Your choice of skin color?

Jun 28, 2012

    1. I prefer the normal skinned dolls because I like dolls to look as real as I can get them to be. (They don't replace human interaction, that is just how I like them to be) I personally am not a big fan of the fantasy dolls, but some of them are very beautiful, ex. Bobobie Ariel.

    2. definitely pure skin. easier to be taken care of.

    3. I prefer white skin because i love vampires! :lol:but also i like purple skin...it very unusual and mysterious..

    4. White, I just love this pure look! I have one normal skin doll and I am thinking about home tanning her, I love tan dolls and just can't stand her normal skin colour somehow.

I also love grey skin, maybe I will own a grey doll someday :)

    5. I've always loved Normal skin, but all the sculpts I like come in white, so it's what I own. XD I find White can be just as beautiful as Normal Skin with the right style though. c: I've yet to handle a tan doll in real life, but am looking forward to it! c:

I also find some fantasy colours look amazing despite never seeing them in real life. I wouldn't hesitant for something in violet, blue or grey. c:

    6. White, certainly white.
I have a thing for the gothic look, and while none of my dolls are truly goth, I feel that I sort of redeem myself by having pale dolls xD But since I like that look, I don't feel the least tempted to buy normal or tan skin.
Perhaps if I had a pair of twins, then one could be white and the other really, really dark. But otherwise, no.

    7. Normal pink and yellow. Light tan and dark tan. Not paper white so much. But I like old yellowed creamy white. And I love darker colors like Resinsoul`s purple and dark grey.

Usually I prefer normal skin colors of different ethnicities. But for darker and demon, vampire characters etc. I
prefer as dark grey as you can get, purpleish grey and creamy white.

    8. currently I really like white skin tone, even though I wish there were more tan dolls. I just like he milky look, and for faceups it's kind of like it's more of a blank canvas that you can work with.

    9. So far I have only experienced with normal skin, and I like normal skin too. But I recently ordered a white skin doll from Iplehouse, I hope I will love this kind of skin. And I personally like real skin from Iplehouse especially for boys, I think it's cool.

    10. Personally I preffer normal skin; I don't really like the WS beause I like my dolls to look alive and warm. Hate tanned skin only because it's so difficult to work with. As soon as my dolls start to show fading or mellowing they go for a color restoration bath to bring back their pinkiness. Yellowing and they get a good sanding down. I don't like yellow, in my dolls or as a general color.

    11. Variety is the spice of life ^^

I usually go for basic - it's kind of default for me. But I like having the odd doll different, it makes them special. I have a WS floating head and I'm looking at getting some Migidoll tanned Ryus. I also have Souldoll Celina, the tarot addition which is the most beautiful deep blue resin. I really love the special skin colours though. Souldoll did a really beautiful limited lilac colour. And some of the SOOM MDs are to die for ^^

    12. My skin color preference for dolls is actually the same as real life. I really enjoy snow white pale skin. I have pale skin in real life, and I almost always want dolls in the "snow white" skin. I don't enjoy tan at all, but besides white, I do like the "normal" skin color, sometimes. That's pretty much it. Although I do like the red resin for dragon or demon type dolls.

    13. My preference has been Normal Pink since I first started in this hobby and my first two dolls were pink. I actually had a prejudice and swore to never own anything, but normal pink and failing that normal yellow. That however changed rather quickly when I bought two soom white skin tinnie gems. After the initial shock of "how white they were" the color has actually grown on me. I'll probably stick to normal skin tones for my SDs, but I may start branching out more in my yo-SDs.

    14. I prefer normal yellow because they tend to show less yellowing, at least to me it seems that way. I've had my DZ Yuu (normal yellow) for years now and he's gotten a bit darker but really doesn't seem that yellow. I got my XD Floy (white skin) and just over two years ago, and he's gotten yellow. It's nothing too bad, but it's noticeable. Other than the BBB green I haven't had much experience with other resin colors.

    15. I prefer the tans - I find WS and NS dolls to be more challenging to photograph in strong light and since I'm fond of taking photos outside I find the browns to be easier to capture.

    16. I prefer white skin or normal. But also I like peach gold and special real skin of dolls from Iplehouse.(:

    17. I usually would choose normal, unless I wanted a doll for a specific character. I don't want my dolls to look weird unless their character has a strange skin color.

    18. Think it depends on the characters people are looking for. For example if your character lives in Japon it is likely that the doll's skin color will be oriental or yellow, but not ebony. I'm from Belarus (Eastern Europe). Normal pink color of skin is common for people here. But one of my characters is a boy from Texas (USA). So his skin supposed to be tan, but not white, pink or oriental.I like all the skin colors. If i had lots of money i'd definitely buy dolls ebony (Iplehouse, like peolpe from Africa), yellow (some Dollzone chinese boys), white (like some vampires or nothern men).

    19. Pale white or normal skin. I wish I had ideas for a tanned doll.

    20. Above all I want variety in my doll's skin tones as a group. But I do confess that individually, I find that I'm most often drawn to tan dolls and turned off by white skin dolls.

Tan dolls usually just have a such a lively, warm, beautiful color and in many varieties, and they're really noticeable unlike with normal skinned dolls where you don't even think about it because it's the 'default'. White skin though is, I think, the hardest color to pull off because it's easier to screw up the faceup and make a doll look totally ghastly. The fact that they yellow so much more noticeably than other dolls also makes me very paranoid.

Despite this, I have yet to own any tan dolls and just ordered to white-skinned dolls with another white-skin on my wishlist ^^' . It just ended up that way because of their concepts, and it makes me feel bad. I wish there were more tan dolls on my wishlist.

Overall, I don't really go for fantasy skin colors or fantasy dolls and I am rarely ever wowed by a doll in a fantasy color either. But, I do have one doll that I want to dye or spray-paint gray one day because she's a zombie and gray is her thematic color scheme.
