Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. I prefer a variety from white to about Iplehouse peach gold (which is glorious, btw). I don't venture into the tan category although some tan dolls look really pretty, because I like my dolls to be seamless, and sanding tan dolls often cause unsightly discolourations. Most of my characters are in the normal skin colour range though, with an occasional white skin. Oh, and I'm open to dolls on fantasy colours too. I wish Iplehouse would release more dolls in that gorgeous rose grey skin.

    2. Personally, I prefer the normal skins. White is usually much too pale for my taste, and in my opinion the dolls I have/want would not look very good in tan. I guess I kinda like that porcelain but not albino look for my dolls :3 Oooh! Although my friend has this very gorgeous soom doll in grey skin. She's beautiful, I almost want to get one in grey.

    3. I like a bit of a mixture having white , tan and normal skin dolls. I do love the look of Ringdoll tan skin and also like Iplehouse special real skin colour so these would be my favorites. When choosing though I go with whatever colour I think suits the doll and character I want.

    4. When I first looked into BJD's I thought white skin would be really beautiful, but when I saw it in person my mind changed and now I really only like natural skin tone. Don't get me wrong, they're still beautiful, just not for me. (I'm already very pale) :D

    5. My first bjd was white skin but I've never been able to connect with her and get her image right so I've since stayed away from white skin dolls. Most of my BJDs are normal skin and I love it, though some normal skin tones I prefer over others. I've recently fallen for Luts and Momocolor's tan skin though. I have one each of those and want more.
this week I bought my first white skin doll since my first bjd. I had a concept that required white skin. I'm pretty excited to get her and see whether white skin can be redeemed in my books.

    6. indeedy, that peach gold is gorgeous <3 and some tan dolls are fantastic too... though I find it harder to like the fantasy colours, even grey.

I think that many 'normal skin' colours are a bit pale for my liking anyway compared to white, so I'd choose the former over the latter and day.
I also feel acutely aware of yellowing, and predict that my doll will probably yellow to a pale yellow-white from her 'normalskin' colour.

    7. I'd go for white skin. just because the company I want my doll from has more replacement parts, additional hands etc in that skin color. I would hate to need a replacement part and then realize it's not available in the right color

    8. My ideal skin color for my dolls would fall between most companys white and normal skin. I don't like paper white skin, but a lot of normal skins are too dark for my tastes. I get normal skin because it is more natural looking, but I usually wish it was paler.

    9. I like my dolls looking healty so I prefer normal/natural skin or tan if it suits doll.
Usually white skins looks very pale, so more some less, and I see them very unhealthy/ill/dead. :'D

    10. I like real skin iplehouse or light tan. Or any color of the skin which would look realistic.Although, in many respects it depends on embodied the character.

    11. I have most "normal yellow" skin dolls. However, I also have one in white skin and one in tan skin. The one in tan skin is that color because of the character she is supposed to represent, while the others didn't have a set character and I chose their skin simply based on what looked best in pictures I saw online of their companies resin colors.

    12. I prefer LUTS real skin normal. I guess I like the face-up options better.

    13. I don't like white skin (Have one, selling it xD) because it make me think of a corpse. And I'm not talented in make-up so I don't know how to blush a body and a head. I like normal skin to real skin Iplehouse, even if I only had normal skin until now. I will have my first tan in two months \o/

    14. I havent had that much experience with different skin tones from different companies.

My preference is Tan, more specifically Bambicrony Tan. Its the only Tanned skinned doll Ive owned so I dont have a comparison to other companies tans but even with the minor imperfections that tan can have I love it.
Ive owned a White Skin and a normal (slight peachy tone) skin, but its not really for me.

I would love to own other tans but im always a little worried how they might look together with my Bambicronys.

    15. As for me, I prefer Iplehouse peachgold skin tone; it is so natural, "healthy" color. Sometimes I like pale dolls, sometimes tanned, if it suits doll.

    16. i prefer skin color in sequence with: white, transparent normal, tan, grey. i love white cuz it always suits the faceup and outfits well. tan is awesome as well, but i dont think i can handle it well, cuz it always appears unique, and hard to costume~ ^ ^

    17. I try to pick skin colors that go with the rest of my dolls. I wanted Dean, Cas, and now Coraline to be reasonably the same color since they will be in photostories together. Evra had to be green because he's a snake boy.

I love darker skinned dolls and dolls with fantasy skin like sky blue, I just don't have any characters that would fit those shades.

    18. I like the white skin for some reason! but i like it with blush also like blue fairy's white skin i think its very pretty!

    19. I used to like white skin ALOT. If I had the ability to buy more dolls at that time, I'm sure my collection would have way more white skin dolls than right now (only my first doll is WS), haha. That said, I do still like WS though most of my collection is NS now (mostly because it suits the character better), and I like how WS yellows to a nice mellow tone that feels more real than when it's stark white. I think if I had to choose, I'll say NS is my predominant choice but some special dolls would be WS or tan (still wondering who fits that better :D).

    20. I tend to go for dolls with pale or semi-pale skin tones. Although I do wanna purchase a mocha-like skin tone doll someday. Dolls with that skin tone appears so exotic.
