Would you own a doll with this facial expression?

May 23, 2014

    1. Every time I look at dolls, I somehow come across her. I instantly feel terrible. I look at dolls to make me happy and to see a sad doll makes me sad. The sculpt is nice, but I don't think I could own her.

    2. I absolutely love Mona but I would feel guilty owning her. Ringdoll is such an amazing company.
I think that their dolls have great expressions. I mean, if you look at the things that they make (Frankenstein and the Zombie for example) you can tell that they really like dolly diversity.

So, no - I couldn't bring myself to buy a forever sad doll. It's not because I don't like her though.

    3. Mona is very interesting and definitely a unique sculpt, but not what I would own. I do appreciate bjd companies coming out with something totally different and unexpected though. Yay for creativity!

    4. Personally, I can't see anything pretty or significant about this doll. Her expression restricts a lot of what you can actually do with her. I would never own her, because while the sculpt is very artistic and outside-of-the-box, it's really not something I'd invest a lot of money in to have - it's depressing, really! *_*

    5. I'd love to see her with a faceup where the corners of her mouth are painted to be a little upward, and her eyebrows less harshly furrowed - perhaps even a little raised. To me, with a faceup like that it could almost look like she was laughing. But as she is, no, I couldn't own her looking so sad!

    6. Her expression is absolutely incredible! However, I personally wouldn't be able to own her, as I would feel too sad every time I saw her sorrowful little face :atremblin

    7. When I first saw her I was really surprised, because I had never seen a doll until then with that kind of intense expression. I was so used to the more neutral, semi-smile sort of expressions, it was kind of too much for me. Now that I've seen more images of her, I think she's beautiful in a way, but I could never own her. She's almost too depressing to look at, in a way, for me.

    8. I think she's absolutely beautiful, and a beautifully sculpted doll, but I would probably never own her only for the reason I wouldn't know what to do with her. She's very pretty, but I wouldn't be able to think of a way to make her unique and beautiful. I'll leave that to other people to do. * v *

    9. When I first saw a picture of Mona, she was set up with no joints showing, and was positioned just right so I ended up thinking it was a picture of an actual person! I really like the sculpt and it's beautiful, but I would personally want more versatility when it comes to the expression.

    10. I wouldn't be able to have her around me. Her expression looks much too intense for me. For me this face looks like intense pain ... She is beautiful, yes, but my first thought was abuse ...

    11. It's a great sculpt, but definitely not. I like faces that can be taken as different expressions and her crying all the time would make me sad :[
