Your Dolls in Your Wedding??

Sep 26, 2007

    1. If I ever got married I would love to have my dolls there, I mean they're part of my family too right XD. Although yeah my family is quite a rowdy bunch (at my cousin's wedding earlier this year we only had a quarter of our lot there and we managed to drink the bar dry by 10pm, the thing only started at 7:30pm lol) so I would be afraid of the 'kids' getting hurt.

I'd probably bring Kaito with me to wait it out before the wedding as he keeps me calm. I'd love to set up all my dolls in a display for the wedding but I'm quite overprotective of them. I'll probably have one of those pre-wedding shoot things done (my mum insists on those kinds of things) so I'd definately have my dolls there for that (I want to go get a family portrait done with me, my boyfriend, Kaito and Shreds).

I know that Kaito will be at my wedding no matter what. Because he and I have a special connection and it just seems right for him to be at such an important event in my life. Plus he'll look cute in a little tux...or maybe a nice dress and be in my bridal party XD. I can get my sister or my mum and dad to look after him, they wouldn't mind, they love him too lol. Then again my wedding will be anything but traditional.

    2. my son wil definitly have to attend my wedding no matter what XD

    3. Really, I would probably bring Shin and Azel to my wedding, though not necessarily actually out in public. For me, Shin and Azel calm me, and make me feel better about being nervous - so I'd probably have them with me, but not necessarily around where people could possibly break them.

    4. If I had my dolls at the time, I would have prettied them up in bridal attire and posed them with the presents. If my husband and I have a rededication ceremony, I will definitely include them.

    5. A friend of mine who collects BJDs had to go to his sister's wedding, and she let him bring one of his dolls along. Practically the whole of the rest of his family had teensy-weeny lapdogs sat by their feet or on their knees, and he had his Sylvie in a coordinating outfit. They looked lovely, too ^.^

In the unlikely event I ever get married, I would like my dolls to be at the reception - I've visions of some sort of tiered display like a hinamatsuri display, with ivy and flowers - they're a vitally important part of my life, my passion, and possibly my future livelihood, so of course they're going to be there. If I was a baker, I'd have the best wedding cake - if I was a tailor, I'd have the best dressed wedding - but I make dolls, so dammit, I'm having dolls. Plus making them all matching wedding outfits would keep my mind off getting married itself and stop me panicking and booking a flight to Madagascar.

    6. Ahhh I am getting married next spring, but I doubt my doll will be there. I'm sure if I really wanted her to I could have her on display, but I'm also going to be having a (possibly) teething infant there to take care of (i.e. leave with Papa and Nana) as well. I think my son will take priority over the doll.

Besides, I will have guests with small children that aren't well behaved. I could imagine one of my little cousins deciding he wanted to play with the pretty dollie on the table and breaking something.

    7. I like your spunk Brsis!! But what do you mean that your getting married is unlikely? You don't want to, or you think you won't find someone? If it's the latter, don't think that way! There's a whole world of people out there, and I'm sure you can find soemone that suits you!

And congrats to all the newlyweds or soon to be newlyweds that posted!

    8. I just happen to not be a marriage person, but it's a lovely day for a lot of people and I think that if people want to include their dolls, they should - whether as a display, or in their dressing rooms beforehand for comfort, or even carrying them down the aisle in a matching dress or tux if you want. I like the idea of tinies as cake toppers!

    9. If I ever get married, I would definatly want my dolls to attend. ^^ Chances are, I'd probably play with before the actual wedding, before, during, and after the reception. XD (And Megumi would have a matching dress like me while my boys will be wearing tuxedos)

The only thing though I think would have to happen if I have my mother or someone who understands the worth (sentimental-wise) of them to watch them to make sure nothing and I mean nothing  happen to my family on my special day.

But that's hopefully sometime in the future. :sweat

    10. Okay, when I saw this post I was sooooooo happy. My boyfriend (lack of a better word) and I have a two year old boy, I'm in my 40's, he is in his 30's and we are planning our wedding for Halloween in a few years. One, because three failed ones between us and we wanted our little one to be in the wedding. Some of my dolls and our dolly group that is here in town are going to be at the wedding with their dolls. Some of the group knows about it and think it's pretty cool. We have monthly meetings and my BF and I decided that it would be pretty cool to host that months "dolly meet" and incorporate it into the wedding. So Hella yeah, the dolls will be there. I might actually be able to get my dolls dressed in the appropriate attire by then. :) :). I have a couple of years to get it done.
I'm not real concerned if others who are coming to the wedding, (various family members) are creeped out about it or not. They will be anyway because it's going to be Halloween, so the dolls will be an after thought for them. :) I just can't wait to see what all of the doll group dress their resin gang up in. I can guarantee it's going to be great pictures. :)

    11. Shold I ever get married, I fully intend my horse to attend. So why wouldn't I have my doll attend?

In all seriousness, I'd probably want Andy there. I've only known him a month but I already know he keeps me very calm in stressful situations. I would at least use him whilst getting ready. My little sister (not that little, 16) loves him already, so I'm sure she'd look after him for me, and probably carry him down the aisle if I requested her to. Whether I actually will have him at the ceremony, I don't know. Only time will tell I guess.

    12. I got married in June. My husband wanted a doll, so I got him one for a wedding present. None of the dolls came to the wedding though. There was too much stuff going on, too many things to carry around and worry about. There was no way I was bringing one or more of the dolls.

Then again, I don't bring my dolls to cons either. They're too much of a hassle to arrange travel and accommodations for, and I'm too busy with costuming stuff to take care of them.

    13. I didn't have any of my crew when BSR and I got married ('Way back in the Dark Ages... ^_^), but if I had, Harumatsu or Al might well have had a small part of some sort to play.

As it was, my sister-in-law's little stuffed dog, Clifford... a plushie that's sort of my husband's family's mascot (Kristi has had him since she was a baby, and treats him like a lot of us treat our dolls. My mother-in-law occasionally refers to him as her "third child"-)... was carried by the Best Man, and kept an eye... or paw, as the case may be... on the ring until it was time to hand it over. I have no trouble imagining a favorite doll in the same position.

    14. Um.... I'm not sure^.^;; I'm defenantly not getting married any time soon..... so that would put a bit of a damper on things..... But I might think about it now that you mentioned it.

    15. I was married last year, and i did include two of my dolls in the wedding. Rather than a have cake topper, which I probably would have thrown away after the wedding, I decided to do something a little different. I ordered wigs.eyes etc. for two of my dolls (The Flamebornes!) so that they would look a little bit like myself and my husband, and then sewed matching wedding outfits for them. They stood next to the cake. Here's a picture! It made things a lot more special than just some cheap plastic thing that I would have thrown out, and everyone loved them!

    16. Aww, Azurielle, that is amazing! They look just like you two! And you look so happy in your wedding picture. : D

    17. thats just so sweet azurielle ^^ hehe

i think its a nice idea to have your dolls there if you want to. personally, i have no idea what id do XD

    18. Oh Azurielle, that's a fantastic Idea. I love it. The wedding we are planning is an Addams Family theme, so to find outfits for both my DES and Narin would be pretty cool. :)

    19. OH my gosh!! That is so sweet!!!! What a lovely idea!

And those tiny cake toppers are just too precious!!!!
