1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Xaga Doll- Perfume

Dec 13, 2021

    1. I thought i'd give people a heads up that it seems that Xaga Doll are using perfume on their products. There's a possibility that Asleep Eidolon are too as sister companies and @EagleVision1999 mentions a perfume like smell in their unboxing thread.

I've just received a Xaga Doll which also has a strong perfume smell. On closer inspection it seems the smell is strongest on the plastic envelope that contains the COA so think they are spraying that with perfume. I thought i'd give a warning as I know that a lot of people have issues with strong artificial smells and I know some people can be allergic etc. :thumbup

Of course, how strong someone might find the smell is going to vary. I'm very hyper-senstive and it's strong enough to me that it re-triggered a migraine that I was recovering from and i've had to dispose of the packaging & box and wipe down the doll. This has made me anxious as I have another Xaga Doll on order. Do you think it would be okay to contact the dealer and ask if they can pass on a message not to use perfume on my order? I don't want to be rude but don't want to go through that again (plus i'm a box keeper so don't want to have to throw out the box) :sweat

    2. That sounds like a reasonable request to me. Plenty of people have perfume allergies. I don't personally, but I often find it highly unpleasant.

    3. I find most perfume scents to be overpowering and they either turn my stomach or give me a headache, especially anything floral. I would be disappointed to receive a doll with a perfume scent, and I'd probably have to let it sit in my garage for a few days before I could tolerate it in the house. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to request that your doll not be sprayed with perfume. Honestly, I don't think a company should be spraying them in the first place, considering how many people do have allergies and sensitivities.

    4. Thank you for this info - one of my relatives has severe asthma. An unexpected perfumed item would give them an asthma attack.
I understand the idea behind it (creating a sense of luxury), but I also see the danger in doing so.

    5. I have my new Xagadoll boy and I like that cute perfume. It was a surprise, and very nice for me :)

    6. Definitely message the dealer about it. A politely written request is nothing bad, and I am sure the dealer and probably Xaga would understand.

Personally I love perfumes but it really depends on the type of perfume. I once got a cosplay that had some weird perfume that made me super nauseous, but I've also had a secondhand doll with the sweetest and nicest perfume ever. But yeah, it can be pretty dangerous or unpleasant so definitely ask.

Edit to add: You should be able to air out the box and the smell will go away. No need to toss it out. Same with the envelop but that will take longer if that was the sprayed item.

    7. I also found it pleasant but I think this is a reasonable request nonetheless. I don't agree that they should stop completely but noting it on the website and letting people opt out would be a good idea.
I personally found the scent to be about as strong as the resin smell that can often be found in new doll boxes. It's a soapy fresh scent.

    8. I would be angry to receive a doll which had been doused with perfume. I have strong allergies to chemicals and also most perfumes. If I knew about it ahead of time, I would not order any doll which was scented. I don't mind the resin smell, because it fades very quickly.
