It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. While I do consider myself to be a creative person,I'm just not very crafty :sweat and so I purchase all of my doll clothing from those that are talented enough to make them.

    2. There are certain things I'll buy, and certain things I will make. Shoes are one of those things I have to buy, because I am completely incompetent at making them, and I'd rather not have to stick felt on my doll's foot, unless I had to. However, I can whip up dresses and little shrug jackets in minutes, give or take a fight with my sewing machine, and the level of detail in mind (pleating something can take me an hour, to get it just right

    3. Healthy mix of both! When I got my first boy, I bought a pretty plain outfit just so that he wouldn't be naked. However, because his pants were a custom order and I ordered them quite a while after ordering my doll, they arrived after he did! So I just ended up making him two pairs of pants when he arrived.
I am incredibly slow at sewing though. I sew by hand, and tend to get distracted along the way. hahaha

I do have to alter clothes that I do buy though, since my boy is a Souldoll Vito and ergo an odd size.

Shoes are a must-buy. I would have no patience in making those. LOL

    4. Me, too - healthy mix of both. :) I love to sew, but I also love getting a new outfit in the mail. Plus there are some things I'm just not very good at making, especially for Pukifees. (And don't even ask about sewing for PukiPukis. That was a slow-motion disaster in miniature.)

Shoes I can't make, either. If I could I'd make them for myself, too, because my feet are a weird size. (Small but wide. Very, very wide.)

    5. I try to make things myself since I usually have materials on hand. But there are some things I'll buy like shoes or crocheted hats. (I just really like them on dolls) To me making clothes is better in the long run since it's less expensive, you don't have to wait for it to ship, and you'll know the item will fit. That and I like changing my doll's clothes often so buying an entire wardrobe would end up being pricy.

    6. Seeing as I don't have even a lick of knowledge how to sew and make doll clothes myself, I have no choice but to buy them. c':
However, I suppose that when my schedule clears up, I'll probably try to learn how to sew doll clothes, and, when I do know how to make them, that's probably the only time that I'd prefer to make clothes instead of buying them. x'D

    7. Sometimes when i in the mood, i like to make the clothes for my dolls, but my sewing machine doesn't workers so well, so i prefer to buy some clothes instead, like shirts, shoes, i like to knit some times too, but just hats or dresses.

    8. Buy them because i can´t sew.. I have try to make a easy dress but it don´t turn out well XD

    9. Depends on what kind of clothes. I can sew but until now I've mostly bought the clothes.
I'm planning to work on a 'medieval fantasy' wardrobe and I'll make most of those clothes myself.
But I prefer to buy Vince's clothes since he wears really detailed clothes.

    10. If I'm ever able to make clothes for my dolls I will but I think I would just mess it up if I tried so, for now, I just buy them.

    11. I am a total newbie when it comes to sewing, so if possible, I would rather buy the clothing.

However, I am not against sewing clothes if there is something I want and is either too expensive or if I can't find it anywhere. The things I can make are just kinda limited at the moment. ^-^

    12. I'm a maker. Outside of shoes, I'll make most of their clothes. As I mainly have boys (may have a girl in future), there isn't a lot of variety available.

I also like the challenge and creative aspect. And saving a bit of dough doesn't hurt, either.

    13. I WOULD prefer to make them, but skill says otherwise ;p

I am so horrible at it. But I don't beat myself up over it too much, I love commissioning for outfits for anyone with the talent! It's hard - take my money! XD

    14. I *will* learn to make them... eventually

    15. I make a lot of my doll clothes, and for the most part I prefer it. Every now and again, though, an outfit or outfit piece comes along that *begs* to come home! ^-^

    16. I love making clothes for my dolls. I'm not very good and everything is sewn by hand but I find it really enjoyable.

    17. If I was good at sewing, I'd make all of mine, since I want specific outfits/looks for them that are impossible to find...I'd also make my own clothes and cosplays as well!
I'm hoping to learn to sew little clothes and work with little patterns with the dolls and move up to my size. I just feel it will look like crap for a while and I may have to cover my shame with store bought clothes.

    18. Make them! Even though it takes me a while to get round to it. I'd like to learn how to make shoes and boots too.

    19. I prefer to make clothes and do it exactly what I want and I worry that fit it perfectly.
Although I admit that initially I bought something, so she was not naked at the beginning.

    20. I like making them when I have the time to. You can be so much more creative with it than purchasing it outright.
