1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your country's currency value... does it dictate your buying habits?

Jan 31, 2014

1. Dayme -To do a bank wire, you have to go to your bank and fill out a form for your bank to transfer the funds to souldoll's bank. You need to get souldoll's bank wire info (account number, wire transfer number, address, phone etc). I know there are fees for the bank wire and for the currency conversion (depending on amount sent). I used to do a lot of bank wires and it is time consuming to get the information, then go to the bank and wait for a teller to help you, plus the wire transfer can take a up to a couple days to clear (usually just one).

It might be cheaper to go this way, I dunno, has anyone done it recently?

2. I do this sometimes, you can do this on Chinese companies as well. Some prices go way down but some dolls the price go a bit higher so check it first. I do this directly from PayPal, you could ask an invoice or even buy on their Chinese/Korean shop directly or even a dealer in there.

3. Well, before it didn't border me a lot. But since the exchange rate between CAD and USD turns worse, I would really think about it as a decision making reason. Cause if it's too low, it gonna cost me more, and I'm not that rich right now.QAQ

4. Kurogane & sadi-chan Thanks for the info! :aheartbea
Actually, the doll I'm aiming for is 600.00 & custom faceup fee is 80.00 USD, converted to Canadian is $900.00 & that's before shipping fees... :o
On the Korean website she would be 660,000 won for doll & faceup excluding shipping, which converted to Canadian is 740.00 excluding shipping! I would be saving well over a hundred dollars if I could pay in won... So as long as I'm on the English site, I have to pay in usd, or via bankwire?

5. Very much so, Right now the CAD is crap-tacular and so I am not buying much, even from the our Marketplace.
I am really hoping that after the elections happen that the dollar start to improve.

6. Souldoll have PayPal as form of payment, so I imagine you can use it as well to pay in won. Just message them about it and ask how it would work to pay them since they may have a preference, maybe it will work like a layaway where you will send the payment directly to their PayPal. Paying like this does take some dollars down, I also saved more than one hundred dollars on a new doll I got with this. If you have choice buy clothes, wigs and accessories like this as well. The money saved is worth it.

7. Erm...

Is what they refer to.

8. Elysion I am also hoping the Canadian federal elections will be the solution for our lame dollar haha
Sadi-chan & Temishi The thing is I'm worried they will simply convert 600.00 USD into won and charge me that... It's gonna end up having the same toll on me, so how can I get them to charge me 660,000 won rather than 680.00 USD? :doh That's what I'm having a hard time figuring out.

9. You think the Canadian dollar is bad, but the Aussie dollar is worse! A couple of years ago we were at parity, now we're under 70 US cents to the dollar. Sigh, I'm not buying anything at the moment. I should stop looking at the market place, I keep finding things that would be great if i didn't have to factor in the exchange rate.

10. Dayme I went to look their site and my bet is that they will ask you the value of the Korean site, since is the value on won. If you are afraid of they converting from dollar and asking more you need to ask them. They are the only ones who can give a sure answer about that.

11. Yeeeeaaaahhh, the Aussie dollar sucks really bad at the moment, so my poor Atticus and Pascal will have to go without bodies for a while longer. Plus I have no job so that doesn't help either lol.

12. I am sticking more to the 'end goal' items now... no more "omg I love that outfit even though it doesn't fit what I'm going for!" ... my original 'eventual' plan was all regency era (thus a lot of commissioned work). I am getting more focused on doing that and excluding the stunning outfits that only 'sort of fit' the look or just fit my 'other' loved look (pirates). I guess in a nutshell it's "focused" what I spend on... Still spending nearly as much but getting more of my 'end goal' stuff and less 'oooh pretty!' stuff LOL.

13. I'm also Canadian and it hurts whenever I purchase something doll related. I wish I had not gone on hiatus in the spring, the dollar was still fine then! I purchased $100 USD worth of clothes, eyes and a wig for my doll so I could start taking photos of her but it ended up being like, $140 CAD worth. It may not seem like the biggest difference but I could have used that $40 for something else! I only took EMS on my purchases if it was the only option, just to save some money. It's a bummer, I never used to worry about it before. I hope it increases soon, I want to buy more doll stuff!

14. Well, I'm from Hong Kong where the HK dollar is pegged to the US dollar so currency value isn't really something I have to worry about too much, unless I'm thinking of buying dolls and doll things from Japan.

15. Yes it affects me ALOT... now I inhibit myself from buying anything before checking the price difference from USD to CAD T_T (sigh) I really want to do a layaway but I cannot foresee if CAD will get lower or not~~~ I guess I have to stop myself from looking at doll company sites and the marketplace for a while >_>

16. Very. I hate the conversion right now (from CAD to USD). It almost got me into trouble one time. So the story goes like this. One day, I wanted to buy a grail doll head. I posted a 'want to buy' thread on the marketplace. I decided on the amount I was willing to pay: around $200-$350 (with extras included). But the problem was, in my head, I was thinking $200-$350 CAD. I forgot that the main currency used was USD (first time buying second-hand :doh). So, imagined my horror when someone took up my offer and sent me an invoice in USD! I was so shocked because I didn't have enough money at that time (I just bought a doll beforehand :doh) because of the awful currency conversion. My bank account over-drafted and I almost backed out but thankfully, a friend of mine lent me some money. Eventually, I bought the head and everything was fine. It was a hard-lesson for me. Really, I felt so stupid at that time. I was so stressed out. I stayed away from buying things for months. I even stayed away from the marketplace to prevent any temptation. Now, I carefully planned all my expenses when it comes to dolls. I can't risk things like that happening again.

Well, that's my story. :XD:

17. Oh. I'm from Russia, and it took me some time to understand that 1$ is not 35RUB anymore, and it's more like 65RUB. Well, I need to work a little harder, but I still have my doll plans for this year ^_^' And paying in won can be very helpful.

18. Wow I feel so bad for you...
For us in the UK the British Pound is worth more than the dollar....so if something was $100 we would pay about £60 to £65 for it...
But we still have to be responsible though :kitty2

19. Yes of course it is. The exchange rate dollar - euro is terrible at the moment. When I bought my first doll (Soom Beryl fullset) in 2008 I paid 1200 dollar, which was 800 euro. I hope to order a Iplehouse Leonard with faceup etc etc The price is about 1020 dollar, which is 925 euro at the moment. Just to give an idea how bad is it. So yes, I'm very very reluctant to press that buy button.... Dolls have become more and more expensive over the years because of the exchange rate. It's making me rethink twice and then again twice before I press that buy button.

So, I don't know yet if Leonard is coming home this year... I can't really decide. It's so much money for a doll.

20. order now... at least at this moment you can do layaway until November 11... It's better than waiting until DC is your only option AND the bonus is you can get the carved tattoo right now also ^^ (it's not available in doll choice ^^).... no outfits left but his weapons I believe are still not 'sold out' yet also ^^... Time to think hard on that dollar thing eh???
