1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you sell most/all of your dolls for a good cause?

Oct 21, 2012

    1. Unless it was a significant possibility for an immediate crisis with my family, no. I almost sold my dolls to pay for my cats' veterinarian bills when we thought there was a chance of recovery for them (liver failure) but then we ended up putting them down. But in normal circumstances I don't care enough to sell my dolls for the pittance they're worth. A couple hundred dollars won't save the world.

    2. I did at one point sell a doll (a Sleeping Realpuki Roro) to pay for a stray cats medical bills (he was very underweight as he couldn't eat since his teeth hurt so much and he needed extensive tooth work and some vaccines too) but it was a doll I probably would have sold anyway, the vet bills just accelerated the process.

as a side note the cat is now a perfectly healthy weight (even a little bit plump) and were hoping to find him a forever home soon.

    3. It really depends on the "cause". My dolls help me destress and maintain my sanity at the end of the day so for me to let that go it would have to be something extremely important like the hospitalization of a loved one. If it were for a charity or organization I agree with what others have said, if im passionate about it i think donating my time would be much more helpful than donating a few hundred dollars from my dolls. If i were doing something like the op and building a kennel id do something in the community to help raise money. bake sales, asking for donations, spreading word about helping stray dogs if others want to help. I think something like that should be a community project not just out of the pocket of one individual.

    4. I would not sell "all" of my dolls for a good cause but I have set apart my Volks F38 as a charity doll. He will be put up for charity auction as a full set doll when I get to sick to continue caring for him. My family and I have decided not to collect money from his sale. Before I commissioned the doll (he's an FCS from Volks Sato Kyoto), I made an agreement with myself and also the doll that if he comes home safely, he will be sent to his next home as a charity doll. Shipping will be on me. My last gift to him will be to send him to his next home safely and comfortably.
