1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you rather buy a 2nd doll instead of a doll item that cost almost the same as another doll?

    1. Depends. Is it a doll on a wishlist? Do I love it? Is it a beautiful outfit/item that I want?

But I think that a beautifully dressed doll is prettier than a whole bunch of them with outfits that I dislike.

    2. Spend it on the doll. I like making clothes for dolls and I still have way too much material to use. If it's a blank doll, I can't wait to go crazy on the outfit. It's also easier to make clothing than making a doll.

    3. I would totally. I find spending money on a doll it's somehow more worth it? Even if the item itself it's a piece of art as well :_)

    4. Since I mostly collect Peakswoods, I often buy "doll items" that can add up to the price of a doll. I have their SD female and male bodies in normal so I will buy the Peakswoods heads, male and female plus the Peakswood FOC and FOC Dandy clothes that are released at special events.

    5. I rather buy another doll with that money. I can never justify that price for an outfit for myself as I love to sew and make things for my dolls

    6. If I really love the outfit and know I will use it for years... then yes. I actually don't want more dolls, so if I see a doll that I can't resist I feel a little defeated.

    7. Since I have specific ideas for the characters I want for dolls, both in terms of how many and aesthetics, I'd be unlikely to spend that much on clothing, especially since i can sew myself and make things to suit my idea. I'd rather buy the doll if I'm lacking one for the characters I want. In terms of non-dolls items, wigs are the more expensive things I've looked at, and even then, my dolls only need one so there's no way I'd spend a doll's worth on those. I might place an order for several things that added up to the cost of a doll (since i collect SD's this would be pretty costly), but no I wouldn't spend that much on one item unless it were a doll.

    8. Generally, I rather have a few dolls that look real nice, versus a lot of dolls who'd have mediocre clothing and accessories. I definitely admit to spoiling my existing dolls with more money than I spend to buy new dolls. Some of my dolls only have one outfit that they practically never change out of, so especially in those cases I'm willing to put the same money towards the outfit as went towards the doll itself.

    9. I have so many dolls at this point, I don't feel a strong urge to get more. I'm also getting more into photography and dioramas, so I'd rather spend the money on furniture or quality backdrops.

    10. The outfit would have to be really special for me to buy it if it costs the price of a doll, but I do buy clothing in chunks, and all the small-priced stuff adds up. I've had to create birthdays for my dolls just as an excuse to buy them stuff, because I had a bad habit of buying new dolls before getting clothes for the ones that just arrived. Never again. No more naked dolls on shelves. Now I want to make sure I have at least one outfit on the doll before I buy the next one.

    11. My toxic trait is thinking that if I just put the effort, I can give my dolls outfits of equal quality to most fullsets (I can't, but I can make a discount version and that's good enough) so it's hard for me to spend money on clothes
It's different with accessories tho, because they require materials/tools I don't have, so in theory i'd consider it if I saw something unique enough

    12. I generally prefer making my dolls' clothes and accessories, since that's why I really got into the hobby to begin with, so I would definitely prefer to buy a doll to flesh out a character with than clothes. I just can't get myself to spend that kind of money on clothes or accessories.

    13. I was going to put 2nd doll but agree that it really depends on what you are looking at getting.

I do have a personal limit that I’m comfortable with spending on a single outfit. That ends up putting most LE outfits out of my desired price range. So above said limit I would rather get a second doll. Below said limit I am comfortable with shopping for accessory items. I’ve never really seen an outfit/accessory that I had to have so that is also a factor.

I kinda want doll furniture but the ones i really like are a bit out of my price range :sweat

    14. so this is a trick question, but id say depends on maker, quantity, and of course how much i like it. but id say i lean towards just buying another doll.

    15. This one was a tough one for me to answer. I ended up putting down "another doll", because I couldn't justify spending the amount I'd pay for a doll on a single item of clothing or accessory.

But at present, I am not looking to expand my collection. At all. I have 4 in a year, that's enough for me I got lots of plans and gotta get enjoyment out of my children before I consider getting more. SO my real answer is "I would rather spend that money on a collection of goodies to spoil my current resin children."

    16. I have a few outfits that are very expensive. I think FreedomTeller is very worth the price.

But as a fool who keeps insisting they will sew for their dolls, I more often want more dolls over more clothes.

    17. I would always rather buy the doll. I am so cheap when it comes to doll accessories. For some reason I have a hard time justifying spending that much on clothes, so as a consequence a lot of my dolls are underdressed. I make my own wigs and eyes, so I never have to worry about that being too big of an expense, and I'm working on making my own clothes as well to help cut down on costs. Not only does this help me save money, but it also helps me tailor the accessories to be exactly what I have in mind for the character. Also, if I were to order the clothes, I'd worry I'd order the expensive clothing only to find out it doesn't fit the doll I want to put it on, as I've had that happen before.

    18. I'd rather get the doll than the expensive doll item, unless the doll item is unique and has good resale value, then I wouldn't mind getting it.

And yes!! I used to not be a huge fan of freedom teller due to their price point, but after purchasing a secondhand set, I fell in love with the quality and fit of their clothes!
