1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I would love to sew for my dolls, that was actually an initial plan of mine. I have multiple Pinterest boards with clothes that would be easy enough to make. Problem is I'm incredibly good at procrastinating and am always too tired to do anything weeknights and too lazy on weekends. So I often wind up buying things instead because it's easier.

    2. I like to make my doll's cloths. I have a lot of fabric laying around and want to gain skill points in sewing. However I do have limits and I bought his shoes. I tried making some shoes but I made some silly looking christmas moccasins.

    3. I would love to be talented enough to make clothes like I see some people doing. I'm not a great seamstress, but if I had patterns I may be able to swing it.
I crochet, and have made some clothes for Tonners I have. Some I had patterns, some I modified patterns and some I've just winged it.
Unfortunately, my hands don't work well some days now, so I may end up buying clothes now.

    4. I love to sew for my dolls, but I also love to buy or trade with other seamstresses or knitters. I also buy from companies sometimes.

    5. I love making clothes! but sometimes I just don't like to make certain things (like pants with zippers and pockets) or since I am a seamstress, I understand the cost of money AND time in making certain stuff so I end up buying things that are more worth it to me to buy than to make.

    6. I definitely prefer to make them. The main way that I enjoy this hobby is by making things for my doll, so purchasing clothes would take some of the fun out of it for me. Of course, other people make things that are much more beautiful than I would ever be able to, but I simply use that as inspiration to improve. :)

    7. I'd love to make them, but I'm not very good at sewing. I've successfully made a circle dress, if that counts for anything. :'D

    8. I'd prefer to make them myself since it would be cheaper and suit my needs better, but alas I have the sewing talents of a small confused snail.

    9. I was a cosplayer before so I have everything i need to sew my own clothes. There is also some things above my skill level that I'd prefer to buy instead of make.

    10. I'd love to sew my own clothes and I admire everyone who can, but I simply don't have enough time to pick it up, so I buy everything.

    11. I'd like to sew them, and know how more or less... but at the moment buying is easier. Unfortunately both time and funds are limited at the moment so... Callista has to make do with just one or two basic outfits for now.
Hopefully I'll be able to make more time soon so I can use some of my ideas.

    12. I would love to see clothes for my bids but I haven't built up the courage. This means so far all the clothes have been bought. I am hoping to start making some simpler items soon though.

    13. I prefer to sew but there some things that are just too hard make >< like nice cardigans, leather jackets, goggles etc.

    14. While I still haven't gotten my first doll yet, I imagine once I do I'd be mostly buying clothes for them..! My sewing skills aren't much beyond basics and I don't have the resources I need to sit down and work at them, plus I adore browsing the beautiful clothes up for sale and would love to get them if only to admire their workmanship, really!

    15. I wish I had the talent to make clothes but alas I'm stuck to penny pinching my way to buying my dollies clothes haha

    16. Sewing tiny clothes was what ultimately drew me into this hobby, so I don't have any plans to buy anything right now, but I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up if I came across something for sale that I really liked.

    17. I prefer making clothes for my dolls. For me, sewing is an important part of this hobby and I use quite a lot of time doing it. I'm not an expert but I think the clothes I have made are good enough for my own use at least. ^^ I'd also like to practice making shoes for dolls and I hope I'll get enough courage to try and make them one day. It's nice and motivational to see how your skills develop after every piece of clothing you have made although the first attempts may not always be very pretty and skillfully made. If I had loads of extra money, I'd be happy to buy pretty doll clothing and shoes and use them with my own creations.

    18. As a beginner, I prefer to buy my BJD threads. That way I have a better chance of them fitting right.

    19. i mean, id rather buy them... its just not possible because of how one outfit is like the cost of a dress for me lol. i try to sew things but if i can't, then i resort to buying, although its a rare occasion - my wardrobe is really small right now but im okay with it i guess haha

    20. I would love to make my own clothes, but I'm not that skilled at sewing yet.
