Your favorite and least favorite sculpts?

Nov 13, 2015

    1. I guess my favorite is probably Volks Kyotenshi Shiratori... that smile is sooo cute.
Least favorites... please don't hate me y'all, but it has to be Venitu and FL Chloe. Edit: Someone mentioned sorrowful dolls and it made me think of Ringdoll Mona. I absolutely HATE that sculpt. I won't even be nice about this one. Hate me if you want but it's absolutely disturbing and distressing to me. She honestly looks like one of her loved ones just died in front of her. I cannot imagine having that doll in my house and having to look at that hopeless, sobbing face. Godddddd............ I'm sorry xD

    2. Mona is such an interesting doll, you either LOVE her or HATE her, there is no in between. I couldn't have her in my collection, she's depress me.

    3. I don't think I've really been in the hobby long enough to know for sure what is my ABSOLUTE favorite, but I've gotta say that the Spirit Doll Smart bodies are absolute perfection. Such detail, such grace.

I have a love/hate relationship with Doll Chateau sculpts...I'm halfway between creeped out and amazed, depending on the doll. Overall, I think they're kinda cool in a creepy way.

    4. The raw creativity of Doll Chateau sculpts blows me away! But I would never want to own one. Too creepy.

    5. I'm very picky with doll sculpts so I can only say what sculpts I like because most of the dolls I see from time to time aren't really my "type"

Sculpts I like: My doll Volks SDC Mina, Volks SD Lieselotte and Charlotte, SWITCH Waseon, Bluefairy's Sarang and way back then, Dikadoll's Blanca 2.

I think the reason why I like those sculpts is that the face is proportional in a way that it's "cute" or just my standard and the noses are cutely small shaped and has really really cute or pretty eyes. I prefer asian-looking dolls more than western-looking scuplts.

    6. There would be no way for me to pick a favorite I don't think. In general I love Dollzone. So delicate and such sweet detail. I have followed Nabarro since her first doll was on Flickr, but never got one, but they're gorgeous to me. I love some of the older CP sculpts... I really love delicate details and expressiveness.

The only dolls I tend to not care for are the extreme beauties. In the conventional/Western flavor of beauty. Or dolls that look sort of...dead. Expression-wise. But even out of those, sometimes I'll love a particular one depending on the way someone presents it.

    7. My favorites:Most Elfdolls. I found my interest in this hobby because of Elfdolls, although I seem to found interest at the wrong time, seeing as the site is down and it might not come back up again!! I really love: Elfdoll Vivien, Elfdoll Soah, Zaoll Luv basic...

My least favorites: Has to be Minifee dolls, especially Chloe. I feel like all of the faces look extremely similar and it seems like everyone owns one. I do love the way the dolls look, I think they're pretty.. but I guess I just don't really like the extremely big eyes or... something about them... I'm not sure if I would ever own one.

    8. My favorite dolls are old-school sculpts. I like the doll-like quality they have, even if I prefer to put them on bodies that make them a little less bobble-headed.

My least favorite dolls: Realistic sculpts like Sooms or Iplehouse. They are very well made, but they remind me too much of mannequins. (weird, since I used to own two... but got sold pretty quickly, because they didn't do anything for me)

    9. Oh gosh, picking favorites is going to be really hard. I obviously like all the sculpts I own, but I suppose that among my very favorites would be Iplehouse BID Coco (probably a "love it or hate it" type sculpt, with his/her little tongue sticking out) and Granado Pancho. Iplehouse Claude would also be on the list, but I've seen many others that I like more than my own, and I'm not sure what the problem is. It's quite frustrating.

Among my least favorites... aside from whole companies that just don't appeal to me...would be Dollshe Saint. I know he's well-liked, but he does nothing for me :( It might be partially because he looks like someone I used to know... not a bad or negative relationship by any means, but just...not something I want in a doll, I suppose.

    10. My favorite sculpt is DollZone Edward. No competition. The lines of his face are just so elegant and beautiful, but you couldn't tell that from the way the promo photos presented him. That's probably why he was never popular. :(

Least favorite...IMPLDoll Aaron. I had one, and he was just such a disappointment to me. I liked his sculpt less and less the longer I had him. We also had kind of a troubled history together, as he "attacked" me with one of his S-hooks, and in return I mutilated his face in a failed eye mod.

I ended up posting him on the Marketplace, and to my immense surprise, I got TWO offers for him overnight. Just goes to show you that what people want is all a matter of personal taste. :)

    11. I'm really drawn to certain companies. I really like Impldoll, Ringdoll, 5star Doll, Blue Fairy, Soom, Rosen Lied.

I'm not into DIM, Resin Soul/Bobobie, Kaye Wiggs. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of atm.

I mainly stick to realistic fantasy dolls for my own collection though.

    12. Well, obviously, I love all the sculpts I own. Considering that I have 34 dolls from 22 different companies, there's obviously a lot of styles I enjoy. I think it's safe to say that I seem drawn to the more unusual/less popular sculpts as many of my guys are just that. To pick a favourite would be really hard as I like them all for different reasons.

Ones that I consistently go back and sigh over that I don't own would be Luts Abadon, Impl Miguel Demon Hunter, Unidoll Ark, Soom Kremer Sprite of Slumber (head only, with the Azur mertail body), SoulDoll Vito Rail... there's others, but those are ones that I really enjoy that I don't have (yet).

What I don't like at all and wouldn't keep even if given to me? Doll Chateau and Circus Kane. The styling of those is just... no. I'm highly disappointed that DZ seems to be morphing into a DC clone (and yes, I know they're sister companies). It's my opinion that DZ and DC should hold each other at arms length so they don't overlap stylistically as they are doing now. I don't like Kaye Wigs, possibly because they're so child-like and I'm not a fan of kids (real or dolls). Popovy (sp?) is a whole lot of ugh to me and very similar in styling as DC. Really dislike Volks, too.

    13. My favorites have to be MK Lillian, RS Mei, Volks DD candy, DC Bells, and the Lati yellow bat children.

My least favorites are anything by Soom, sorry not into limited dolls and that's all I really see from them, Dollzones newer dolls, they look werid to me, most of fairyland, not saying all, I actually like a bunch of FL's stuff but it's just over hyped, and any doll with an oversized bust just not attractive to me

    14. I cannot say which sculpts I like best. I seem to have a pretty good tolerance level. I tend to hate bad posers but this has nothing to do with how beautiful I find them. By and large, I tend to dislike extremely pointed chins and extra long noses. So any sculpts showing both particularities will never make it past the underground level.

    15. My favorite sculpt ever is dream of doll's Rain. I also love only kids Pine, mystic kids Francis SP, pretty much every grown ringdoll and so many luts, also doll family A's Wen. There are so many more of course.
One sculpt I really don't like is doll chateau's Irma. It honestly scares me. I like a lot of doll chateau's sculpts but that one is just not my cup of tea.

    16. Your collection is astounding. I aspire to this level of collecting. I need to branch out and look at other companies, I know I'm missing out just looking at really common/popular companies.

    17. Well I really love the resinsoul Song sculpt (I also like the other MSDs of theirs). But I don't like doll chateau, they look really cool, my friend has a few and she made them look awesome, but I just don't like them. If you have doll chateau I still think your dolls are cool just not my style =)

    18. *Gets out her list*

Okay, favorites are: Dollmore Narsha, Dollmore Zihu, Dollmore Alexia, Dollmore Sona, Maskcat Ronia, Maskcat Evelyn, Maskcat Nerine, Supia Sujin, Unoa Lusis, Asleep Eidolon Aure, Soulkids Sasha, Dollstown Deogi, and almost all of the Iplehouse KID line. :)

Least favorites are usually dolls that are just weirdly proportioned or don't seem to photograph well. I'm actually not a huge fan of MOST Volks, larger Luts lines, or any dolls with anime eyes. Based on stock photos, I only like two DIM faces out of all of their dolls, though their bodies are great. I am also not a huge fan of any sinister-looking dolls, so most vampire lines are also out, as far as I'm concerned :D

    19. I have a hard time coming up with an overall favorite sculpt because there are so many beautiful ones out there... Maybe Volks Suigintou or Suiseiseki?

On the same token, I have a hard time choosing a least favorite sculpt, as well... I don't really care for anything from Bobobie or DollZone. I love an expressive mouth & neither of those brands tend to have what I look for in that. I can appreciate them, but I would never consider owning one.

    20. Probably one of my favorite sculpts that I don't own yet is Iplehouse Ashanti. She's unique and not many other sculpts look like her or are even close. In general I'm my favorites tend to be distinctive sculpts with strong features. Least favorite; sculpts with generic features because they tend to look alike to me.
