1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Young Doll Owners?

Oct 13, 2013

    1. I started collecting Pullips and Dal's when I was 12, and got my first bjd at the age of 14. After an incident a few months ago (wow, almost half a year actually) I sold all my dolls and quit, but now, 15 years old I'm very much considering buying a bjd again ^^;;

    2. I heard about the hobby back in 2010 when I was 13/14. I'm17 (turning 18 in 2 months) and I have finally gotten my first doll a couple weeks ago :) I am the eldest of 5 girls, and all four of my younger sisters are interested in my dolls!
My little sisters are 4 and 6 and are in love my Doll Leaves Noir, so I was thinking of getting them some Bobobie YoSDs for Christmas, or some other cheap bjd for them to play with without me being afraid of them braking them and wasting all of my money ;)

    3. I was either 29 or 30 when I got my first doll. The youngest I've seen was this family with a boy (they all collect together - but especially the dad). The boy looked around tween age.

    4. I was 16-17 years old when I started the bjd hobby and bought my first doll. My little sister now is also interested. She's 14. She will get her own little yo-sd soon. :) then we can share our hobby! (We already are.. she keeps looking for possible clothes and shoes for her little on-her-way doll)

    5. I got my first doll when I was 18, I'm going to be 25 here shortly, however.
I've known a handful of people that collect dolls and their kids have them. I've met a few 7 to 10 year-old with dolls.

    6. All the people I know personally who are interested in bjds are older than me. I got my first (and currently only) bjd almost two months before my 21st birthday. She was a late Christmas present from my dad.

    7. The youngest doll owner I know is my daughter ^^
She started collecting Monster High dolls and Pullips when she was 10 ,
and now that she just turned 12 years old she received her first tiny bjd as a present from my personal collection and she's very carefully with it !

    8. I stated to interest in BJD when I was about 18-19 and got my first doll when I was 23. :)

    9. I was 13 when I got my first doll, and am 20 now:p

    10. I got interested in bjds when I was 14, and got my first doll with my savings when I was 15. I'm almost 21 now, haha. I think when I got into the hobby, there were a lot of local owners about my age then (15 or so) and it wasn't too big of a deal :)

    11. I first encountered BJDs online when I was 14, and I ordered my first doll when I was 16. I'm 21 now, but back then the doll owners I met were all about my age or nearly in their twenties, so the age gap wasn't remarkable.

    12. sorry for bringing this back. im 14 and a doll collector and theres nothing wrong with younger people being in the hobby ^^

    13. I was 20 when I first discovered the BJD hobby, and purchased my first doll that same year. I wish I had discovered it when I was 18 because of all the epic Soom releases that occured in '08, but I doubt I would have been able to afford any of them at that time :sweat I'm 25 now and still very much involved with my dolls and the hobby :) Most of the doll owners I've interacted with have been within a few years of my age or older.

    14. I discovered the BJD hobby when I was 14 and bought my first one when I was 15, in early january. I had quite a lot of money for Christmas, so I used it to buy the head I wanted with a cheap body. The very first weeks I had him he was blank, bold and eyeless. A friend of mine lent me a wig and a pair of eyes, another one did his make-up for me, my mother made him clothes. He took a long time to really come together but he always felt so special to me...

    15. I remember in ninth grade I had a friend interested in BJDs who started saving up for and eventually got one, a LUTZ Kid Delf I think? Back then me and my best friend at the time hadn't heard anything about them before that, and thought she was out of her mind, spending so much on a doll! He was definitely very pretty though, and I think she still has him to this day.

Six years later, here I am now, seriously looking into buying my own first doll and prepared to go double the price- how the tables turn!

    16. :lol:I'm thirteen, it's almost embarrassing to be this young. I currently have two dolls and know one other person in real life that's my age who collects them.

    17. I'm currently 19, and received one of my favorite Migidoll's when I was 16 :whee:

    18. I got in the hobby when I was 15, I'm 16 now. So yeah, there are more of us than you'd think XD

    19. I was ten-ish/eleven-ish when I got my first BJD-sort of doll, a 21 cm Obitsu. A while later, I got a Felixdoll Brownie Toby, and another year or two after that I got my first REAL doll, a Resinsoul Mei.

    20. I got my first doll when I was 11 or 12 and now I am 16 and have started collecting again, I'm also interested in being a face-up artist.
