1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your favorite and least favorite sculpts?

Nov 13, 2015

    1. What I like and dislike can change really fast. Im really fond of the Ringdoll Julia at the moment. Ive read thats lots of you dont like open mouth dolls but when I see a doll who smiles and shows a little teeth, Im sold!
Least favorite would be the Doll Chateau Alberta. The human butt and feet creep me out. Im also not fond of the doll zone carter (I know teeth, but creepy teeth). Those American looking dolls (kaye wiggs?) Are also on my dislike list. But like I said, it can change.

    2. My favourite is Shinydoll Suzune, but I also love anything sculpted by Gu Mijeong (eg Zaoll) or YG (eg Lati, Bambicrony). I really like hand sculpted dolls.

I'm another who doesn't like Soom sculpts, I feel like they are oddly mirrored, too wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. In general 3D software generated dolls do not appeal, not just Soom.

    3. Lets see... Favorite sculpts. Definitely SOOM Heliot and Amber specifically. I really love Dollstown's bodies (ESPECIALLY the 18 yr female), but don't like any of their heads. ): I tried to like Soi because I really wanted the body for a character, but I just couldn't convince myself and I'm too lazy to make hybrids. Also a big fan of Doll Chateau Alberta, but I'd want her without the extra legs.

My biggest specific dislike is Unoa Lusis. The reason being, and this is going to sound silly, the facial structure looks just like my niece and it freaks me out a little bit (it doesn't help that we're not on good terms). As far as nonspecifics, I don't like old Dollzone and Luts sculpts, but that's mostly because I've moved away from Anime-esque dolls.

    4. Yeah, as much as I like Alberta's general shape and antlers, I feel like she would look better with hooves and a cute little moosey tail. That being said, my favorite sculpt is probably Soom's (I think it's Soom, at least) Nephelin.

Anime type dolls like some Dollfies I've seen kind of creep me out even though I like anime. Their faces just don't seem to have translated well to 3D, and their eyes give me this flat, dead-ish vibe.

    5. Aside from some favorite companies--I really love Souldoll and Doll Chateau, I tend to go more for certain features more than others. I love really strong noses, accordingly Unidoll Jace is one of my all time favorite sculpts. I'm also madly in love with Ringdoll K. I love wide mouths too. LittleRebel, Freakstyle, and DollClans are all on my list of companies whose dolls I'd love to own.

As far as sculpts I don't like as well, I'd have to say Luts, Fairyland, and Soom are all pretty high on that list. They're all a little too pretty and perfect for my own taste. Fantasy sculpts tend to leave me a little cool too.

    6. Favorite doll scuplts: Dollmore Mio and Merry Doll Round Fang. I really like dolls that look Asian. It's kinda odd that they're hard to find, considering BJDs are made in China, Japan, and Korea.
Least favorite: I don't like alot of Fairyland head sculpts. I think the bodies are gorgeous and wonderfully poseable, but I'm not a fan of the thin nose, huge eyes, tiny mouth aesthetic.

    7. My absolute favorite sculpt is Migidoll Jina, hands down. Jina is the doll that got me back into BJDs after selling my only BJD, a RS Song, several years ago. I don't think it's possible for me to like another BJD as much as Jina.

As for least favorites, I can't really name any specific sculpts I overly dislike, but I really, really, REALLY hate Doll Chateau....not so much their faces, but their bodies really freak me out. I also am not really fond of very anime-esque BJDs. While I love anime, I don't think the whole anime look translates well into doll form. I'm also not very big into BJDs with more round heads. It looks odd to me.

    8. Charlotte, Lieselotte and Williams from Volks are my all time favorite and grail dolls. Some of my other favorites are LittleMonica's dolls, but I don't really have a reason why since I am the love-at-first-sight person.
From my personal opinion, the realistic dolls, like iplehouse, don't fit my taste. I think doll should be like a doll, or I should say not so human-like. Old Fairyland heads also don't fit my taste because of their huge eyes and pointy chin.

    9. I feel the same, she reminds me to a cousin I don't get along with so whenever I see an Unoa Lusis I just want to puke. For me all dolls are beautiful and I can see something unique in all of them but the Unoa Lusis is the only one I can't see that way. The sculpt makes me cringe.

As for favorites, it would be hard to name sculpts...let's say my dolls are my favorites =D

    10. I'm in love with my Kaye Wiggs dolls faces and how they aren't as real human looking but are still so much alive in expression.

    11. My favourites are: Granado Uranus, IMPL Gnaeus, Tony, Acorn, Martin, Bernice, Alma & Azalea, Doll-Leaves Asa, Iplehouse nYID Oscar & Juan, Souldoll Vito Lester and Zenith Robb, Spiritdoll Celtis and Thuja, and literally everything by Lumedoll. I like mature, realistic sculpts and the aesthetic of these particular dolls appeals to me a lot.

My least favourites are anything and everything ever sculpted by Fairyland, and mostly everything by Doll Chateau and a lot of stuff by DollZone. Not a fan of their aesthetics, honestly.

    12. My favourite sculpt is the switch shiho I've been looking to buy one for a very very long time but just haven't gotten around to it ahh! they are super lovely though! as for least favourite sculpts the ones that kind of turn me off are sculpts that look like babies or infants or anime-looking sculpts..

    13. I agree! They are some very, very beautiful dolls, but a lot of them lack "character" to me. I have this same problem with Iplehouse, despite admiring quite a few of their sculpts. They just seem a little too polished or something...?

Interestingly, I do like a lot of the sculptors and sculpts mentioned here by several other members as their "least faves." Kaye Wiggs has some really interesting girls; the price tag is what has kept me away. Nefer Kane creations are usually complete hit-or-miss for me, but the ones that "hit" definitely hit hard! I love Kameko, Moon, and her new little Onion. In general, I think I really just like what I supposed are classified more as "artist dolls" and styles like Doll Chateau that are a little bit out there.

Of my own dolls, CustomHouse definitely rules the roost! Though I do love and appreciate new and more realistic sculpts, something about old-school CH gets me. I think the next best-represented company in my collection is Notdoll, so that probably also tells you something right there, haha.

    14. I can't think of any specific sculpts to put directly on my least favorite list, because I've seen so many where I'm not that impressed with stock photos, but owner photos show how excellent they can be. I don't really like when the eyes are too close together, so that leads me away from a few Impldoll sculpts (though I had one of their bodies and it was really great) because they photograph like the eyes are very close, at least to my eye.

Favorite sculpts, I can't pick just one. I love the older Volks stylized heads a lot, and I love Kun. I am also a big fan of Napidoll heads, though I've never had one. For smaller dolls, Domadoll Cooki, hands down. For boys, I love Leeke Mihael. Nothing will top those lips for me.

    15. My favorite sculpts are a lot of anthro and monster dolls. I love the shape of Lillycat's cartoon body that is used on the bunny dolls and I adore the anthros that Pipos and Dearmine bring to the table. Aileendoll's bunny Becky also gets a mention because I am absolutely in LOVE with those PAWS. I also really like their cyclops dolls and dragon polymorphs. I'm sure you can guess my opinion on DC/DZ (and if you need a hint: I loove them)

As for least favorite I have to say a lot of the anime styled dolls I find a bit off-putting. Some of them work well but the others... I dunno man something about the eyes just doesn't work. It's weird because like figmas and such I think they look just fine... So it must be one of those weird details that you think is minor but actually changes the whole look of the face. Also while I wouldn't say they are my least favorite I find a lot of realistic sculpts to be rather same-y. Though, I suppose that more falls on the customization than the actual construction of the doll...
In the end I'm just one of those artsy farsty folks heh
