Your preferred collection: Few dolls/lots of stuff, or many dolls/few things for them

Jan 24, 2015

    1. Well, I guess I like relatively few dolls, but with lots of things. I have been in the hobby since 2007, I only have six dolls... but my first doll has something like 30 outfits, they all own multiple eyes, wigs, shoes, and clothes. I sew and I make doll clothes and jewelry for them. They also have furniture: beds, couches, chairs, armoires, chests of drawers, and a dining table set. I love dolly props so they have tea sets, wineglasses, beer and wine bottles, silverware, vases of flowers, lots of books, fake food, skillets, gardening tools, even a chainsaw!

    2. I would rather have a few dolls that I really love, and a ton of clothes and accessories for them. That takes up less room, and gives me the chance to spoil my dollies xD

    3. Currently I have no dolls, since I'm a noob. But thinking of it, I would love a small number of dolls (like 2 or 3) with plenty of doll stuff! plus it would probably be cheaper for a highschooler... and to me I feel it means you would love them more then if you had alot of dolls.

    4. I tend to acquire dolls slowly, I have been in the hobby since 2008, and still only have 7 dolls. I tend to collect a lot of doll props though, they have scads of furniture especially. My dolls have amazing amounts of stuff. I love doll props, I buy a lot of shoes, wigs, and eyes. Their clothes and jewelry I make. My first doll probably has two or three dozen outfits, the rest have rather less.

    5. I like to have lots of dolls, but the number of outfits and amount of stuff I have for them varies. There are some dolls, like my Minifee, that I change up constantly with different outfits & wigs (character-wise, these dolls tend to be performers or spies or something that would explain the frequent appearance changes!). But then I have other dolls, like my Littlefee elf & changeling crew, that have just one or two set outfits and don't get changed out very often.

Same is true with wigs. I have several dolls that have forever wigs that are never changed, and then I have others who change wigs practically every day (although most of the changeable wigs are all the same style for each doll).

Also, I am a shoe hoarder. I think I just transferred my human shoe obsession to my BJDs because it was (marginally) cheaper. :)

    6. As I only (well, I say only) have 7 bjd's on my wishlist right now which all have full profiles. Most definitely few dolls/lots of stuff. I think being surrounded by LOADS of dolls might, not creep me out but I don't know. Might be a bit too much for me to handle. I would love having lots of clothes to mix and match, eyes to swap out and change and different wigs to try on my future bjd's, instead of lots and lots of dolls (even though I could probably buy a lot more than on my wishlist if I had the money) :).

    7. I'm partial to focusing on one doll at a time - I don't like having several dolls around that are incomplete. I aim to finalize the look of each of my dolls before purchasing another doll e.g. buy an outfit, shoes, body stocking, wig etc. I like to make them look exactly how the character i've given them should appear. My preference is to spend money getting quality clothes, shoes, protective under garments before buying yet another doll. There's no point me buying more dolls if i'm not going to give much attention to the ones I already own. Of course later on I might decide to change the clothing one of my earlier dolls has, but I don't like having dolls around that are nude, blank and so forth. Hence I prefer to have a smaller collection looking their best but not necessarily with numerous accessories/outfits as they can't all be worn at once and thoses funds would be better spent elsewhere.

    8. Many dolls/few things for them.

Ever since I started in the hobby, each of my dolls has had one full outfit (clothes, wig, eyes, shoes, etc.), however there are times where I will mix & match, but that doesn't always work when most of my girls are on all different body types. The clothing & things that I like tend to be so expensive that it ends up being that difficult decision between buying an outfit or having a chunk towards another doll that I really want.

It's obvious which side of that argument normally wins... >.>

    9. I like my dolls to have a lot of clothes- I make them and buy them as well! I like to dress and redress them in different outfits.

    10. Oh well, i think i fit in many dolls/few clothes, as much as i want to buy them clothing i use the money to buy another doll instead, i already own 7, all of them have clothes and shoes but i should buy them more thought.

    11. Definitely very few dolls with lots of stuff for them. I love dolls but honestly i cant have more than like 6, because i like having a little group of dolls that are really complex and have lots of stuff for them. My dolls are supposed to be in the same storyline too anyways so it wouldnt make sense to just get a ton of dolls.

    12. I have lots of dolls and lots of stuff for them. There's a deep and long shelf running the length of the spare bedroom wall that is stacked with the boxes of their clothes (separated by size of doll they fit Lusion, SD, MSD, Slim-Mini, Small mini, Tinies, teenie-tinies) shoes, wigs etc.

It's come a long way from in the eleven years since I got got my first BJD and thought one would be all I'd get (and that poor lad is still waiting for me to finish making the outfits I started for him when he first arrived).

    15. It's, few dolls and all the things they need, for me. :kitty2 I prefer finished dolls to half naked. It would feel for me as if I did not enjoy doll, themselves, but enjoy only buying them:sweat

    16. I really don't the have room or the funds for a massive doll collection. I was thinking of finding separate heads that fit on my doll's body, that way it's like having a lot of dolls but in reality I only have 1. I may get a doll with peanut joints, I've been wanting luts' Ani since middle school. I don't like the super boobs on the luts' multi jointed body though.

    17. I'm all about having few dolls and a ton of stuff for them. Moreover, I try to stay in the same size ranges (at least for my girls) so they can share clothes and whatnot. Right now I've got three dolls, though only two are complete.

    18. It really depends. Both is good, when it does not come to extreme. I know few people, who hoard many dolls and then clothe them into sock-dress, give them cheapest wig and partially-damaged eyes, bought second hand for few dollars. I do not get this, in fact. They have ten dolls, but if they had, dunno, five, they should look really different.
When I buy doll, I try to give him/her all love he/she deserves and do not really spare expenses on the doll. When I decide, whether I can or cannot buy new doll, I always have to count not only with price of a body, but also all kind of accessories doll needs. But when doll is "complete," and I feel proud of how it looks, I usually start looking around, if ... maaaaybe I can buy new one :D I would never buy dolls just to have tons of them and then neglect every single one, because I better buy new one, than buy proper wigs for the ones I already have :D
