandemic settles down a bit, I would love to just hop on a plane and go to Korea and Japan :(

    5. Would you go to it? Yes, does such a critter exist?

What would you expect to find there? Well I guess it would depend what doll companies they were an authorized dealer for. But, I'd expect to find at least those companies most popular dolls. Clothes, eyes, wigs, etc. Maybe they might even be able to make custom clothes/wigs.

What would you want it to have? See above.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? I guess.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? Does such a critter exist anywhere near Philadelphia.

    6. I would love to go to physical store, but there isnt any in my country. At least not that I have heard of.
Are there physical stores in any of your countries?

    7. Yes, I’ve been to doll stores many times. Been to Azone, Dollpoint, Dolk, Dollce, Dollyteria, Geestore and Mandarake in Tokyo and Osaka. Would like to visit the Azone Factory Shop in Shonan one day!

    8. I would absolutely love this. I was actually googling earlier to see if there *was* anywhere I could buy in person, rather than order online and wait ages. Not only am I impatient, but I dislike paying lots of money for something I've never seen in real life! Sadly, there are none here.

    9. Would you go to it?
      - Omg YES!

What would you expect to find there?
      - BJD Clothes and wigs. Some diorama, a place you can photoshoot

What would you want it to have?
      - I would go crazy on wigs and clothes and prolly spend all my money there

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      - Prolly paired up with figurines. That store would be heaven for me

I've always wanted to go to Korea's Switch Platina. Prolly when this covid ease down and we all can start to travel again. The first place I'll go to is gonna be there:chibi

    10. Would you go to it?
Absolutely! I would be a regular.

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls, heads, bodies, clothes, wigs, eyes, accessories and care tools like new elastics and stringing tools etc.

What would you want it to have?
      Same answer as previous.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I would'nt mind, some hobbies cross well with BJDs and catering to a larger customer base would help the business to stay afloat.

    11. There used to be an in-person doll shop called Kerby Lane in Texas. They had other OT dolls there, but were also an authorized Volks dealer and sold both clothes and dolls. I owned an off-topic Volks 1/6 dollfie from that store and a small Notdoll tiny. I feel so lucky that I was able to go there when I was first becoming interested in the hobby, but it's sadly closed down now. I miss it very much!! :(

    12. Id love to go to an actual bjd shop one day. I'd probably spend a fortune but that would be deffinitely one of the best days :)

    13. A dream come true

    14. YEEEES ! And that was really a wonderful experience for sure. I could see the real details which I couldn't notice on internet and I can feel how they look in real life. Sometimes ppl make the picture not that real on internet, you know.

    15. Would you go to it? Absolutely!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls, dolls, dolls, from every doll studio. And clothes, eyes, wigs, maintenance tools - everything.

What would you want it to have? They should have samples and trained personnel to help you customize, show you comparisons, etc.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? No, I would prefer a BJD-only store. Maybe dolls-only.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? Not yet, but it is on my bucket list to visit a store someday. I wish we had more physical stores in Europe. Is there any?

    16. I live just close enough to DDE to drive there, but just far enough for it to be too far away for a regular visit! Luckily I am probably going to school in a few years under 30 minutes away from them, so I’ll be stopping by very frequently

    17. Would you go to it? YES!

What would you expect to find there? I would hope wigs, shoes and clothing.

What would you want it to have? See answer to Question #2 Plus Furniture

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Oh sure can't expect if it's not in an area that is well known that it can make all it's money from BJD items.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? I have been to Denver Doll when it was a nice large operation, and when it's been down to a large room. I loved the first version more. I was also able to go to Mint on Card, I think it was name of store, when they were open. They were in Traverse City MI and I went when on vacation in area at least 3 times.

    18. I wish! I'd spend a lot of time (and money) in one, were it around here.

I'd expect it to have dolls *and* plenty of clothes and accessories (wigs, eyes, shoes)

Other hobbies? Yes, of course! As long as the space was shared evenly.

    19. I moved to Japan last year and live about 2 hours away from the nearest mandarake and volks store. I can't believe I didn't think to go visit on my winter holidays!

I'll probably be looking for doll clothes when I do go, but I will have to set a hard budget for myself.

    20. I haven't read this thread, but I wanted to answer these questions before I go through 700+ posts. :o:lol:

Would you go to it? Yes! I'd just have to mask up first because, COVID. :shudder

What would you expect to find there? BJDs, clothes, accessories, props, furniture, maybe even some snacks so that people could have meetups inside the store.

What would you want it to have? Snacks, nice places to sit, dioramas for photoshoots, a variety of doll-sized accessories for sale, doll clothes, pet dolls for BJDs, doll furniture, and more of many different sizes so that people that own BJDs can come get whatever they need or want for their dolls.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Yes, especially if it was video games, manga, anime DVDs, board games, RPG game books and dice, gamer t-shirts, Japanese snacks and drinks, you know, typical nerdy stuff.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? Soon after I got into this hobby, I actually knew of a physical store near me! I think I was their only IRL customer, which was very sad. Many people from the neighborhood went inside, would look at the prices of the dolls and other items, then would leave. I suppose they didn't realize that BJDs are collector dolls, not made for the average 5 year old child to throw around their bedroom and leave on the floor for the cat or dog to chew on. It went under after a year or so, and the owner moved out of state. :(

I'm going to go read this thread and cheer myself up.
