Your dolls and posing (or lack thereof)

Apr 16, 2014

    1. I have a Doll Leaves 70cm boy and he stands like a rock out of the box. He will stand on just about anything with just about anything on his feet. He's also a very good and co-operative poser. It always feels like he's trying really hard to get into the pose I want him to and hold it, even if it's something really awkward.

The only thing he does though is his right hand is quite flicky and if he's holding something in that hand he'll usually wait til I move away to take a photo and then flick whatever he's holding backwards over his head. Clown. ;)

    2. I have a Doll Leaves 60cm boy who just keeps getting floppier!! He's second-hand and I'm probably his third owner so its understandable but nothing I seem to do with fix his jelly legs!! I've tried restringing him but that was a complete fail, so I might end up taking him apart and sending him out to be sueded and restrung by a pro because I can't for the life of me do it myself it seems!!! I have 2 XM-Doll bodies coming in from Mirodoll and I've heard that they are good posers, but a bit tightly strung. In all honesty, I would probably rather a doll be tightly strung to the floppy mess that is my Doll Leaves Noir :XD: The only poses he can hold are ones sitting down and even then he can't support his own legs!!

    3. My dolls run the gamut from excellent posing to barely being able to lounge. My best poser is probably Miracle Doll/DZ hybrid. I've got an old school 72cm DZ body which I sueded and he poses like a champ. He can do absolutely anything. Runner up is my Supia girl. She was great right out of the box. I haven't even bothered sueding her. Honorable mention goes to my Granado Nuevo guy. He's pretty sturdy and his jointed hands are super awesome.

Worst poser is probably my Angelsdoll Massive gal. Though switching out her heeled feet to a pair from Souldoll helped with stability. My Soom MG can't sit or stand without heaving himself towards the floor within 30 seconds. My Crobidoll M line body is a cantankerous arsehole who always wants to stick out his bum no matter how I string and sued him.

    4. I always restring my dolls as soon as they get here and I also wire them. Wiring helps a lot for standing and posing better.

    5. I'm not the best at posing dolls, but I can say this :
Mini-Link (Bobobie) his the worst poser ever... even after a restring and change of strings he still stand horribly. This guy will need a very good sueding and wiring. Poor thing, he can't even sit upright. Can't hate him, he is my first BJD.
My Iplehouse girls doesn't give me much trouble and my Soom ID51 poses like a champ!

    6. I agree about the KDFs, I once forgot my girl standing for an entire weekend! And she was totally fine xD

My dollzone girl (old body) isnt the greatest poser, but she sits really naturally

    7. Some of my best posers have been a surprise:
Granado 68cm boy (old body): I got this guy to do some impressive things! He does lack a good locking system for his chest joint though.
LegendDoll 62cm boy: No one had one when I got him, but he poses so well! I wasn't sure what to expect for a cheap body like that, but its super nice.
LoongSoul 73cm boy (1st version): He's the tallest doll I own, yet poses wonderfully! everything is very well engineered in that body =w=
IOS 70 and 60cm boys: They both pose really nicely and naturally.
And no one lounges like my Popodoll 68cm fella. He's like, boneless.

On the other hand, some of the most frustrating dolls have been a surprise too:
Feepl65 girl: she stood nicely, but she couldn't sit! She flopped over constantly and couldn't cross or spread her her legs. She found a new home >.>
Iplehouse Super Hero: he can't sit without a lot of work, has to be stood very carefully because of his awful ankles, and forget about doing much else. He has the old elbows that look ridiculous when used as a double joint. But... he sure is purty >w>
DollFamily-H 1st gen 60cm boy body: Dear god. His nickname was fetal position. He arrived kicky and collapse-y, so he got restrung several times & sueded and STILL wouldn't cooperate when it came to standing. He did sit at least.
Limwha 60cm girl body: God I love how she looks, but she takes a lot of finesse to get to sit and stand. I love her though, she's lovely <3
Soom SG boy new body: Gadzooks. These fellas flop over at the hips constantly! And the new faux double jointed elbow is hard to deal with inside a sleeve

    8. I swear by Obitsus. I love the one I have and can't wait for the one on it's way. Of course, I cheat and get magnet feet, but she's a fashion model, posing is crucial to her job.

Posing can make or break a picture. I tend to go for an angle of some kind, whether it's the head tilted a little, or the torso at a little angle. It doesn't always work, but it helps a lot. And eyes off to the side is an absolute must for me. Love it.

Hands and arms are often neglected in a pose, but can add so much life! Even if all you have are the default hands, turning them different ways can make them look different.

Props are great too! In my first Amiga gallery, she poses with flowers in her hands and I think it adds life to the picture. Gives her something to do and connects her with the environment around her.

    9. Dollfie Dreams and Obitsu, of course, have the most amazing posing abilities~ Though I have to say I am a little spoiled with the little bit of extra mobility Obitsus have. Since their ankles are a little bit more flexible than Dollfie Dreams (unnaturally so) they are able to stand in high heels without different parts.

On the resin end, I find that Unoa are amazing at posing and standing. They're really wonderful for that. My Sist is a rock and poses her arms and legs really gracefully and naturally!

    10. My best poder is the little doll love yoyo, also my dolln doll king lucian, and i had to restring and hot sueded my momocolor tasha, now she poses better, i'm having a little trouble triying with the bambicrony belleza body, i think i have to restring her, but that freaks me because i never restring an SD before

    11. My Fairyland and Iplehouse pose great and stand with little trouble. My Dollmore Reaa with her high heeled feet has some trouble standing, but her arms hold any pose I put her in. My Reinsoul dragons, Pixiu and Sui, need help - they are kicky and don't hold poses at all! My others are about average I would say, sometimes they give me trouble other times they want to work with me.

    12. i have a dragondoll zhao, her posing is very good. she hold every pose :)

    13. My MK Lawrence stands really steadily, and came very tightly strung right out of the box. His arms don't really like to stay bent above his head, and his legs only bend so far, but overall I can't complain. He sits beautifully.

    14. My newest doll, an OD ll Vampire, cannot stand. I'm hopeful that adding S-hooks to his feet will help as my other OD doll (same body, years older, different head) stands okay (wonky knees aside) and has S-hooks in his feet and he stands okay even if you need to fiddle with him and have tons of patience. Everything else about him is great, but he seriously cannot stand and I actually emailed Leeke (with photos as proof) detailing the issue.

    15. Of my 3 dolls my two MSD's pose effortlessly. One is a Doll Family H girl the other is a Luts Model Delf. They can sit stand hold things hug each other no problem. My SD on the other hand has some unfortunate issues. She can stand just fine a little balancing is needed and she's good to go bent knee and everything. Her pegged hips how ever make it impossible for her to sit down. She can sit with heel legs ok but normal feet she needs to be propped up and be cross legged. So unfortunate cause she is gorgeous. Luts really should consider a lock in the hips to help with sitting.

    16. My HZ Boss is the only doll I have that poses like a rock. He stands effortlessly and solidly, is quite flexible, and holds any position I put him in.

My Kid Delf Salgoo is my next best poser. She poses nicely and hold her positions...when she is not standing. It takes a lot of effort to get her to stand, but she is usually stable once she is just right.

Next is my Soom Phonolus, who takes effort to put in any pose or stand but is solid and will hold once in place. I think he may need to be restrung though; one of his arms and one of his legs are loose.

My last two, DollLove Alice and Migidoll Cho, are just not good posers at all. My DollLove will not stand at all, not matter what I do nor is she that flexible. However, she is great at holding simple poses. My Migidoll on the other hand will stand just fine but cannot hold even the simplest poses with his arms...I think he needs to be restrung too.

    17. babymoose96 oh.. i'd like to see your Boss. i have HZ Guhu for almost 1,5 years and still can't deal with his torso joint - i can hardly move it and can't fix it at all(

    18. I was pleasantly surprised by the posability of my Fantasy Doll body. I was trying out all kinds of wacky poses just to see if he would stand, and mostly he did. I'm having the most struggle making his (hybrid) jointed hands look naturally posed. I love the jointed hands, but the ones I have are quite floppy. :XD:

    19. I have problems getting my dolls to pose, too! Some seem strung TOO tight and others I just can't get them to balance. I sometimes cheat my laying them down to get photos but that is so limiting. I'm not comfortable attempting to re-string them yet, but I guess with time they will loosen up.

    20. My RP SoSo is really hard to pose, knees collapse, right elbow kinks out. But I love her anyways. She's just so cute!
