1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your last / final doll

Jun 7, 2013

    1. I am satisfied with my doll collection, but am thinking about "THE LAST" right now, actually. I think my collection is a great sampling of the unusual, the well loved, and the rare. For my last doll, I guess you could call it a grail doll, because what is a grail other than a doll you're 've wanted for a long time? She's not limited, or rare, but I've always wanted a Supia girl.

    2. Well, although I have been in the hobby for quite some time now, I had no real "direction" for my dolls. My preferred style is more realistic, I love Iplehouse dolls, of which I have two at the moment. About two I months ago, I decided to complete my doll group (I do not really consider it a collection) to portray my favourite Avengers. This means purchasing Thor, and eventually getting a body for Hawkeye. Then I think I will be done. But...if I had to pick one final grail sculpt...it would have to be an Iplehouse SID Claude. Not that he fits anywhere into my Avengers group, I just love him for himself. There are several Claudes I just love to look at in this forum (particularly that sweet lion boy of JennyNemesis), they simply bring me joy. So that would be my final choice if it came to that.

    3. As I'm just starting my idea is to keep to just a few dolls but already I wonder how long that resolve will last?! Spending time sewing for them is a cunning plan. However, already I am collecting clothes and planning outfits for dolls that I don't even have yet. If I was thinking of a LAST doll I would hope it would be something unusual and surprising. A doll that would make me and others smile at the sheer idea of it. Luckily, there do seem to be several doll makers out there with a similar ambition. Currently, I have my eye on Cerisedolls, perhaps Eugenie in some extraordinary new colour resin and with twitching ears.

    4. My final doll won't be more special than any of my others. I plan on continuing to collect until my favourite company stops making dolls (or changes style radically). At that point, I'll simply be completing my wishlist (which includes older limited editions I missed getting) as the dolls on it pop up secondhand, so whichever doll I get last will just be whichever doll happens to appear for sale last :)

    5. Hmmm I don't have a plan for my last doll. I'm not sure I will ever have one really. I try not to purchase too many dolls but there are always more up and coming sculpts and I'm sure as long as I'm involved in the hobby there will be must buys for me. I guess my last doll will be if and when I leave the hobby for good. And I don't see than happening anytime soon.

    6. My last shall be a FCS from Cali, bought together with my husband and I. :3

    7. The first doll of mine is loongsoul-Yingying(winter). From now, the last doll is volks mimi(Sweet dream), she is one-off, I love all of my dolls~
I want a BF- May( sweet dream). But its sold out.QAQ

    8. My last doll will be one among equals. There isn't a doll that I would get only if I planned to stop collecting, as I already have my grail and other 'must have' dolls that were on my wishlist. They were the ones I bought first. I can't imagine being done collecting dolls though, since companies are always coming out with awesome new sculpts ^_^

    9. Oh goodness!~ I can't ever imagine not wanting another doll, but I guess the best way to keep myself from an ever growing collection is to limit myself to the original characters of mine which I feel would shine as dolls. I'm a bit lucky I don't have 25+ like some people I know! Hahah~

I have a couple heads to buy bodies for and two dolls left on the "planned" list, but I hope to stop, or at least extremely slow down from there. These dolls arn't special, they're just not immediately limited, so I didn't rush to buy them like the others.

      That being said, I've accumulated a couple unfinished projects, so I'll stay busy in the hobby for some time even after making one of my last resin purchases in a long while. However, that doesn't mean I might not be tempted by someone new!! XD;

As a few others have mentioned, I look forward to sewing and improving my photography (new hobby??) with the dolls that I already have. :)

    10. I have finally brought my grail doll. As I thought of myself with my forever grail doll, I believed that I would be really happy and satisfied to be with her and I might stop collecting doll. But...It turned out to be me wanting another doll just almost right after I got my grail doll...It took only 1 week....So...it was volks limited version doll. I paid much more expensive premium price to get her. But I still want another doll. For me, it seems impossible to stop wanting more dolls even after I finally met my grail doll.

    11. There have been a few times I've been sick of the hunt, and I'm feeling that now, but the difference is that I'm mostly happy with my collection right now. I have some little critters on my wishlist, but my interest in big dolls has waned considerably. I've even got a couple of big dolls that I think I want to get rid of. I reserve my right to buy heads and tinies, though. ;)

    12. lol, I don't know if I would ever have a last doll. As long as companies keep producing new dolls, there is always a chance that they will make a doll that I will like/love.

    13. Yes, if it's my last doll I might as well go for my dream doll xD I don't want to have regrets afterwards. Right now I haven't really found one I'd call my dream doll though.

    14. It might be Dollshe Bermann... If i'll ever get him, xd. 'Cause he's beyond my wishes. I guess i'll just be so overwhelmed by getting him that won't be able to think of any other doll for quite a long time... But probably not for ever, so... There'll be more likely no last doll in my life.

    15. I've pretty much left the hobby already but was considering buying a "last" doll just to finish out my doll family. Each of my 5 current BJDs has a character and a attitude. But they really don't feel like a complete family without a Pet. So I was going to buy a resin cat or dog for them. I know the pets don't really count as "dolls" but I figured its worth a mention as my last purchase. I don't think I'd get a last humanoid BJD with exception of maybe a Volks SD16 body to replace the DD body for my Volks School B head.

    16. I want to say "final" doll but I know that will never be true since I am a freak and get tempted more than easily. Also Volks always have something up their sleeves

But I try to re-home some dolls when I want to get new ones

    17. I feel that my collection is "complete." I have all of my dream dolls. My last doll was a character I had planned, who I just got last week. Now, I will not pine over new dolls or create characters around a doll I don't own. I want to focus on playing with my dolls. I have an endless list of projects such as outfits and photoshoots. I have promised myself to wait until I have sold my other possessions/collections to even consider owning another doll. It's nice to appreciate the things I have and try not to focus on things I want. :)

    18. I didn't think I'd ever reach an end honestly, there were so many beautiful dolls I wanted, so many characters I still desired to shell but about a month ago I was looking at my collection and realised that I was just so happy with it, that I'd much rather spend time getting the dolls I have perfect rather than buying more with one exception. I am desperate to own a LLT Ludwig, I've been keeping a constant eye on his progression, I have a character he is perfect for in every way and have so many plans for him in my head, I've been waiting for him for so long and I've found that he's the only doll I still have a desperate desire for. So he's going to be my last doll, the crowning jewel in my collection (if he's ever released that is).

    19. I can't even fathom that right now, considering my first doll isn't even a month old yet. But I can see myself having 5 dolls in total. Not sure who or what size, but 5 just seems like a good amount to have. I probably won't stop at 5 though. I can see myself maybe slowing down from buying them around that mark, and then it'll become a case of buying a doll if I absolutely fall head over heels.
I know before my buying days end, I would like a limited Soom doll.

I think if you're planning on putting an end to buying more, getting your grail is a good way to finish everything off, if you haven't gotten it already.

    20. I thought I was done after the second, then I got the third. I thought I was done with my one girl, then I got an FCS. I thought I was done when I got my FCS, and yesterday I bought my only SD sized doll, until I find another I can not pass up. Nearly eight years into this hobby, with a year or two or three break from it I have come to realize I will never be able to actually say I am done because there will always be one more doll calling my name.
