Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. Light tan all the way!! Latis light tan looks very natural like a sun tan. I don't like the fairyland tan at all though.
light tan dolls are easier to photograph to me because they don't get washed out.

    2. For me I think it depends on the "character" you're going for in a doll. I personally like a white skin tone on ethereal characters, makes them look pure and heavenly.

    3. I'm weird. I lust over every tan skin doll and I like how white skin dolls look, but I ended up with 3 normal skin dolls.

    4. I'm pretty new to BJDs and 3 out of 4 are NS, because it was the only color available for 2 and the only other option for 1 was white. My first girl is tan, and in general I love the look of tan dolls. White generally looks too white.
Am now awaiting number 5, another tan doll. Some version of NS works better for some of my planned characters, but I love the look of tan skin.

    5. I was going to go with the normal skin color for my Iplehouse Tatiana but they introduced the peach gold skin and i just fell in love even more. The real skin is to dark for my liking but on the right doll it looks fantastic! For example the Guardian Isar, real skin looks breathtaking. But for my baby I'm not sure it would be right.

    6. White skin, every time.
I love the way it looks next to hair and clothing colours that I prefer and it just gives the dolls that extra dose of magic, I think, because very few people are super, ridiculously pale white, let along paper white. I just love the idea of a doll that's so human-like, but at the same time, really, obviously not human-like at all. :)

    7. I like normal skins for the most part but I do have a soft spot for tan skins as well. :)

    8. I usually prefer white skin dolls because it is easier to make the vivid color on their face.
But recently I found that tan skin is also cute... They have their own charming point.
Now I am considering to buy tan or ebony skin doll...but I am little bit worried how can I put a heavy make-up on her face.

    9. All of my dolls are normal skin and I'm happy this way, although I do find myself ogling those gorgeous Fairyland tans. I'd love to be able to get a tan MNF, but otherwise I intend pretty much stick to the normal skin.

    10. Two "normal" and one white at home, saving for another "normal" now, but then his boyfriend will be tan (my real problem will be choosing between tans, actually)... eventually I'll have a good range of tones in my little crew, I hope.

    11. I go back and forth between normal and white skin. When it comes to normal I honestly prefer pink normal but most of the ones I have lean more toward the yellow end. Though my honest preference is for white skin. I am extremely picky when it comes to tan skin, which would be why I do not own any.

    12. My two dolls are white skin and pale normal skin, but I want to vary that. I'm especially attracted to peach gold and ebony.

    13. I like a variety - some characters accept light Brown, to some white, and it is better for someone to be normal. (and here it is better to stop on what turns green less)

    14. I like white skin.....white seems easy to match different colours

    15. For me, it depends on the character I want to make. I am very much for character-based dolls, so their skin tone is part of that. I admit, however, the tan and obsidian options I have been seeing around are very appealing to me, as are off the wall colors.

    16. It depends of the character, and the mold... I love tan skin such as momocolor or iple house, it also depends on the house.. but I have one normal, one blue and one vanilla xD psss.. but I'll have a little tan and chubby kid soon <3

    17. The skin color depends on the doll/character. Most BJDs have very fair skin, if not white, so most of my girls are pale, but since it suits their character it's fine. The palest, Isabelle (Obitsu white), is a redhead, so it suits her. Most of the rest are what most Japanese dollmakers consider "normal", which is a sort of light pinkish beige. That works for Megumi and Miyae, who are Japanese, and for Ashe, who is not only half Japanese but also avoids the sun like poison.

Strangely enough, the darkest-skinned girl I have is Chaeri, whose character is Korean. She's a Volks tan. I don't have an explanation for her darker skin except that perhaps she's got some Han Chinese/Mongol in her background. She's also sort of the outdoorsy type--at least more so than the other girls--which could be a factor as well.

    18. I'll be honest, other than essential to my job electronics BJDs are the most expensive thing I own. I'd love to own a tan, grey or even dark ebony toned doll one day but the cost keeps me away from them. I mainly stick to whatever is the default resin color because of my budget. Since entering this hobby I'm a lot more free with my money..but I still worry about my savings. 10+ years of feeling dirt poor will do that to you.

    19. It probably depends on the character and sculpt... But white and normal are the two that I generally go for.

    20. I have three colors of resin: Normal, Oriental and pale tane. Each is unique :)
