1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it?
Yes!!!I will visit the store 24/7!!IF I have one in Fairbanks, Aalska!
What would you expect to find there?EVERY THINGS! CLOTHES and DOLLS!
What would you want it to have?

I love to collect them if I can!Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
of course! I love to see different hobbies :D
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I never have a chance to see a physical store the place I lived, but I am going to Taiwan to visit many in this summer :D
I sure I will love it and spend all the time as I can to do doll meet up :P

    2. Would you go to it?
      Heck yeah I would!

What would you expect to find there?
Mostly clothes but I'd love to see full dolls too *o*

What would you want it to have?
A little bit of everything! Clothes, eyes, wigs, dolls etc..

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yes. :3

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Nope but I think there may be one in NYC??? I really should look into it.

    3. I would love to go to a physical bjd store. Think Pink isn't far from where I live but they don't have the dolls I want in store - you have to pre-order them.
Might be fun to buy some clothes and accessories there though. Definitely a good idea.

    4. Yes, it's really fun going to BJD Store:aheartbea

    5. I would love to visit a physical BJD store! Seeing things online is just not the same as seeing them in stores. I would really want to see clothes more than actual dolls.

    6. I did went once to a BJD physical store and just loved it ! I think I'll go back soon^^

    7.
    8. Would you go to it?
      Yep!

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls, clothes, wigs, shoes, underwear, some tools, wig caps, etc.

What would you want it to have?
A wide variety of everything listed above, plus maybe faceup services. I liked another user's idea of a Games Workshop kind of shop, with areas for crafts/painting/photography/etc.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
My generalized answer to this is yes, but it would somewhat depend on the other hobby. I imagine it would be a similar hobby, or at least attract similar customers, but if the shop also catered to ... gun collecting ... then I might be less inclined to pay them a visit (I mean no offense to gun collectors, I'm just terrified of them).

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
It was lovely the first couple of times I visited, but the first time I went there to shop it had been downsized and now going there isn't something I do often. I live within 30 minutes of a well-known physical store and the downsizing has made it so that I pick my items before I go so I can get them and get out. I don't dawdle, because there's nothing to look at anyway.

    9. Would you go to it?
      Of course!

What would you expect to find there?
      Dolls, wigs, clothes, accessories, etc...
General supplies like elastic and hooks.

What would you want it to have?
Maybe clay, apoxie and other sculpting/faceup material. Sewing materials like buttons, lace and other things maybe even fabrics and yarn.
The possibility of having clothes made to fit your doll.
Courses. Like sewing courses, shoe making courses, painting courses (maybe even faceup courses), wig making courses, sculpting courses...
It would be awesome if it also offered a casting service.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Maybe something related, it wouldn't bother me if it had other dolls. It could be nice if it had a photography section. Maybe an art corner too...
Doll collectors are often interested in crafts so I'll say most crafting hobbies will be fine.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      Oh I wish I did...

    10. Would you go to it?
      Yes, a dream come true!!

What would you expect to find there?
As many company's dolls as possible. And as many accessories as possible (wigs, clothes, eyes, etc).

What would you want it to have?
In a dream world, everything! Dolls, clothes, supplies...

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
That would be no problem UNLESS they could just use the room to bring in more BJD related stuff.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      No, maybe one day?

    11. Would you go to it?
I would. Even if the store was small it would be nice to stop by once in a while and see what they have and maybe buy something in person for a change rather than ordering online.

What would you expect to find there?
Some dolls, doll clothes, wigs, eyes, furniture, some related art supplies maybe?

What would you want it to have?
Everything. It would be great to have all the bjd related products in one place, fabric, lace, clothes, finished wigs and fiber for making your own, dyes, paints and sealants, books and dolls of course... And a bus that goes there from my house....

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Nah. If the store had everything bjd relared in it there would not be any space for anything else....

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Have never been to one :/

    12. I'd love to go to a physical BJD store. It would be like Christmas..I wouldn't mind if it had other hobby stuff in it as long as the BJD section was HUGE

    13. Would you go to it? HECK YES!

What would you expect to find there? All types of sizes, shapes and colors!

What would you want it to have? Fairyland dolls!!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? mmm prob not. I think I would like strictly BJD things.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? No, I have not. I am visiting Denver soon. Maybe I can hit up Denver dolls!

    14. Would you go to it?
      In a heartbeat.

What would you expect to find there?

Preferably lots and lots of beautiful dolls and doll related accessories.

What would you want it to have?

A catalog of all their products past/present/future would be amazing.
Books related to the hobby like pattern books and the like would be wonderful too.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

As long as they don't overshadow the doll stuff I wouldn't mind.

    15. If you had a physical store devoted to BJD in your area:

      Would you go to it?
Of course! I would love to see all the different types of dolls up close and personal!

What would you expect to find there?
Various doll sculpts, doll clothes, doll tools, doll furniture, doll stands and doll accessories.

What would you want it to have?
Besides the items I would expect to find there, I would want to have a knowledgeable staff. The staff could provide assistance in doll and doll item section and, hopefully, be able to provide repair services.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Of course! I would be especially excited if one of these hobbies included a cute fashion, such as Lolita fashion.

    16. Would you go to it?
      I would.

What would you expect to find there?
Items for BJDs of all sizes. Clothes, shoes, eyes, props, etc. Maybe a showcase of some sort to show off dolls.

What would you want it to have?
All of the above. It'd be nice if they were a dealer for various brands and could act as a go-between for different companies. Photo or crafting areas for rent would be nice too, especially if they had some items to use there (backdrops, props, dremel, etc). Having a little café attached to it would be good for bringing in people that wouldn't spend big bucks on a doll, but might drop a few dollars on coffee and a snack. Having a consignment shop and an onsite doll hospital would be nice too.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Sure! It could even be a full doll store with other sorts of nice dolls and their accessory bits rather than just focusing on BJDs.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I went to a couple doll stores when I lived in Japan. Mandrake either does or doesn't have doll things based on their stock, plus all sorts of other cool things to look at. I went to a couple Volks stores around Tokyo and they have an elegant boutique feel to them. I've also seen shops in Akihabara selling DD and accessories for them. They're all very nice! I didn't buy anything at the time, but I'm sure I will if I ever wind up in Japan again.

    17. I would love to go t a physical BJD store so I could touch and feel the dolls I am interested in. The closest one is Denver Doll so 12hours from my home. Does anyone know of another shop in the SW US, Texas?

    18. I'm curious about a physical BJD store and if I were not traveling with my family at that time (they don't like them), why not? It would be nice to actually browse through one and get whatever I want on the spot without any worries about customs or shipping.

    19. Would you go to it?

Of course I would if it weren’t too far!

What would you expect to find there?

Dolls, though I would expect they wouldn’t have the widest selection, maybe from a few companies at most. I would also expect they’d have limited stock of some of the dolls and in some cases, you would still end up ordering and waiting for doll, but through them. It’s not practical to keep expensive dolls in stock, when realistically the demand is somewhat limited. I’d also expect clothes and accessories.

What would you want it to have?

I’d want it to have display dolls that you can look at and touch, and great customer service so that I’d want to buy there over directly through the company. If they had an in-house person who did things like custom face-ups, that would be amazing!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Not at all! BJDs are a niche market, stocking other types of dolls, asian goods, model supplies is just fine and would help the store sustain itself.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

      Unfortunately I have not been!

    20. Would you go to it?
Absolutely. I would probably impulse buy more often though >.<

What would you expect to find there?
I think it would be cool if they had new BJDs and consignment BJDs. Wigs, clothes and eyes.

What would you want it to have?
Where you could sell or trade in a "used" bjd in good condition.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I think they would have to have other hobbies to keep it running.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
