1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I'm not so good at sewing so I have to buy or to order clothes, but I want to learn how to sew cause I like clothes fitting on the doll perfectly and the process of finding neccessary things is making me really crazy *_*

    2. Im not the best at sewing but I've sewn all my doll clothes so far. I'm a big believer in "dont buy what you can make yourself" though thats always easier said than done. It probably doesn't help my cause that all my dolls are tinies. >3>
I find shirts the hardest to make, which is becoming a real pain because I have to keep sticking my tomboyish girl in frilly dresses haha...

    3. I prefer to buy clothes. I'm terrible at sewing tiny things together lol I make temporary clothes while I wait for the clothes to arrive, though.

    4. I really wish that I had any motivation to sew, because I absolutely adore seeing the work of others! <3 Maybe one day I'll learn, but for now I'll just have to keep buying.

    5. I'm making my own clothes. There are a few styles I have liked but there is always something either just off or the price is way out of my reach. I have purchased a few clothes but I rather sew and pay for the shoes.

    6. I prefer to make clothes. I have way too much extra fabric at home, and it's hard for me to justify spending more money on clothes for my dolls than on clothes for myself.

    7. If I were talented enough, I'd prefer making them. At the moment though, I prefer buying them from a local etsy seller.

    8. My sewing skills are still pretty beginner, so I'd buy clothes unless I saw pretty fabric around, then you can garruntee I'd have a nice pair of stockings done.

    9. I prefer to buy pre-made clothes which is awful really as I do own a sewing machine and did textiles at school but I just don't like making clothes for dolls. I like making purses, bags etc but find making doll clothes too fiddly for some reason. I think I will probably have to make some in the future though as there are specific clothes I want for some of my doll characters that I simply can't find pre-made. I do like customising clothes that I purchase from BJD clothes shops so they suit my tastes better.

    10. I'd love to make my own clothes for my dolls but seriously.. I am not that good at sewing. I can sew big pieces but the tiny ones... there is a problem :D Mabye I am not patient enough... sometimes I try and it depends on style of the doll of course. I am going to try for my mori kei styled doll just today. Fingers crossed for some wear-able result haha.

    11. It really depends on what I have more of-- time or money. :) I do enjoy sewing a lot, but I often lack the time (not to mention patience) to.

    12. I would love to make my own clothes, but first your boy has to learn how to sew! That may take a lot of lessons, because I am so hands-off! LMAO

    13. I enjoy making clothes when I have time, but often I'm lazy and end up buying clothes online that I dont think I could easily make. Like pants, I cant make pants. I can make fancy ball gowns but not jeans lol

    14. @sociallyawkward1 I do exactly the same as you! I'm new at sewing, so I haven't made many clothes, but I think I wouldn't spend money on that, because with the same money I could probably buy clothes or shoes for me (which by the way, I dont do either, hahah!)

It's a personal feeling/opinion, but to me starting this hobby meant learning how to sew too. I really enjoy learning new things, and I have more patience than money, so I prefer making than buying ^_^

    15. More often than not I tend to make my doll's clothes just because I would rather save my money to add to my family rather than buying expensive clothes ! Plus sewing can be a fun outlet and it's always interesting to see how the clothes turn out haha!

    16. I wish I could sew, but I just can't and I so appreciate the artistry of those that can do beautiful outfits - Often the outfit stands out better than the doll

    17. I usually buy clothes but they can honestly be so expensive (and sometimes not fit)! I am trying to sew now because I can have a wider variety of options of what I want to see on my doll and its fun looking for fabric (which can also be expensive).

    18. Currently I have to buy clothes for my dolls. I never learned how to sew, but am hoping to do so in the future. I'd prefer to learn how to sew for them so that I can create exactly what I envision. As for now I'm just glad there are so many talented people who make such lovely clothes.

    19. I would love to make clothes for my dolls and plan to do it but something alway get in my way :( I brought fabrics, sewing machines and so on but never really get a chance to do it. For now i have to stick with buying it. One day i will make good quality clothes for my babies

    20. Wish I can make one ^^, but even if i can make clothes i doubt I can make my imagination come true so yeah I prefer buying clothes
