1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I prefer to make clothes. I get to feel proud of my accomplishments and spend tons less on fabric than I would on doll clothes. And who knows? Maybe I can use the doll skills and patterns to make something for myself!

    2. One of my goals, both for myself and for my dolls, is to learn how to sew. I'm really pretty abysmal at it right now, but the more I make, the better I get! Besides shoes, neither of my dolls have any clothing that I didn't make for them. That might change in the future, but for now I find it pretty cool ^^

    3. Well, I'm not good & don't have talent in sewing & stuffs.
I also have a few favorite shops for BJD outfit etc.
So... I always prefer to buy it. :sweat

    4. I really, really, really can't sew. It's my mum who makes all the clothes for my dolls. My first doll came in September but so far I only bought a pair of shoes for him. I don't prefer selfmade clothes but I don't want to spend 8$ on a simple shirt + shipping when my mum can make one out of the fabric she has at home. I can totally see myself ordering clothesin the future, even if my mum makes a lot.

    5. I used to sew clothes for my BJD, because I like the design style to make them as I wanted, when self-sewing for BJD is also the expression you love your BJD. and most importantly, you will save a lot of money to buy toys for BJD

    6. It would be better to do yor clothes cause you could create exatly what is it in yor mind . But need to have the capacity that i haven't. (=_=)

    7. I would love to make my own clothes, that way I'd know they'd fit for sure and you wouldn't have to worry about colour discrepancies from the computer monitor. But I really have no experience in making clothing, so I'll probably have to go with buying clothes until I can get a sewing machine/some practise in. ;;;

    8. Well, my preference would generally be to buy clothing or have it done by a professional atleast, but I feel as if I need to pick up my sewing again inorder to prevent myself frrom being completely poor. I guess I don't mind the idea of sewing basic things like over-sized shirts and stuff, but anything complicated will be bought. I'd enjoy looking around in thrift stores for interesting things to put on my doll.

    9. I have made my own clothes, but I prefer to buy. I think it looks more professional and cleaner, although one day I hope to be able to make clothes with the same quality. But also I like getting things in the mail, it's like I sent myself a present.

    10. Ideally, I would prefer to make them myself, but I don't always have the time (or patience!) to do it myself, so I have more purchased clothes than ones I've made myself currently.

    11. I would prefer to make clothes instead of buy them, but at this time I don't know how to sew, so I have to buy them.

    12. Sewing takes up a lot of my time, sadly there aren't enough hours in a day to practice. That is why I like to buy stuff I know will take too long for me to make, or if I fall in love with an outfit I have to have.

    13. Buy! Although I'm a fairly creative/crafty person, I have no sewing ability. I once tried to hem a pair of my pants and I managed to sew the leg shut. I admire those who have the skills to create doll clothing!

    14. Personally, I enjoy doing both. I am just getting into making my own clothes for dolls (and have a ways to go before I'm actually happy with my work), but I also like getting clothing I've purchased. It looks so professional and there's a fuzzy feeling you get when you get purchased clothing and it fits your doll just right. ^_^

    15. I'd love to make the clothes myself! And i already have a few great designs in mind, but i'm terrible at sewing :|
      But i'll at least try!

And i really enjoy shopping for clothes too :)

    16. Since I have no sewing experience whatsoever, I would rather buy clothes xD

    17. I would love to try sewing for my BJD's, though for lack of time and energy, I usually end up just buying them clothes.

    18. I am a professional costumer( it is what I do for a living). I can't imagine, not sewing my own clothes, for my dolls. When I look at a doll, it is for the potential of me dressing it. There are so many ideas in my head.

    19. I just ordered an outfit for the first doll I plan on buying. I wanted her to have something of quality on hand for when she arrived. I'm not very good at sewing. I taught myself the little I know, but it's not enough to make a really nice looking outfit or anything. I wouldn't mind learning how to sew better in order to save some money, as bjd clothes can be quite expensive. I would say that ultimately, I would go back and forth between buying clothes and making them.

    20. I think I would rather buy outfits when I get my first doll than sew them. I've been learning how to sew lately, making pillow cases and such, and studying the sewing board here for patterns and instructions, but I've seen some outfits available online that I know I'll really really want.
