1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I'd like to make most of my clothes so I can get exactly the look I want. But that's only going to happen in a fantasy land where I have both free time and mad sewing skills.

    2. I'm pretty bad at sewing. Sometimes I create a masterpiece, and other times it's nothing but a mess. I don't like the prices of buying BJD clothes, but it's better than all the headache and pricked fingers that come with sewing small articles of clothing. :atremblin

    3. I bought no clothes since I have BJD.
I would like to make all their outfits... But I don't have enough time, place and will :XD:

    4. Hahahah same here!!

    5. It really depends. If I can, I will make it. But I admit, that I can be lazy at times too  And if I have the doll already in, cause I can't make anything without the doll right next to me. I know you can find the measurements online, but I'm not that skilled so I need to try it on a few times in the process :sweat

    6. I already know that I could never make my own clothes. If I could sew, I'd probably still like to buy them but make a few items

    7. Buy clothes!
      I'd LOVE to make them...if I can.
I did try to make one, but ....uhhh ...OK, I had try my best not to make myself bleed...

    8. It's more of a happy medium with me. Not only do I love buying adorable clothes and surfing the web for amazing styles, I also find a weird sense of joy when I can sit down with my old sewing machine and pump out a new outfit or accessories. I've been a major sewer for years now and I love taking some of the skills that I've learned from cosplaying and shrinking it down to a doll size. Also you get a hint of pride whenever you can put on clothes that you've made and it actually fits your doll! So I do love both buying clothes and sewing them myself!

    9. my main plan is actually to improve my sowing skills through the need to clothe my dear dolls, so i'm making it all myself! not exactly a seamstress though, so it's a skill that needs developing, but the day i can sow a perfect pair of pants i'll be super satisfied :D

    10. I can sew for myself but I do not have the dexterity or patience to sew in small-scale. So I buy all my doll clothing.

    11. Both! I love making clothes but some are just too perfect to resist buying.

    12. I used to buy clothes for my dolls until I started sewing them myself. Now I enjoy designing the outfits/themes and enjoy picking up material for their outfit so much that I hardly buy doll clothes anymore.
      :)

    13. I prefer to make them, but when it comes to things like shoes and accessories those I typically buy.

    14. I prefer to buy them pre-made. I can sew, but I'm (still!) in the middle of moving and reorganizing my sewing room, so I haven't really been able to do any crafting lately. >_>; That's not fun! :(

    15. If I see something I like I might buy it, but for the most part I sew my own. I'm not great at sewing but I always draw up a design first, and there is no way to match it unless I make my own, so I'm working on getting better. Also if it's something small I don't feel like making I'll just buy it, especially if I was planning on ordering other things. Like my recent doll I ordered along with a pair of underwear and a belt because it's just easier that way

My MSD boy happens to be wearing all clothes I bought since I found some really cute clothes for him, but my larger dolls are all wearing clothes I made

    16. The truth is, premade clothes will almost always be better quality than what I sew. I plan to change that though. I can sew somewhat decently, but I want to improve to the point where my sewn pieces look good enough to sell. So for now, I'd probably buy the clothes just to have some examples of different silhouettes, but eventually I'd like to have an entire wardrobe of clothes made by myself. :)

    17. I find my self wanting to buy more often then not simply because I don't have the sewing skills to create my vision. I have enjoyed making some simple outfits but dream of the day when my skills are up to my desires. :)

    18. I'd love to get into making my own doll clothes but I'm also a complete newbie to sewing! I've bought some fabrics & supplies for me to fiddle once my doll gets here, but I've also bought a bunch of clothes to tide her over until I can manage something presentable.

    19. At this time, I like buying my clothes of ebay or other sites, I like looking for the sales and u can get really good deals. I would make my own, but I cannot sew to save myself :sweat

    20. I am hoping that, one day, I become good enough at sewing so that I can say I prefer my own self-made clothes! BUT today...is not that day :sweat
