1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. I would prefer to have the ability to make clothing for my doll since it gives you freedom to make adjustments as you wish. Unfortunately I don't think I will ever be able to compete with a professional doll cloth maker so the only choice is to buy.

    2. I buy all my doll clothes from people on Etsy for the most part. I would love to sew my own clothes for my dolls, but I'm not skilled at sewing in the slightest. ^^; My mother tried teaching me a long time ago when I was in middle school, and now I wish that I took more interest in it because I find myself wanting to learn more than ever!

    3. I prefer to make them! I sew by hand, which can be frustrating, but I loooove the feeling of seeing my own work, no matter how simple or clumsy it is. I do buy things as well. I know there's some things I don't have the skill to create yet, so I'd rather buy those particular items and dress my girl in them + my own stuff.

    4. I would prefer to make them. The doll that I'll have soon has an unusual body shape so finding certain clothing pieces that fit her has been challenging. It can be difficult to find the exact style of clothing I want as well. I would love to make her clothes but my sewing skills are horrible, I can barely even sew on a button. I plan on practicing and hopefully making some decent clothes eventually.

    5. I buy most of my clothes on Etsy. I can't really sew that well though I'd love to try at some point. I like the idea of mixing fabrics/patterns and since I prefer modern casual clothing (not dresses) it can be hard to find anything that fits my doll very well.

    6. If I could sew clothes professionally, I'd prefer to make them myself rather than buy from others. It would definitely give me a lot more choices other than what the internet offers; I wouldn't have as many problems with finding the perfect clothes for my dolls.
BUT I am definitely NOT an expert sewer, so atm I prefer to buy from other people. If I simply cannot find what I'm looking for, I'll sometimes try to conjure up something.

    7. If I had the skill to make intricate doll clothing I'd totally do it... but I don't. Because of this and liking my dolls to look nice, I buy everything at the moment. I probably wouldn't have confidence to make doll things myself without years of practice sewing.

    8. I prefer to make my dolls clothes, that way I have control over the fabric quality, and print. But if it's an outfit I found too hard to make by myself, I'll order it. It all depends on difficulty for me.

    9. I currently buy most of her clothes, but working on my sewing skills! Learning to sew certainly gives you a lot more creative freedom

    10. Both I buy some and make some. will buy most of the time and make when I have free time.

    11. Im reaaaly bad with sewing so unless someone local can do it then i have no choice but to buy :doh

    12. I buy them. I tried sewing a dress for one of my girls once. It was so ugly that I burned that thing. Buying clothes is the most stress free way for me.

    13. If I had good sewing skills I would prefer to sew them... how nice would it be to exactly dress my dolls in what I was imagining for them..

    14. I would like to be able to make clothes for my girl eventually but for right now i'm sticking to buying clothes for her.

    15. I would love to be able to buy some clothes because its a lot easier but, they cost a lot and I can make clothes for a whole lot cheaper.

    16. It seems like doll clothes cost as much as my clothes, which I get to an extent because thread count, time and effort, and shipping, but my goodness it drains my bank account
