Your dolls and their eyebrows

Apr 2, 2007

    1. There are two types of eyebrows I really love, the more rounded type enginesoftime, posted of their Kakeru. Another example of what I mean is here:
And a type which is similar to that, but more straight and less rounded. It's the type my old FCS had because I loved it so much, this is the style I mean:
      [IMG][IMG]

    2. I actually like eyebrows the same way you do- realistic and thicker for boys and thinner and lined for girls. But the particular doll I want has pretty thin eyebrows. I mean, they're kind of realistic, but because of the REASON I want the doll, I don't mind the eyebrows being thin. They actually need to be thin to pull off the look I want.
So I totally agree with you. :D Pretty thick realistic boy eyebrows! I love eyebrows.

    3. I like more realistic eyebrows usually. Don't like super pointy ones, makes the dolls look mean to me.

    4. For me it depends on the character. For example my Vincente will have rather realistic and manly eyebrows while Zesil (who is an alien) will get very thin ones.
For women I usually prefer thin eyebrows (not those "I shaved my brows and drew new ones with a pencil" -brows, though.)

The problem is I'm not good at making realistic brows yet. x'D

    5. Interesting question...
I always do eyebrows first, but it's also a little of how the mould has been made, or how I ( or my clients) want the character to be as to how my brows turn out. So I have to say they are all a bit different.

    6. It depends on the sculpt. I prefer they actually look like brows made up of many hairs though, regardless of their shape/size.

    7. I prefer brows to have a little volume and feathered for both genders. I really hate pencil thin ones :\ They reminded too much of what a lot of girls did to their brows in high school. Very bad makeup application.

    8. Depends a lot on the look I want for that particular doll. I was trying for realistic eyebrows when I painted my DoCs, but my Soom Tinies don't have eyebrows at all; they have painted masks instead.

    9. Oooh, I DO like looking at eyebrows in a faceup! They are so important... really, it's the thing an artist can play about with the most since it's drawn entirely on the doll and doesn't have any guidelines dictated by the sculpt like the lips and eyelashes do. And eyebrows can REALLY affect the expression so much! More than anything, really!

Thin eyebrows can be great. I don't dislike the look at all.

But I really do enjoy the thick, realistic eyebrows on males! Sometimes because they used to be more rare years ago. But I still like seeing them even now. :)

    10. i also like very realistic eyebrows. pencil thin is dumb, unless the doll really needs it.

    11. I like eyebrows on dolls the same way I like them on people; thick and full. Not bushy nor pencil thin. Having said that I have seen some truly beautiful dolls with thin eyebrow and even some with bushy eyebrows I loved! I still tend to gravitate to a thicker brow however.

    12. I love realistic thicker eyebrows; however, I tend to do my own faceups with arched thinner ones. I'm not entirely sure why, but it may be because I draw 2D eyebrows in a similar way. ^^;;;;

    13. I think I really like the real looking eyebrows, they are just so neat. And to me I think they look better. I'm not saying the pencil ones look bad, they don't. I just like how the doll has actual lashes.

    14. I'm probably part of the minority who likes those short Jrock style eyebrows :S But I guess its based on one's perception of what looks good.

    15. Since I prefer realistic, mature-looking sculpts, I also prefer realistic-looking eyebrows. :)

    16. Visual kei eyebrows look very good in my opinion ^.^

    17. Funnily I was actually changing my dolls eyebrows last night.

When I got him all thoes years ago he had light brown angry eyebrows but very sad eyes. I wanted him to look sad and as his hair was black I painted on both some eye lashes and sad eyebrows.

Last night I was looking at him and decided it was time he looked more hopeful, so I took off the paint, sanded off the original ones that were underneath and used a pastel pencil to give him hopeful brows.

I think that eyebrows can really change the mood and character of your doll.

    18. The eyebrows I admire most are the super realistic ones with soft looking hairs with lots of detail and depth. However, my own dolls tend to have eccentric eyebrows since I prefer to paint them myself. One has extremely thin and angular brows, another very short eyebrows and the third has no eyebrows at all

    19. I prefer natural face-ups so natural eyebrows are the ones I like best. :]

    20. I like both it totally depends on the sculpt
