Would you own a doll with this facial expression?

May 23, 2014

    1. I'd love to own her, though I'd feel uneasy looking over at my shelf and seeing that expression. ^^;

    2. Oh jeeryama, she always sells what I need!! I checked RD and couldn't find her head for sale! I have to go look at evilbay now...

    3. I agree with 4kix, here. The artist did well capturing the emotion on the doll's face, but I don't think I would want to own her. Like others have said, it would be kinda depressing to look at her. 0.o

    4. She's the kind of doll that I'd own along w/a head/faceplate w/o the angst - so I could use her sad face in photo shoots but then the character's usual face would be the other head....

    5. i don't think i would want to own her. maybe if she had a face that was normal or smiling but not with just a sad face. It wouldn't be nice if she was always sad.

    6. I don't see myself owning a doll with such strong facial expression. Same thing with the sleeping faceplates. I've seen a lot of beautiful ones but they're just not for me.

    7. She is absolutely gorgeous and the expression captures the emotion well, but I don't think she is my cup of tea. The emotion is a bit much for me but I'm sure she would be the perfect addition to someones collection, especially if the head is sold separate for people to customize their dolls a bit more for photos.

    8. Nope. I honestly don't want to see her again either. /shrug/

    9. I totally know what you're talking about. She is a beautiful doll, but it would make me so sad to have her. Still, she is an amazing work of art and I can't help but admire her.

    10. I think Souldoll came out with a couple of sculpts like this, too... They had faceups that were a bit more extreme with tears and whatnot, but they looked so sad like Mona I almost wanted to buy one just so I could give it a hug D': But I probably wouldn't be able to keep such a sad dolly, I already have one semi-sad looking boy that I can't resist cuddling every time I walk by, and his sculpt was pretty neutral to begin with XD

      I do think they are pretty versatile sculpts, however, and like it was said above, given a different faceup there's quite a variety of facial expressions you could end up with. Just the same as with any doll, I suppose XD

    11. oh thats...shes a handful lol

      i personally think she's kinda ugly. then again i dont care for any sad dolls. it's done really well just it's so, saaad lol like i think seeing her all the time would depress the living you know what outta me. i'm not even crazy about super happy ones. i think the really expressive faces look too frozen. they feel sorta fake ya know?

      even though i think she sorta ugly i do get why people could like stuff like that, if you do alot of photoshoots she could be really useful for all kind of fun stories.

    12. She looks just like a crying child. As has been pointed out, the artist did a great job of capturing the expression. But it's too sad for me to want to look at every day.

    13. noooooooooooo

    14. If she was in my doll budget I would think about getting her.

    15. I think she is absolutely beautiful
      but I couldn't own her. her sad face makes me want to hug her, and I probably would.... all day long ... and I'd never get anything done (^_^);

    16. I love her.very sweet expression. But I would like to have a ' normal ' looking head too. So I can switch. But yes I would buy her if I had the money :)

    17. I think it's a really beautiful sculpt that would be great if it were a faceplate/head option along with a normal expression. However overall I don't think I'd want a doll that was forever crying. ^^;

    18. I think this is awesome! I love seeing sculptors go out on a limb and try something different.

      That said, she'd be more appealing to me if she had a smiling alternate head or faceplate. Can you imagine having a doll that came with a full range of emotions in different faceplates? That would be amazing! I know Unoa and Pukifee has that, but I have not seen in on a 60cm size range doll yet, and I think it is a missed opportunity.

      If I collected more realistic dolls, I would definitely consider buying Mona.

      If the companies/artists who did any of the sculpts that I own were to ever make alt versions of them with different expressions, I would love it, and I would definitely buy one if I could so that my doll could change heads to change expression.

      However, as it is, I'd rather have a doll with a subtle expression that can be interpreted in different ways, versus an extreme expression like this if this is the ONLY head and you can't change it. I'm surprised people think it'd be depressing to have such a sad-faced doll... for me it's the opposite, I think she'd look too plain funny with her face stuck like that. It's like what your mother might've told you "don't make that expression too long or your face will get stuck!" ;)

    19. I think she's an amazing sculpt, but like a lot of people here, I couldn't own her. I rely on my dolls to make me feel happy and lighthearted when I look at them. That's not the effect Mona would have!

    20. I wouldn't want to own her.. The expression is extreme and I can only imagine someone wanting her for some brutal scenery >.> Maybe my imagination runs wild here ;D
