Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. [h=2]Would you go to a physical BJD store?[/h]
If you had a physical store devoted to BJD in your area:

Would you go to it? I would love to go to a physical BJD store. As it is, I am finding that I love going to conventions and swap meets in the hopes of finding things.

What would you expect to find there? I would expect to find a variety of accessories, clothes, and wigs in several sizes.

What would you want it to have? I would want it to have an assortment of doll things, and maybe even a few dolls.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? It would actually be logical for a BJD store to sell things related to other types of doll hobbies, like fashion dolls and American Girl dolls.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? I have yet to go to a physical BJD store, but I would love the chance to check one out!

    2. Would you go to it?
      Yes, a lot.

What would you expect to find there?
Lots of dollies, their accessories and clothing. A BJD version of a Build a Bear shop.

What would you want it to have?
Mostly eyes, wigs, shoes, and some clothes.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
As long as they were doll or toy related.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Never been, but someone I know was thinking of doing a road trip vacation to one. :D

    3. I would totally go if there was one here in CA :( I would want to physically see the doll in real life and see what their faceup looks up close and their size would be because I feel like the promotional pictures they put up don't even compare with how they look in real life sometimes (both good and bad) :/

    4. I would absolutely go to a physical BJD store, and I'd hope they'd have a range of dolls themselves as well as clothes and wigs. I would much prefer buying dolly things once I've had a look at them in person and got to handle them just a little. I'd be more comfortable spending so much money that way without the fretting over whether or not things will fit or go together :)

    5. Would you go to it?
Yes, A pity that Domuya shifted out of my country before I got hooked on the hobby.

What would you expect to find there?

Dolls from various companines or inhouse dolls, clothing, wigs, shoes, etc

What would you want it to have?

An ordering/spree service for non stock clothing line especially if there's enough orders for one company or another.
Rental cubicles for folks who want to sell off their doll stuff.
An area to trade in their stuff, either for goods or cash.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

I'm okay with it, especially if its related to doll crafting, videogames and anime. (kinda like the Volks Hobby store)

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

I kinda miss Domuya, it was airy and lovely with the bjds on display, a selection of clothing here and there. Themed bjd display (i.e Dollmaster related)
Volks, Parabox and Mandarake was a great experience, being able to see the dolls that are on sale and stuff. (Akiba, Osaka, Kyoto) I was still 1/6 playscale back then and hadn't really caught on with bjd yet. It was truely awesome going through the head/bodies combination, picking out clothes and wigs. Finding this or that hard to find outfit. The indecision in wanting this or that outfit. I lose track of time there.

Would love to go back again and see how I react now that I have bjds

    6. Yes! Would love to go to a bjd store.

    7. If there were one available in my country I'd love to! But sadly the doll community in Denmark isn't big enough for a bjd store ^^'
But if I came across one I'd totally check it out! :D

    8. I would LOVE to go to a physical BJD store! I know no other BJD collectors IRL so I think it would be a nice experience!

    9. Yes, I would love that. I dont really expect that they would have lots of in-stock dolls (maybe preorders?) , but I would love if they had doll clothing and shoes that you can actually try on before buying.

    10. If you had a physical store devoted to BJD in your area:

Would you go to it? Hell's yeah!

What would you expect to find there? wigs, shoes, outfits, stands, accessories, miniatures, furniture, eyes- If they are a dealer- than show-room dolls.

What would you want it to have? See above. The more variety the better. Hopefully the ability to try on things like shoes and wigs which can be tricky. Dolls available for purchase would be cool- but impractical I think since they are so expensive and would need to sell relatively quickly (since most resin tends to yellow after a while and probably lose value)

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Oh sure- especially since I can't imagine running a BJD store front would be particularly profitable.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? *Sniff* I have never been to one. If I ever visit Tokyo though (a trip I have been planning for so long) - I have an entire list of places I need to visit...

    11. I'd love to have a BJD store. I'd go there so often, especially if they sold dolls, clothes, shoes, wigs, and even little accessories. Maybe even other tools for the hobby, like MSC. I'd have the perfect excuse to take my doll out, I know that, because I would bring my doll with my every time I went. (Unless it was a shop like Volks)

    12. Totally would. I wish one would open up in Missouri.

    13. Would you go to it?
      Yes, definitely!

What would you expect to find there?
Doll accessories to buy and dolls dressed up!

What would you want it to have?
Possibly coffee and tea. I love the idea of a coffee shop setup with dolls displayed with accessories to buy. They have these in Korea.. :3

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Hmm. I don't know. I think I'd prefer just BJD's.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have never been. *cries* One day, I hope. The idea of opening one interests me tho! :D Just not sure how popular it would be in the U.S. :/

    14. Would you go to it?
Of course, depending on what is sold there.

What would you expect to find there?
      Wigs, Dolls, Clothes, Accessories :D

What would you want it to have?
Silk gowns in particular because I cant seem to find any for my MSD :(

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure! Well, if it was specifically a BJD store then it would probably be weird to have other stuff in there if it's not doll-related.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Never been to one but I plan to go to one :( Sadly, I haven't seen any in Texas.

    15. Would you go to it? Yes, I definitely would!

What would you expect to find there? dolls, clothes, eyes, wigs, shoes, other accessories and showroom. And even better if it also had furniture/miniatures.

What would you want it to have? Casual clothes in MSD and yo-sd size, mori girl type of clothes in the same sizes, shoes, glass eyes, wigs of different materials so you can choose what you prefer, miniatures/furniture, accessories, ideally also an area to do meetings.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? It wouldn't be a problem to me.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? I've been to a couple of Mandarake (the one in Shibuya and Akihabara) and Volks (Harajuku, Akihabara, Shinjuku and Ginza) stores in Tokyo. It was really awesome for once to see what you want before buying, seeing, touching it, being able to analyse it. The amount of stuff was a bit overwhelming in a way, so much to look at and so much to buy!! haha I actually ended up buying a doll in the store they have in Harajuku, and wigs, eyes and shoes. Probably to me the most amazing thing was being able to see the eyes in person before buying them, seeing the different colour shades and knowing when you were buying them that those ones were the ones. I wish I could do that always, buying the things in a physical store, I think it would save all of us a lot of money from buying so many things (when you're trying to find that one wig or pair of eyes you want/fit your doll perfectly).

    16. There's a doll store up the road, but they don't keep many of the BJDs there. It's mostly those other sorts that creep me the heck out. I'm not sure if I would go to one, to be honest... Not like I could make an immediate purchase there.

    17. Would you go to it? The hard part would be keeping me OUT!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls, eyes, wigs, maybe a nice little section for clothes, accessories, and furniture. :)

What would you want it to have? Honestly, just being able to see the dolls in-person would help me a lot, because it can be hard to tell how much you really want a doll when all you see are photos on the Internet. But maybe it could have workshops from time to time on faceups and other doll customization/maintenance skills, to help newbies learn?

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Sure, why not? ^^ You can find cool stuff from one craft or hobby to crossover with another one sometimes.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? Nope. I don't think there's one anywhere near me. Tuesday Morning sometimes has the ABS kinds, but resin dolls just aren't sold in any store I've been to.

    18. Would you go to it? Oh yeah I would love to go to something like that.
Would you expect the find there? Dolls from various companies, clothes for various sized dolls, eyes, props, I would expect they would have various care products like MSC or paints for faceups, or pastels. Maybe a bit of all of it.
What would you want it to have? I would want there to be classes like the ones at Michael's but catered to dolls instead of general art things. Also the ability to see dolls in person as opposed to just company photos that I assume are on some level manipulated to be as appealing as possible. Also that would be a great opportunity to meet some doll people in person in a nice safe public environment.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? I think that it would make sense to have like figures or like models there as well. I don't think I would mind regardless of the hobbies in said store.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? I have not been to one. I would really really like to go to one thought.

    19. Would you go to it?

heck yeah I would! Shipping is expensive and I'd much rather save money by going to a store.

What would you expect to find there?

Clothes, eyes, wigs, tools and art materials etc. The standard stuff.

What would you want it to have?

All of the above ;p Plus it'd be cool if they carried a few dolls too. Furniture and props would also be nice, as well as various craft materials for those of us who make stuff for our dolls (maybe a section with fabric/ribbons/thread, sealants, glues, paints etc etc).

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Of course! Most people in the BJD hobbies have lots of other hobbies too, so I'm sure most of us would be quite happy if there were other things there.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

      N/A :c

    20. Yes I would having been in a hobby of collecting various other dolls and figurines for many years I've always loved physical stores to see displays as well as other accessories
