1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Your reasons for choosing your first doll?

Jun 21, 2011

    1. My first doll was Volks Elena. I stumbled across the Volks website via Wikipedia after seeing photos of bjds on Deviantart. Saw her - loved her - saved for her - bought her! At the time, I justified the price by telling myself she'd be the only one I'd ever have. :sweat

    2. For my first doll I chose a minifée since what a meeting my region !
The mould Shushu because I find it very feminine and in the lines very sweet :)!

    3. My first doll was kind of a mixture of good timing and coincidence really. I finally saved up enough for a BJD, found a fairly inexpensive and reputable company, and saw a sculpt I feel in love with. :D After a few more comparisons with other dolls over a few more weeks, I decided that yes I did want him and ordered him online.

    4. I purchased my real first doll on a whim. I had preordered two Dollzone MSD fullsets and I knew I had a long wait ahead of me, so I was surfing the marketplace for ideas and things to keep myself occupied. I found an adorable Orientdoll So Dong and I was immediately in love with her. I have a lot of dollhouses so the idea of a dollhouse-sized doll was amazing. I spent a lot of time working on my dollhouses and I was sold.

    5. My first doll just happened to stare out ot the screen and steal my heart - it's Kefri (the girl in my avi) I'd been vaguely looking around online at various doll sites and deviantart - and decided to go for it. Then I clicked on the makers site purely on a whim and there she was, gorgeous and with bunches (thankfully they sent the wig with her but nowadays she's had a total makeover on their site last I looked) and big eyes, and posing...so I ordered her and she took an Age to arrive. I've been very happy with her and gone on to buy more - but none come close to Kef - she's my girl!

    6. I kinda fell into BJDs. My daughter had seen them on deviantart and wanted a Volks Hisui for her birthday. She showed me the Volks site and explained a bit about BJDs. I surfed the site a bit on my own and found Mika.

      ...and found Mika.

      ...and found Mika.

Well, somehow my spouse got the idea I wanted Mika, so that Christmas she was under the tree. I didn't know who she was until she'd been home for a little while. Then I realised with that ivory blond wig she was Guenevere from a book I wrote when I was 15.

She's still Guen, and I think she always will be.

    7. My first BJD was originally going to be a BBB Apollo. I had everything set and was ready to purchase him when I noticed IOS was going to put their Chaos (who I had found a few months earlier and LOVED) back up for sale. It took me a while to justify the huge price difference, but I finally caved and ordered him. He's due to arrive in February!

    8. After falling for BJDs I searched the web for a long while in order to find a doll I really felt like spending so much money (true story XD)
I liked many of them, but never find the one I was searching for until a friend linked me Angelregion site: when I saw Dana's pretty face and started dreaming about buying him, I think my wallet was officially condemned! ù__u
It was like he was calling for me from the screen... it happened several times with my dolls: they are not always the most beautiful dolls on the site, but they should be interesting and tell a story to me!
When they tell me their names and bg it's really too late, so I put them on my wishlist and if they keep bothering me I'll buy them asap XD

    9. I searched many sellers, but none of them really called out to me. I knew I wanted a cute boy. I kept going back to Iple House because they have such lovely sculpts. Then looked at the JIDs and found Colin. God is he cute, but I knew he wasn't the one. When I looked at Daniel, I knew I needed him. FFFFF. <3

    10. Waited 10 years too get a doll*_*
Got my souldoll Clara, but the next one is going too be smaller

    11. I was looking for a cheap doll that I liked enough. I ended up saving 150$ and buying a bobobie because I found an elf eared pale one that I liked. I was so happy!

    12. It's really interesting seeing what's made people chose they way they have.
Just getting into the hobby, I'd of course looked around DoA for some time, looking at dolls through the different site links, and I came across Alice in Labyrinth, and it was like being smacked over the head with the big fat hammer of dolly love when i saw Ail's Daryl. She was absolutely perfect. The body was artistic and pretty realistic, I didn't mind the one piece torso at all. And her face was just... gawd, so cute and perfect. Those little pouty lips, and for some reason I seem to have a thing for girls with rather large looking noses. She was just so innocent and beautiful. It had to be her, there was no other doll at that point that could compare. So, into the shopping cart she went, and that was it. I still absolutely love her. Although now I really would like to do something about that one piece torso

    13. My first doll I actually pre-ordered in December so he's not here yet. His head, at least, I was going to Mintoncard to derp around as I often do and I saw Ice and Snow on the main page. Fell in love with Ice instantly. I had wanted him so I could turn him into a snow sprite, or my own version of Jack Frost, but now that I'm looking at him I wonder if I even want that. I don't regret him being my first, he's actually quite a big deal, but I can't wait to see what he'll become

    14. I've looked into BJDs for many years and became very interested in them after a friend of mine got her first doll. I've always been into "barbie" dolls, even as I got older. I've talked with owners and looked at dolls at conventions and I finally went to a doll party last year.

I'm currently waiting for my first doll to arrive. I chose her after seeing her in someone's flickr gallery ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/turbow/4200949770/in/photostream/ ) (Kid delf ani) I just thought she was absolutely beautiful! Even so I searched through many many dolls and never found another that captured my heart quite like her. I still have a list of dolls that I think are beautiful, but I'd look back to her and I'd swoon :fangirl:

But I don't like spending lots of money, especially on myself, so even though I decided on her and pretty much knew what accessories and wigs I wanted I just held off. The only thing that kind of bothered me was that she wasn't smiling, her mouth is kind of a frown, or neutral mouth. While pretty, I didn't want to order her then come across another doll that looked just like her but smiling. And I didn't want to buy another doll anytime soon after I would order her, and none of the separate Luts heads really jumped out at me. So again I waited.

THEN Luts had to go and have their winter event and release this beauty of a head http://www.eluts.com/shop/step1.php?number=6604 :aheartbea I was so excited! I knew my order would cover me getting her free and I thought she was just as beautiful as the Ani and she even had a little smile! So I got the courage and finally placed my order! I knew I 'd be upset to not get that event head!

So that's why I picked Ani and finally ordered her!

    15. I told myself I wanted a MSD, size range 48cm, I looked online for couple months and fall in love with a 70cm Dika doll~.....

    16. I searched for a doll that would fit and OC of mine. NowI'm saving for him. An Iplehouse Dexter...

    17. I was looking around internet. I wanted the couple Bee-a and Too from DOD, but when I saw Ruan, it was him. I loved his face, his nonchalant look, the fact that with the new body he was more tall and manly (and yet, he has this so feminine face) and he was just all I wanted. It take my 2 weeks to finally buy him, and I'm really happy.

    18. After 5 years of consideration... deciding that I shouldn't get my expensive grail doll as my 1st ever... I then made the completely unplanned decision to buy Simply Divine Thomas... He was Jonathan Rhys Meyers from Velvet Goldmine! So yeah completely a splurge buy despite all of the planning...

    19. Well my first doll was a Luts Shiwoo that I won in a raffle. For the first doll that I actually bought myself however I knew I wanted another Luts. Luts was the first brand I ever learned about and I spent years admiring all their dolls. I knew I wanted something smaller than the Shiwoo as well since he was always so difficult to work with due to his size. I started looking at the Kid Delfs and fell in love with the Kiwi sculpt and so that's what I bought.

    20. I didn't have a particular doll in mind, so I was browsing on sites and eventually decided to check ebay. I saw a doll in mind flowne for a pretty good price so I did some research and knew she was the one. I jumped on it as fast as I could! Love her!
