1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. i prefer making them 100% because of a few facts. i enjoy sewing and creating something unique for my unique characters. it's not easy to find exactly what you intend to put on the doll out there...and lastly, stuff can be very expensive. the only thing i buy for, outfit wise is shoes.

    2. Buy them! So many amazing artists who make wonderfull doll clothes <3

    3. I love to buy doll clothes and often spend lots of time online looking at clothings photo. Perhaps I might learn to make them myself one day but too bad my skills are super limited to hand stitches *_*

    4. Both. I like sewing but I'm still to clumsy. There are garments I'm not able to make. Yet...

    5. As I've said, I prefer making them, not only since if I have a new doll coming in, in a certain size (like MSD) I already have dolls I can use to make them a few outfits before coming home, and because I have certain looks I prefer for my dolls, now I can have those certain looks and not worry.

Only thing I'd prefer to buy is shoes...XD; Even though I made my Yo-SD some boots making shoes is hard.

    6. I prefer making clothes because it is a lot cheaper and you now that the clothes will fit. I also like to design and sew clothes for dolls. But there are some clothes that are really difficult to make. So in that case I prefer to buy them.

    7. I currently buy, only because I can't sew in a straight line to save my life xD
If I could sew, I definitely would.

    8. I would like to sew. The clothes can get quite expensive.

    9. I love making mini clothes for my doll ^^ Everything from jackets to dresses to stockings, I just want to give everything a go. I love going into giant fabric shops and just spending a couple of hours looking at fabrics to make clothes with ^^

I really want to give making wooly socks a go (though I can neither crochet or knit for toffee!!) and also some hats and shoes. I've found some awesome tutorials and now I'm just waiting for some free time to get making :D

On the other hand, I do really enjoy buying other hand made clothes. As CloakedSchemer said, there's not really much point in buying a $15 plain top when you can make your own in no time at all, but when you get those BEAUTIFUL full outfits that are absolute works of art in their own rights I just can't help myself :)

    10. I would like to do both. There have been many times I did not buy an outfit, because of the material or some part. I purchased a sewing machine, and plan to make simple things as well as experiment. I also get bored of all the very nice outfits I can't get because they stain.

    11. I guess when I get Isis I'll have to give a go at making her clothes because I have read that it is really hard to find clothes to fit her sculpt.

    12. i would prefer making clothes for my doll! i can always make sure it will fit them properly plus I can make anything i want for them, including original clothing designs, rather than having to search for something similar. Plus, i love sewing (both by hand and machine) and have been sewing for years so it never hurts to find a new use for my skill.

    13. with me i will try to make clothing for one of my dolls but i doesn't look as good as bought clothing in my opinion im only 14 but i have been sewing for years and i cant make anything that compares to pro clothing its its too good so i buy my clothing :)

    14. I would prefer to make them myself, once I'm skilled enough! That way I can have the things I pictured in my head. I wish I could also make my own clothes!

    15. I can't sew as my hands shake too much. So I have no choice but to buy clothes for my dolls.

    16. I sewed about three pieces of clothing. But when I say I sewed it means destroying, haha. So I prefer to buy.

    17. I wish I could make them, but I am not talented in making clothes. I need to learn.

    18. I love to make thing. but the shoes are allways a problem and hard to make

    19. So far I've made and plan on making most of the clothes. I may buy some accessories and things like stockings. I just have trouble finding the exact thing I like at a price I can justify. Plus, I got this doll as a hobby, and I really enjoy sewing and crafting. That said, it's slow going and I often have to tell myself that the utter junk I slaved over is "practice" and that by making a terrible dress, I'll learn to make a better one next time.

    20. I'm currently in the midst of buying my first doll, but so far I have a whole plan for him that includes making as much for him myself as I can!! I feel like that will make my first doll more special to me because I'll be putting all this work into his clothes and his wigs :sweat
