1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your country's currency value... does it dictate your buying habits?

Jan 31, 2014

    1. Not currently, because I was earning money through paypal, so if I have to pay for doll stuffs in $US, I don't really care about GBP or THB rates.
GBP to $US is better now though, so I tends to buy stuffs in GBP because they appeared to be cheaper! (I earn the same amount but can buy for less!)

    2. i come from china so the currency is raising because of USdollar and JP currency is becoming lower
so it stimulates me to buy..
but i dont think it is a good thingT T
i spend much more money than before...

    3. It hasn't ever really affected me, as we have relatively high wages over here anyway (I'm on the lower end of the earning spectrum, and earn about $25 an hour), but our currency is very strong and has been so as long as I can remember (though it's been really peaking the last years). When I entered the hobby, one US dollar was worth about 8 NOK (our currency), but the latest years the dollar has dropped (or the NOK increased?) in value, so the exchange rate is about 5,6-5,9 NOK per dollar, so buying doll stuff has certainly gotten a bit cheaper.

    4. I'm from Mexico and our peso is by soil... Highly devalued, it doesn't keeps me from buying, though I take a considerable amount of time to buy a doll or making a big wig order for example. Six years ago -or even more- our peso wasn't that devalued and it was easier to get things which their prices were in USD, but back then I was a child and didn't even know BJDs did exist. When I discovered them I had the silly idea the dolar was worth 10 mexican pesos still, when it was almost 14; therefore with my wrong idea I gave up a lot of times when I found it was a lot more of money than I dreamed or expected. But after much effort now I own 3 dolls, and I'm really happy :) I have money now but it just takes a lot of time to save up when everything is in dolars:(

    5. The only time my currency if a factor is when I'm deciding what store to buy from. Generally its cheaper for me to stick to my own currency and try find sites that offer free shipping.

    6. It only affects the plausibility of buying from the UK at the moment, because like you mentioned things from Canada right now are a great deal. The Uk almost doubles the price and it just hurts monetarily to buy anything from there.

    7. I find selling with the current market prices really hard.
Things that were bought back when USD/Euro were pretty much equal now sell at a huge loss.
But since I moved to UK it does make buying things from US way more appealing because of the dreadful $$ rates these days...

    8. Wow, I never even considered looking at the exchange rates (mega-derp). I mean, living in Canada, I'm so used to losing extra money to taxes and customs fees that I'm quite used to stuff like this. Also, I'm incredibly impatient and I must have what I want when I want it because I'm a brat that way :sweat
That being said, there have been times when I just get my stuff shipped to my grandparents in New Jersey and (impatiently) wait for their next visit so they can bring me the motherload of dolly goodies :fangirl:

    9. My country's currency value never really affected my buying, only really the numbers on my account XD
I always use a converter to see what the price is in DKK (Danish Kroner), but other than that I don't really pay attention to the exchange rates.

    10. I often avoid buying things from EU since the value of the Euro is quite a bit more then the dollar right now, and shipping costs are atrocious. Currency value doesn't have an effect on much else for me right now though, since I buy a lot of things, not just doll related, from Asian countries (makeup, clothes, cosplay wigs)! If the overall value of the dollar were to drastically drop in the future I imagine that would probably have a huge impact on my lifestyle though T.T

    11. It usually doesn't affect my buying habits from most places, but if I am going to attempt to buy anything from Yahoo!Japan I do watch the exchange rate pretty carefully.

    12. I just saw in the news that the C$ is gonna tank this year.... That SHOULD have put a huge stop on my spending but then Iplehouse just started their new theme set... the one I need/want to do my projects with >< omg I am so screwed this year lol.... We are headed to 85 CENTS to the USD >< omg broke does not even begin to cover it -_-.

    13. We've had some inflation recently here in the US so the all mighty dollar is not as mighty as before. Due to that I usually avoid buying any thing that must be purchased via Euro or GBP since the online exchange rate is a highway robbery. We are having a lot of trouble country wide with our postal system too so a lot of money gets lost that way. There's been so much postal theft lately that it's a risk to buy dolls because there's no guarantee they'll even get here. It's a nightmare.

    14. Yes, it does unfortunately(
But I don't really know, what to do about it, so I just keep calm and carry on. Though I bought less dolls in this year, than I planned...

    15. heh I discovered if the 'right dolls' come along.... it does not >< .... I now cringe at the thought of what I have spent in 'exchange rates' ALONE :sweat ... A "series" of "limited's" from my fave company in the exact theme I needed did not help at all lol. Out of 6 dolls in the series I have 2 complete full sets. 2 everything 'but' the doll itself (in splits ^^ splits are good LOL). 1 the weapons only since I didn't care for the outfit or the doll O_o lucky me? And the most recent release I ordered a smaller doll to get the outfit/accessories LOL AND I got extra accessories in splits (I am apparently a period weapons *hore). And one doll came with 2 outfits and the one I wanted... will go into regular release after the series is done! ^^.... Did the value of my currency affect my shopping? I'd have to say a resounding no? And there is up to another 5 dolls planned by the company :...( But i will have met most of my doll needs in this one series at least? LOL I'm not even gonna mention the outfits made to 'compliment' the series :doh

    16. Yup... see something $xx in USD but ended paying more in CAD...wallet hurts.

    17. Yes. All the time. If it's nearly a 1 to 1 ratio, it makes me think a long time whether to buy it or not. If my currency is weaker, then I don't buy it.

    18. just wait until the doll comes along that is EXACTLY what you've been dreaming of and worse it's limited... pray it's never part of a series though... that is not good -_-.

    19. Nope...Although the currency is changed, the price is still a bit high, so I have to consider it carefully before spending money. :) And sometime, the favorite doll or limited one is just popped out during my currency is weak. I don't think the currency will be a big factor for my buying at all. :(

    20. As a newbie, I had not even considered this aspect of buying yet. I think it would affect my buying habits if the dollar were to sink drastically.
