1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you prefer to... Buy clothes or make them?

Mar 12, 2013

    1. well i am trying to sew cause most of the times I find it hard to find what I am looking for and I mean the specific style!! so I am trying to make the clothes I have imagine ...not always with success I must admit....but I am having fun sewing for them!!!!or crocheting for them!!!

    2. I would reall love to make clothes for my dolls, but it is very hard for me to make clothes at such a small scale.( I am perfectly fine at making them for myself ) I try though, but I buy most of them.

    3. Sew...I love to sew and have been doing that since I was big enough. I am so picky about fit and get annoyed with things that aren't made properly or fit poorly, LOL!;)

    4. While I do sew, knit and crochet, there's still some items, like fitted jackets, that I'd prefer to buy. Plus, if I came across some lovely 2nd hand items, I'd buy them if reasonably priced.

    5. If I had the ability to sew, and the room/time for a sewing machine, I'd -LOVE- to make my own, but until then, I'm just as happy commissioning a friend of mine to do that for me. For now.

    6. In a perfect world in which I were less lazy (or one in which I valued my money more than my time), I'd design and make my own clothing - but since we're not there (and since the tension is my sewing machine is acting up), I'll generally stick to shopping.

    7. Half and Half at this current time.

If the outfit is cheap (at max 2000yen), I may purchase it depending on how the quality and material accessibility of the outfit is.
If it`s a simple outfit I would tell myself I can sew it and find materials.
If the outfit is really expensive (Over 10000yen), I will buy it if the design is unique. (e.x. C/T/B)

Otherwise I prefer to sew, most of the stuff I like ends up being non-mainstream and hard to acquire.

    8. One of the things that attracted me to BJDs the most is the idea of sewing for them! I love designing and making miniature clothing, and I actually prefer hand-sewing to machine-sewing.

    9. I like beautiful clothes, I want my dolls are beautiful, but I will not cut, it is really hard to me, would be to order with my doll clothes, although they can be very expensive, but I think if they meet me in clothes customization requirements, I will gladly spend money.

    10. I love the idea of making clothes for my dolls, but my hand-sewing skills are limited and I have no idea how to use my grandmother's sewing machine. I pretty much stick to knitting tops and accessories and buying what I can't make, but I'd love to be able to make outfits that fit my dolls' personalities.

    11. I would love to make them if I had more skills in sewing. Seems it'd be much better than buying because then you're able to set a style that you personally designed specifically to that doll.

    12. I prefer sewing cuz there're just so much ideas in my mind for outfits and i'm a little picky on the style and details...

    13. It's 50/50....I'm a handsewer. I like being able to make my own stuff for my dolls. It's cheaper and I know the exact fit/measurements as well as do my own preferred style, but on the other hand...buying clothes can be so much easier.

    14. I have very basic sewing skills, not good enough to make my own clothes. Besides, I don't have enough time to spend just sewing. I prefer to buy. Some of the garments I find I would never be able to make myself.

    15. When I started this hobby I used to buy everything because my sewing skills were like nonexistent. However, some time ago I bought an old battered sewing machine, fixed it up and slowly started to teach myself how to sew - learning by doing is the best way for me.
First I did only easy little things but by now I sew complete multipiece outfits and today I finished my first commission. It's really fun for me and I'll keep sewing my own dolly clothes from now on.

    16. Clothes for their dolls I either buy on the relevant sites, enjoy book with wizards. To be able to sew - it's great! But unfortunately, my hands are not for this were created.

    17. I've been having a blast lately sewing for my dolls, and will hopefully get some pictures up soon. I think it's great when I can buy a professionally made outfit for my doll, but there's something more satisfying about the whole sewing process. I'm not even that good at it yet,but I'm determined to learn how to make beautiful doll clothes. I don't know,I just felt really accomplished when I finally completed my recent sewing project. It was a pattern that seemed too complicated at first, and I messed up a lot. I stuck with it and it actually turned out pretty good! :D So,for everyone who says they suck at sewing, just keep at it! Good lord,if I can do it anyone can.

    18. I would like to do a little bit of both, really, though if I had the skills I would prefer to just make the clothes myself. I actually do want to learn, and I will eventually, I just need to build up the patience for it first.

    19. I prefer to make them but my sewing skill is bad.
      I'm trying so hard~

    20. Definitely make them. I am very very picky. My dolls tend to wear fashions that no one makes at all or can't seem to make right (punk I am looking at you). I also have this thing where I can't have 2 dolls in the same fashion. There really only seems to be two types for men that tend to be for sale, casual and suits. I don't mind though, I love sewing and make most of my own clothes IRL too. There's nothing better than the feeling of showing off and someone loving something you made with your own hands.
