1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your favorite thing in the hobby

Feb 18, 2014

    1. Thi hobby is perfect because you can create whatever you want that you can't create in real life, miniaturisation is the best ^^
Making little glasses, little shoes... It's an open door to dreams and creativity !! :)
Spread the bjd love ! xD

    2. I love the fact that I've found 3-D representations of my novel characters! As I can no longer draw, this is just a blessing.

    3. I love writing backstories and engaging in meaningful character development. I often just place Molly in front of me and let my imagination run wild with nothing more than a pencil and a notebook. It's been bad for my wallet though, as now I "need" another doll to complete Molly's backstory. As if I needed another reason to spend money :sweat

That and finally completing a doll that had hitherto only existed in your mind as a concept. When the final piece comes together, and you see that your doll turned out even better than you had envisioned...that's the most satisfying feeling of all.
We live in a universe that seldom molds itself to our expectations, and when it does, it rarely exhibits the splendor and magnificence that was present in our minds. With a doll, you have complete control. Your doll, like your imagination, is limitless. And that, I think, is why we love this hobby and the little resin masterpieces that have captivated our hearts and emptied our wallets.

    4. My favorite part? Probably its the part were we build the characters and then search for clothing that matches the character.
And also all those hour were me and my friend build stories at compose photos.

    5. I also love the creativity and diversity of the hobby. Photography, crafts, storytelling, trad arts - almost any art form can be part or used to express one self with dolls.

And for plus side - you don't have to do all, you can pick the part you love doing (or one you are good at), like taking pictures, or sewing clothes, and you still are fully participating!

    6. It took me several tries to find a hobby that was right for me, but when I was introduced to BJDs it was an instant hit, and its influence in my life has grown and grown and grown. This hobby has so many amazing aspects.

I love to carry my dolls around. I love the fact that these dolls are SUPPOSED to be handled.
I love to undress and redress them and display them proudly in my room.
      I love to photograph them.
I love the fact that these dolls look exactly what I want them to look like.
I love to create elaborate backstories for my dolls.
I love the community. I have an amazing local community and hanging out with them is a blast.
I love that I can use my creative talents completely in this hobby.

I think I hit all of the major points. Not only are these dolls fun and I can do all of the above things with them, but they also give me a lot of comfort when nothing else can. People think the amount of money I spend to have them is ridiculous, but it's so worth it to me because this hobby is just amazing! I love everything about it!

    7. The dolls, I just love them. I love creating them, putting them together. I love when they are finished and you can dress them up. Spending time with them. It's a very personal hobby for me. I feel like if I fell off the map and stopped using forums I'd still love them just as much, maybe I'd even spend more time with them because I'd be talking about them less!

    8. Personalizing them with styling and hair and posing them in my office so I can see them - makes me smile!

    9. I'm another who loves creating characters and backstories. I don't do a lot of role playing, but I love making up characters and figuring out their lives and their relationship to my other characters. The problem with this is that I love characters so much that I find myself making too many characters and then wanting to get dolls for all of them. *sigh*

    10. My favourite thing is probably just having them with me. I love holding them and taking photos of them the best of all.

    11. I love just having my doll sit by me looking pretty. I love changing her clothes and taking pictures, and taking her out (for pictures or just to loiter).
I also love the community, seeing how people customize their dolls and meeting awesome people through the mutual love of these dolls.

    12. I've always loved dolls, ever since I was little, so I have collected others, but as soon as I saw BJDs I couldn't believe how beautiful and elegant they are! As a relative newcomer the best parts so far are - all the fun of dressing, changing wigs etc and getting a completely different look! Its like having different dolls! I'm hoping to get into making clothes myself too - I make my own stuff but I'm a bit nervous about making at MSD size! Maybe one day I will be brave enough to try face-ups too? I love the fact that there's a whole community out there, and its brilliant to connect with other collectors. I hope I can up with some local ones too.

Its just such a DIVERSE hobby with so many different ways to enjoy it - you can just dress and pose them nicely, or .... well the sky's the limit really depending only on finances and how much time you've got!

    13. My favorite thing about BJDs is that no matter how many dolls of the same sculpt there are, each doll is unique.

I love making my dolls *mine* I like to do the customization myself which expands my creativity and makes me feel content with what I have created. After getting their face ups, blushing and any other customization right, I love to dress them up! clothes and shoes are my passion when it comes to BJDs (not much in real life) and when I see the final product I like to look at them while thinking "I made this".

    14. I like that moment when you know ‘who’ your doll is. You can have a character you want to get a doll for or have a doll you need to give an identity to, but that is just a small portion of it and, while fun, not thrilling. When it all comes together and just clicks that is the best part.

    15. I could not agree more with you Atteropus, its all fun, but that moment when you look at the doll and say "I know you" that's it...

    16. I like to design and make their clothes. They wear anything from the Tinkerbell Tshirt I made last night.... to formal Medieval, to ancient Egyptian. I love the unending search for perfectly scaled props, accessories, the perfect wig, THE pair of shoes that will complete an outfit. I like to do faceups and wigs too... but yeah, mostly it is all about the clothes.

    17. My favourite thing in this hobby is to create characters and their personalities. When I get my doll and have done the faceup and customizing is "done" it starts growing. Sometimes I figure new things about them. Even if I build a background story and character, I get to know my own characters better day by day. It is hard to put on words - it's like I have created them, but after that they start living their own doll lives.

    18. I love photographing my dolls like all the time lol its so bad as i have too many pictures, i sometimes take them to different places to take pictures of them. i sometimes just take them from there shelf and have them sit with me while watching tv, or reading. I think its a comfort thing i love having them around :)

    19. My favorite thing is seeing the creativity, People who make Characters, stories, clothing, etc. For their Bjds. The variety of sculpts, body types and skin tones . From realistic to vampires and anime .. It is awesome to see Piercings, tattoos and other body modification on bjds. The possibilities are endless :D In my opinion :).

    20. Well, I love realizing my beloved characters. These are basically not original ones, but I made them my own and changed them to my liking. Some are more like the original ones (Marvel Avengers), some have changed a lot (Loki, Tony Stark), and some will not be realized at all (Hulk).

Right now, I love creating their outfits, doing research and comparing several sources. I equally love to makes or sometimes find their accessories. A 3D-printer would make that much easier, but I prefer creating things like weapons or gadgets otherwise.
