Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. I have been drawn to the white skin, as I love the pale "goth" look, however, I just ordered my first grey resin doll and I have to say I am SO EXCITED to see it in person. I have never seen a bjd in person other than the 3 I own right now, so I am hoping to see more variety in resin types when I go to my first meet up! :)

    2. I prefer tan skin! If I can get it I will almost always order a doll in tan. The only thing that stops me is if the character I have in mind for the doll really won't suit tan skin. I love Soom's bronze, and though I don't have the doll anymore Leeke's tan color was amazing! I also love Momocolor's tan and iple's light brown. I think too that it's more forgiving when doing your own faceups.

I used to strongly dislike white skin, but since many Soom dolls are only offered in white skin when first released I found it growing on me! It lends a certain ethereal look to the doll. Volks white skin has always been a little creepy and dead to me, but for some reason I always liked it on Lieselotte and increasingly the F-01 head. With any luck I'll have a Lieselotte of my own eventually so I can work with Volks white in person!

And some people really dislike normal skin, but I like it well enough. Suppose it depends on the company but I like the peachy undertone when I'm doing faceups. Every skin tone has its place!

    3. I like tan skin, real (not lighter), light brown and sometimes ebony.
Although it depends on face, but... the exceptions to my preferences may occur very rarely.

    4. I go for normal skin. I do find the white skin kinda pretty, but I myself have almost porcelain white skin which I was bullied a lot for when I was younger- kinda makes me avoid it for my girls. The tan skin looks great and I was very temped, but put off by the the way they can age faster and have uneven skin tone ( I know is more so with some brands then others)

    5. I have more white skin dolls -it seems to be my first choice. However, I have gotten the urge to try different skin tones and ordered my first tan skin doll (who is due to arrive within the next two weeks), and I also have one in normal pink and am planning on getting one in normal yellow. Maybe someday I will find a grey skin doll too...

    6. I love all skin tones and wish the darker ones were as popular as the paler ones. I like when dolls have different skin tones and freckles and all kind of diverse markings or colors. :D

    7. I quite like the butter skin tone that Angell-Studio does but I don't know whether it is a pale yellow or if it is an ivory because as beautiful as the colour is it is much easier to determine through other owners that have that skin tone :)

    8. I have to say that Dream of Doll's "white skin" is far more pink than I would like. So there's that. If you look through threads you will constantly see people who are creating hybrids trying to figure out what will match between manufacturers. Since I want my dolls to reflect more of the subconscious dream world aspect of things I want them all to be white with blushing. Some people want realism so they'll get normal skin etc. As you've noticed, sometimes matching in photos is better than manufacturers web sites. And of course, any picture you view on the web is going to be different from monitor to monitor etc......and so it goes...

    9. Hmmm I'm not sure, but while browsing I'm attracted to more white or pink skin dolls, but I'm going through a phase, which I really love the light blue skin Bobobie Sprite doll. I don't know the reason but tan skin doesn't attract me as much...:l

    10. I don't really like one doll resin color more over another. The deciding factor is based on there character development, and how I want them to look.

    11. I only have three dolls at the moment and two are lilac and lavender! Haha. I love fantasy colours but my preferred default base colour is probably natural/normal.

    12. I love NS and tan skin! :XD:
Iplehouse's Peach Gold skin and Real Skin is my favorite. It is so beautiful.
      Soom's bronze is also exceptional~~

None of my characters are fantasy, so the dolls I choose to shell them are mostly in natural skin colors

    13. I like white skin for its ability to take up a bunch of different designs, but I'm personally more a fan of pinky-peachy, as long as it's not... pink pink. Darker dolls are really pretty, but I would be really worried about uneven colors or just in general messing it up.

    14. White and tan skin.
White skin to me, is more ethereal and idk, "fantasy like" haha.
80% of the time I order white skin dolls.

Tan skin is beautiful and is more special to me, so I've only ever ordered one tan doll, which is a Migidoll Suntan Ryu yays! :D

I do not like Fairy Land's normal skin, it's got a yellowy-peachy tone to it which I find repulsive.

    15. For some dolls I’ve seen the white skin looks so awesome and I’m like ‘Wow’ but for me personally I like more of a tanner more ‘normal white skinned person’ look. I don’t like too dark (I’m not really tanned except for the farmer and short tan) and I don’t like the idea of my dolls being tanner than me LOL

But if I were to make the choice of getting a white skinned doll it would be to do a body blush on them to give them more of a life like color.

I’m also horrible at keeping whites white so I can only imagine how a doll of mine in white would look like lol

    16. I prefer generally normal skin for my dolls, I also like the lightweight tanned skin even though I still have no doll as.
Contrariwise I don't really like the color resins or white skin, it doesn't fit me!!

    17. Which companies use the French resin?

    18. many use both types of resin but here's some companies out of the top of my head that produce dolls in French resin: Agell Studio, Withdoll, Narindolls, Cerisedolls, 5star doll, Zaoll...

    19. Thank you I need to read up on the different types ;)

    20. I have a white skin, so I like white skinned dolls, but normal type is good too. I'd like something like semi-white skin but this skin is not common. Some tanned dolls look adorably, for example Ignim (Soom).
