1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your preferred collection: Few dolls/lots of stuff, or many dolls/few things for them

Jan 24, 2015

    1. For me, it's many dolls with few stuff. I know changing outfits and such can be fun, but for characters whose style really does not change, I don't see the reason in them having more than one outfit, or more than one wig. My dolls mostly have pretty set in stone styles, so they don't have much.

    2. I'm in the more dolls, less stuff camp. A couple of my tinies have multiple outfits and wigs (I find stuff for tinies is a bit cheaper, and Etsy is a goldmine)- but my bigger kids (including the Littlefees) only have one outfit apiece. Most, if not all of my dolls represent original characters, so I have a specific look in mind for them when I go clothes hunting.

Unfortunately for me, that look tends to be on the expensive side. Once I find the right outfit, the doll will be wearing it for a while, to say the least. :sweat Eventually, I'd like to get everyone a second outfit- two of my boys in particular just won't settle for one -but it's not high on the priority list now.

    3. Definitely few dolls and more things for them, then you got more customisation options and you can concentrate on their characters and such :)

    4. I've promised myself that I won't buy any new dolls until all my current boys are finished, but I've broken that rule 3 times so far ;) I like to have a lot of clothes for my dolls even if they usually stick to one outfit each. I still need to buy wigs and eyes for some of my dolls, and hey everyone could always use more clothes! But I really do need to stop buying new dolls until everyone I have rn is finished.

    5. As of right now I prefer to have only a few dolls and more stuff for them. Overall there's a lot of dolls that I was drawn to but only a few that made me feel like I needed them :)

    6. Less dolls, more stuff. I have four dolls (with one more on order). There are a few other sculpts that I'm drawn to, but I'm not getting any of them until the newest doll has a decent wardrobe.

    7. So far, for me, it's more dolls, less stuff, though I'd like to get a little more stuff for them, as well. By which I mean clothing; once I find the "perfect" wig and eyes for a doll, I don't change them unless a need arises later on (for instance, I'm replacing a few older wigs that, due to my inexperience, don't fit quite right right, haven't aged well, or were bought to "fill a need" and a better one has appeared since).

However, I also want to focus in on actually making some stuff for them, clothing-wise. Many have very unique items that would have to be acquired either through commission, or through making it myself, so I'm opting to (rather slowly) work on the option that comes up a bit cheaper, and design the patterns and clothing myself. It's been a slow process, and not much has actually gotten done yet, but hopefully I can get some progress in the not-too-distant future.

    8. Right now when I'm still finding out what I want to do with my dolls, I'm definitely More stuff, less dolls.
But I hope when I figure out their characters and setting I can sell off the extra stuff to have just a few things for each doll. (Maybe more dolls, but that's in the distant future)

    9. I have a big collection of other dolls (Blythe) with too many clothes already, so for my BJD collection I tend to go for less dolls and put more thought into it... I am drawn to some girls which have a gorgeous fullset, so I tend to go for those and keep them in those outfits. Also for me, being used to smaller dolls, I don't see myself having a lot of larger girls.

    10. I would like to have a small collection (around 3 dolls max.) them having a few wigs /eyes & with lots of gorgeous clothes!!! :aheartbea
I adore cute dresses and love to spoil my BJD girls :p

    11. I thought about this for a while and I think I would prefer the second way (though I have no experience) Having a lot of dolls but not many things for them would give you the opportunity to collect and plan more items for them. While having few dolls would leave you looking at all the items you'd like with no dolls to give them to.

    12. I like the stuff! Clothes and shoes, really lots of shoes! But after a few years of collecting, I have a lot of dolls now too. "A lot" means something different to everyone though. I have about 23 dolls and that feels like "a lot" to me. I know I have a lot of clothes and shoes! I don't collect as many wigs and eyes as some people though, I generally settle on eyes and wig for a doll and rarely change them. I do change their clothing styles though, the fashion is really my favorite part!

    13. I would prefer to have few dolls and an lots of stuff... I would love to have an outfit for everyday of the month for all season of the year... plus sleep clothes... and stuff

    14. More dolls, less stuff. The majority of my dolls have a "look" and once I find that look, they really don't deviate from that. Occasionally I might buy another costume out of the blue but that's definitely not the norm for me.

    15. I'm thinking maybe 3-4 tinies, MAYBE 1-2 bigger dolls, and just spoil them rotten with outfits, wigs, and eyes. When you can sew and knit, it's even easier to grow their dolly wardrobes. ;P

    16. Less dolls, more stuff. I started out with SD only, but now have some tinies. I have more room for tinies, but I still prefer to keep my collection small.

    17. For me, it's few dolls and so many stuff ! Well, it's what I wish because right now, I don't have much stuff for my only doll >x< Sometimes, I'm just thinking about having one or two bodies for many heads too !

    18. I very much prefer to have a limited collection of dolls. And then just go all out with buying them clothes and accessories! Furniture and props too, of course.

    19. That is a good question, but I think we can't say what the future holds. Also our tastes and priorities change throughout time.

    20. Over a decade ago all I wanted was "one doll with lots of stuff". As time went on it became "lots of dolls with little stuff". Now it's balancing out to "lots of dolls and lots of stuff". I think my collection has reached maturity. I get a new doll every couple of years, but at this point in time I really just want more stuff!
