Your last / final doll

Jun 7, 2013

    1. Most likely it will be a small artist shop that ends my collecting.

    2. Hrm, if I came to a point where I was going to get my 'last doll' for whatever reason, I would proabably want it to be an Enaibi Satyne or Airelle, or a Kinoko Juice Kiki- straight from the artist. I won't buy these dolls second-hand, most likely, because I'd prefer to support the artists...

But I don't know if I will ever come to that point- I almost always think I'm 'done' and then something new comes along. I've learned that there are new things all the time that I'm going to want, and trying to cut myself off can sometimes stress me out when another doll is released >.<'

    3. I feel like I'm at that point - but you can never be sure. But I'm not planning on getting more. So I sought out the ONE doll that I actually regretted selling and re-purchased her. I have sold soooooo many dolls, but there was one that I just couldn't get over. I was totally baffled that I even missed her. It seemed so unlike me. And she's limited. So the crowning jewel of the supposed end of my collection is my lati yellow tan tcob sunny :)

    4. i'm not sure about a final doll ... but as has been said, if it was the final doll i would want my grail doll. That would be a Volk F16 or Luts Woosoo

    5. My last doll ... is going to be my own. I'm finally sculpting my own bjd and absolutely love her. I'm hoping the limbs come out as good as the rest.
Decided I need to start making my own then I won't spend so much! Will post a photo soon.

    6. My doll collection will never be finished! I'm to the point where I have a comfortably large number of dolls (for me) and I've gotten almost everything I've truly wanted sculpt-wise, but there's always room for that one more. As of now, I think I basically have all my grails, so I'm not any more or less likely to shell out the extra bucks for a later purchase...I just spend a lot longer time thinking now if a doll is "right" for me.

    7. I think it depends. I'll get my last doll when I feel satisfied with my collection and run out of characters to shell. XD I'd love to say I have a limit, because I do have a list of dolls that once I get, I'm not sure where to go after, but... I know there will always be something out there to get me to buy another one, where it be an RP character or a book character or a fandom character I love. (I might be now considering buying Ahiru/Tutu and Rue/Kraehe from Princess Tutu... and this is only encouraged more because a friend jumped on and said 'I would buy Fakir' and now has a doll in mind for him. XD) I think if I ever reached a "last" doll, I'd be able to look at my collection and know it's complete. And that too would be an amazing feeling--but not one I see in the foreseeable future.

    8. I think I'm stopping at four dolls, currently at three. I keep my dolls and all their stuff at the top of my computer desk to limit myself and I think one more and it'll be as full as I can get it lol. I think my last doll with be an Alice themed Soom Rosette Fir.

    9. All of the dolls I currently have or currently on layaway are based on RPG characters I play/played. (Save for Valkia but if I could play her I would.) so I guess my point is when I stop playing RPGs then I may stop collecting dolls.

    10. I have RPG characters I would shell (I've been looking for my bard boy for forever with no luck) and literary characters. But I've got almost twenty dolls now. I finally sold a couple to re-shell their characters and I might do that again. I don't have a problem with the twenty doll line, but thirty might be pushing it for me. If I were to go out with a bang (and I could find the funds to do it!), I'd try to find Volks Ryoya Kanoe (doll only, don't need the full set or anything) or Alain, or a Limwha Mano Elf.

    11. Well, I'm pretty sure my final doll will be a Migidoll Jina boy. I'll feel like my collection will be complete when I have him. However, I've recently put a hold on collecting so that I can save money. My boyfriend and I are going to be buying a house. So, no new dolls for a long time. I just ordered the last two dolls to round out my current collection. One is a Pukifee Bonnie and the other is a Tiny Delf Alice. While, I'm sad that I won't be getting any new dolls anytime soon, I really love the ones I have. I plan on spoiling them. When I start collecting again, it'll be like getting the first all over.

    12. There are less and less dolls im falling in love with, so my want list has decreased. I think that in a couple of years, it looks like, i will be done with getting more.. It feels / sounds strange,
But the more dolls i get, the less time i spend with each, so once there are too many i notice tht i almost abandon some :(

    13. Yep, I've finally reached the point of no more dolls. I am finished, and boy does that feel good! GlukoZza has a great point, and I have noticed the same in me too. The more dolls I get, the less time I spend on any of them. I just don't look anymore and spend my time doing other activities. I won't sell the ones I have, I will just focus on them, and finish the long list of items on my To Do List.

    14. I think if I got to the point where I wanted a special "final doll" to end my collection, I would have to choose something very very special. I would probably pick something that I have wanted for a very long time but was unable to justify for one reason or another. I'm such a sucker for the concept of "collecting" though that I don't know if I will ever come to that point

More likely what will happen is that life will cause me to drift away from the hobby and my final doll will end up being just the last one I bought.

    15. I don't think I'll ever reach a point where I can conclusively say "this is my last doll" because I can never know what the future will hold. Right now, I can say that I won't be buying any more dolls until I get a new job, but if anything new and amazing is released, I will be adding it to my wishlist to try to find later. Even if I ever reach a point where I feel that I have all the characters I want for now, and focus on sewing clothes for them, tomorrow might bring new things. It is entirely possible (though unlikely) that a few years might go by without any new dolls being released that I feel that I want to have. While I do want to get dolls to shell all of my (many) OCs, I don't think I could go "this is all" once I finish finding all of my characters. There are sculpts with personality that just wouldn't fit in my story, but that I see, and appreciate, and love, and wouldn't mind eventually getting one, if there wasn't anything else I'd need the money for more.

    16. I had that "my last doll" feeling 4 years ago, when I quit the hobby because of life getting crazy.
I bought a LTF Leah fullset on a whim, but then didn't even have the time to enjoy her at all.
So now that I'm back, I do want to finish my ideal collection which still includes 1SD (Volks Cpt Cecile, grail doll of forever), 1 of the Soom minis (undecided which one yet, but I'm craving to have a hoofed one) and possibly one Anthro (Pipos Cheshire or similar...)
I think I'll only ever be able to be satisfied and have the "complete" feeling if I have those last dolls.

    17. I don't think that I'll have a last doll, seem to be endless.

    18. For most people, their last doll is when they get out of the hobby.

    19. Since I have collected for many, many years, I have come to that "last" doll point several times. I have gotten my "grail" dolls and felt, I had all I wanted. Then of course, I discovered a new artist or someone came up with something I just fell in love with. So as a collector, and lover of art, I do not think there will ever be a "last" doll, only periods of time where I feel complete for a while.

    20. I don't know if I could plan for a final doll, but I understand wanting to scale back on doll purchases to spend more time with the ones you have. I'd probably just have stop looking at dolls for sale one day, or at least take a break from doing so. There are so many diverse dolls and with new ones always coming out, I'm sure I could find ones to add to my wishlist if I looked for them.
