Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. i prefer normal and white skin, but i'm often told that photos tend to be kinda overexposed when you shoot normal and white simultaneously. so i still haven't taken the step to get a white one.

    2. i appreciate all skin types depending on what I want

    3. Since I've gotten my DELF girl Nina, I reaaaally love tan. I wish Parker was tan! I like the yellow skins too. I don't like white at all...too pale and unrealistic for me I guess (funny coming from someone who collects bjds, but whatever :P).

    4. I too think that the tan skin colors are very nommy ...however, I like variety, so I'm looking mostly to have my dolls with as different skin colors as possible ^^ Of course, since the old dolls do get slighly yellow-ish over time it's not that difficult <3

    5. I prefer white skin but not one that is way too white, something that is white skin but still looks like a pale skin color. ^^

    6. It depends on the character. I have both tan and normal skin dolls now.. but I think I prefer the tan ones just because the color is so nice.

    7. I kinda prefer doll skins with normal, pale white ones. I liked them that way since they look much more pale and beautiful (sorry if I act really weird because I love white-skinned or pale dolls)

    8. I'm torn between normal and white skin. > . < I have one of both and I love them.

    9. When I first started I bought WS, but I have turned around from that. I have three WS dolls, but appreciate NS and tan the most. A good tan colour is definitely my favourite, it is much easier to photograph better. You need really good lightning to be able to capture WS in a good shade. Usually it turns out yellowish or bland. NS and darker have an easier time of it. Just like real skin :)

(Being quite pale I look ill on most photos, while my tanned friends look healthy, hehe)

    10. I like normal skin, especially if is kind of pink for female dolls. For male dolls I prefer tanned skin but it depends of the tan of the company. For fantasy dolls I like how the white skin looks, I think it gives you so many possibilities.

    11. Personally I prefer the most realistic option that the company offers. If the character that I have chosen would have a different color skin tone. I would go for that. But usually I prefer the normal skin option.

    12. I used to just prefer normal skin, but now my dolls are just all becoming WS and I love the colour. I still very much like pale normal skins.

    13. My favorite skin color is grey without a doubt. Though I also really enjoy tan and white skin depending on the individual doll.

    14. Personally I prefer normal skin because it looks realistic. I'm also not worried about NS changing its color during the time because I have nothing against slight yellowing.
I also like white skin, but I think that taking photos of white dolls may not be so easy (I don't have any white dolls so I can't be completely sure about it).
Tan and grey looks really nice on photos, but I'm a little bit unsure about buying tan-skinned (or grey-skinned) doll because I'm afraid that this color may become slightly greenish during the time. I think change of color wouldn't be a big problem, if the doll isn't exposed to sunlight 24 hours a day, but I'm still a little bit unsure.

    15. I love pink skin the most. I've seen white skin and tan skin in person before and, although they look pretty, it's not a color I would want for my dolls. I just find pink to be so flattering.

    16. I like pale peach (NS for most companies) and white skin, and most fantasy colors.Tan is okay sometimes but I wouldn't too many dolls that shade in my collection. I'm not much into dolls that look like they could be on Jersey Shore or LA Housewives or whatever those so called reality shows are actually titled. I nearly always will get a darker brown doll just to have a doll in my collection that's AA or Latino or something. Ditto a doll that looks Japanese or Chinese. I like diversity when it comes to my dolls but I admittedly tend to gravitate to dolls that are pretty pale. I like pale skin, red hair, and freckles. It's a predominating theme in my doll collection, like the bright colorful not always matching clothes. What can I say I obviously watched a lot of Pippi and Anne of Green Gables movies when I was a kid. :P

When it comes to fantasy colors I really like most shades of green. I actually wear green a lot in real life because it suits my coloring. I've always wanted a green BJD actually so that's why when I ordered Aine I asked them to do me a green girl. I figured it was very unlikely they would do a green color I would not like. I still want to get a RS doll in green too someday. I do actually consider all really white dolls to be a fantasy color also. I know they can be blushed to be just pale but I consider paper white dolls to be pretty extreme, and mostly I save that skin tone for goth and vampiric dolls.

I like it but I don't really consider it a normal color even if it is the default color of some resin and sold as such. Even extremely pale people, and that would be me actually, I'm so pale that people are always asking me if I am sick even when I am not, they are not usually that white. I actually do photograph looking a bit like that, like a WS doll, but it's still not accurate to my skin tone in real life. I do have some peach tone in there. I don't look like I am completely dead, unless I am trying to take a pic of myself....

    17. It depends on the sculpt, but for the most part, I love pure white skins. *_* My first and only boy is pure white. However, while I love the pale, porcelain look, I am going to get more natural and probably even a tanned doll in the near future. I think once I have dolls of different skin tones, I'll be able to say which one I like a little better.

For now, though, white skin wins. *w*

    18. I don't like white skin at all. I've bought all of my dolls secondhand, and I learned that white skin YELLOWS VERY EASILY. I like the color of her skin (she was yellow when I got her and it actually very pretty), but I think she's getting yellower and that worries me! She's also hard to photograph because sometimes her skin looks odd in the photographs when my boy's doesn't. I seem to like light tan dolls though. I have two of those. I've seen normal-skinned dolls and I guess that's okay... But right now, I think that a lighter tan is the best. I also like some of the fantasy colors.

    19. i love white skin dolls but i allso like normal skin typ but i kinda like the gray skinde ones to

    20. this sort of comment led to my general avoidance of white skin dolls. I prefer the peach colours as they are more realistic, and I really like the idea of making dolls appear as life-like as possible :)
