Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. I have 'normal' and 'tan' skin dolls. I always wanted tan skin dolls, but they used to be beyond my price-range back in the day. Since returning to the hobby, I've bought two lovely tan skin dolls. I also have one 'real-skin' french resin doll, and I love how her skin-tone has a glow about it.

I've never really been fond of 'white' skin dolls in general, though I have seen many pretty ones. They just aren't for me.

    2. I like Iplehouse, also for the versatility of skin tones. I particularly am getting into the real skin tones. Now companies are coming out with UV protection on the real skin and tan dolls. Lutz is another big favorite and then the company that makes the granado dolls. I also like the people who make the Bobbobie dolls where you can get different color dolls like blue, green,purple.etc..

    3. For most of my dolls I've wanted white because it can contrast dark colours so well, but I have one hunter who is perfect with tan/brown, its such a lovely colour!

    4. Most of my dolls are NS, but I love tan resin the most. I also enjoy fantasy colors, like green, lilac, etc.

    5. I'm absolutely in love with tan resin, especially lately. I'm always heartbroken when I find a sculpt I love, am ready to start saving for for certain characters, and then go to check for resin colors and there's nothing darker than NS. Ahhh, it happens too often. D;

    6. I'm new to all of this, but just by observation I have to go with Tan resin. Fairyland's tan resin is just absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to see my girl when she arrives in all of her tan glory! :D

    7. Normal skin. White skin yellows too much for my liking & I dislike tan skin-- it just looks off to me. If I had to choose my favorite tan skin, it'd probably be Iplehouse.

    8. I adore tan skin dolls so so much! ♥ :abambi:
But I usually just choose normal skin because I find it easiest to paint.
(I mostly paint the faceups of my own dolls so this is a matter of my own skills.)
If I can I always choose pink based normal skin over yellow based!
It's because normal pink skin reminds me of cute and healthy pinky tone of real skin (like blushing). :blush
Also I feel like having a pink tone in resin balances the future yellowing but I don't know if it actually affects anything lol. XD
White resin is not my thing unless I'm buying an animal BJD.
Fantasy colors can look amazing! Like candy~ :drool
But the dolls I fall in love with don't usually come in rare resin colors so I've never had one before.
Also it would be hard for me to come up with a character for a doll that has unique resin color.
So I'll stay with tan, white and normal skin for now.

    9. I prefer the pinkish tons, in white and tan skins (like a whiteskin from bluefairy :aheartbea)

    10. Thus far, I'd go with NS. I love looking at owner pics of tan dolls, but I can't yet imagine forking over that extra fifty or so at checkout lol I'm a money crab pinch pinch. Maybe someday when I'm more adjusted in the hobby :) White skin kind of frightens me, like I'll ruin it somehow.

    11. I'm an absolute sucker for fantasy colors. If there's an option, I'll probably go for it. (For example, spent WAY more on the secondhand market for my grail, DOD grey Delphine, than i would have on her white counterpart.) I also love tan dolls. If it's a choice between normal and white, it usually depends on the sculpt and what I want to do with it.

    12. I tend to like fantasy colors more. Light blue and orange/red. But I really do wish there were more true Browns not just tan. I really want to get a few dolls in a chocolate brown color.

    13. I always opt for normal skin. I like my dolls to have a natural look, and normal skin is usually the one pictured in company photos. Tan skin is beautiful, but I worry about uneven coloring and being unable to sand off seams because of discoloration. White skin is nice too, but I would need a dramatic faceup to go with it.

    14. I tend to opt for white resin, I don't know why. Though the more I see darker resin colors the more I want them!

    15. I'm in love with the darker skin tones. I think they look more natural and more lively. It's a little annoying that not all dolls come with the option for tan skin or similar, but I'm willing to compromise for pretty sculpts. ;)

    16. When I first stepped into this hobby at the beginning I always chose white skin, maybe because I thought white skin was easier to style. As my hobby develops, I gradually prefer normal skin because I'm not a fan of fantasy dolls like super pale vampires and I find that dolls in normal skin look much more natural. Also white skin usually yellows faster and sometimes greens(?)....and some white skin yellows into a strange lemon yellow colour...
Now I think I almost complete my doll collection. If there is a next one, I would definitely go for a tan skin doll becasue I recently find tan skin so charming. :D

    17. I feel like a lot of the dolls have really pale skin. I like the normal skin color but am also leaning toward those special real skin, or light tan. I'd love to have a variety of all skin tones though. I'm not really a big face of primary color resin....but some pastel shades looks like. I'd love to have a grey or dark elf character someday.

    18. I like NS and Tan skin if the company offering it does a good tan skin. I like luts and iplehouse tan skin options but some tan dolls look too orange or red and that isn't for me. Fairyland sometimes has a nice tan too. It depends on the sculpt too, some look good in NS and tan and others look good in one or the other, to me. I'm not into fantasy colours unless its something more subtle like greyish tones.

    19. I've chosen white for my first doll but my wish list would have normal and tan too! It would depend on the character of the doll.

    20. Most of my dolls are white resin so far but, I have started thinking about grey or blue skin as I would like to build up a character that will stand out from the rest of the group. If I do, my first is likely to be a resin soul girl. There are three I love but i can't buy another yet until I have saved a bit more.
