Your reasons for choosing your first doll?

Jun 21, 2011

1. Chaz Haha thank you! I just really like organizing things in tables, haha. I found that was really helpful so I didn't need to keep going back and forth between tabs on my browser while trying to decide. Turns out I ended up buying what was going to be my second doll first to take advantage of a promotion, but now I feel confident in both choices (even if I changed their order haha). I hope my method works for you too!

2. Well for me it was cause of my favorite anime character., louise francoise le blanc de la valliere. I just had to get her. I plan to get more anime related ones tho i also got inspired by the dolls people own here now as well :) got so many wishlisted but since they are quite expensive for me it will take a long while so it will probably be in 1-3 years until I buy a new one .
But yeah love for anime i'd say :)

3. I just recently decided on the sculpt my first bjd is going to be. For months I've lurked on sites and couldn't find a sculpt that matched my oc right. But when I saw Dreaming Doll's little elva airi, I knew she was absolutely perfect (not for my oc, just in general!) She doesn't match any of my criteria, I just fell in love with her :)

4. I had seen pictures of a pukipuki on the internet so I knew it had to be a Fairyland doll. I was very lucky to find to find one on an auction site soon after and had to have her :)

5. My first doll was completely unplanned. I had told myself I couldn't buy any of these wonderful dolls I had found, but just happened to run across impl doll's Charles and fell in love!

6. I disccvered this hobby December of 2013 while I was searching the web for pocket watches(I know it's weird how I discovered them that way). I saw youtube videos and I remember how newb I was I didn't know what they were talking about. It was about their doll family and they were introducing the dolls one by one with the name of th company. I forgot the sculpt that caught my attention but I think it's from Luts, an msd.

Now I'm more fascinated with SDs and has a body who is waiting for a head. It will be hard since it's my first doll which will be a hybrid but I just fallen out of love with the original head sculpt. I just love the body, it's a Ramcube by the way. The head will be an Esthy Peroth. I just fell in love with the sculpt and the faceup the seller did. I think it fit what I was looking for even though I' having second thoughts for what character his sculpt will fit in my story.

TLDR:
What is my reason for choosing him? Simply becauese I LOVE HIM!

7. I didn't have a more specific reason, I was just trying to look for something that I'd like, and instantly when I saw the pic, I just thought "Yup, that's it, that's my first doll". The body looked nice and everything in the doll pleased my eye, so there was no need to think it more.

8. My hobby was solely 1/6 figure. While searching for clothes for my Medicom RAH Saber, I stumbled on Akagi's Yusri head sculpt and fell in love with it.

Since Akagi only makes male body, I'm considering going hybrid. Resin matching is what preventing me to buy my first doll right now >_<

9. Getting your first doll is always a really tough decision, especially now with all the variety of beautiful sculpts available. I finally made my first doll decision yesterday, and was torn between a gently used Lillycat Lyse and ordering a new Doll Chateau Youth Stacy. There was another doll on the marketplace I debated with too (Irrealdoll Enyo Vanilla skin) that made it all the harder. I'm still scared I didn't make the right choice, but when I saw Lyse on the marketplace I had a plathora of ideas that were impossible to ignore.

What about you guys? Anyone else have a dilemma like mine or did you just "know"? (If so I totally envy you!) Please feel free to share! Photo spamming is also welcome! :aheartbea

10. I had a lot of sculpts I found good looking but there was one I just stumbled over again and again and the user photos were just so amazing, showing the doll in completely different styles that I just had to have it as my first!

11. I was intrested a loong time but then I saw minifee Liria and fell in love in the sculpt. That thing that made buy her was beacouse you could only buy her on a 10 days event. So I had to buy her or never get her. So she was a impulse buy but then if it wasen't for the event I would not buy a bjd. At least not for some time.

12. I guess mine was almost out of convenience. There was a local doll shop and they were selling a Volks Kun and I immediately fell in love with her. Got her then and there ^_^

13. Ideal beauty. An exquisite profile. A perfect mouth.

14. For me the first doll purchase was totally unexpected, I didn't even know about BJDs before that day. It was an emotional buy at the store, I saw the doll and just loved her :love She is still with me today, one of my most precious and favorited dolls.

15. I absolutely love looking at other peoples dolls and watching how their owners design then.. but I tend to be really picky with what I want to own. My first doll was a Doll Zone Wendy and I instantly fell in love. I love ocean themed things and she really strongly reminded me of these creatures called Zora in the legend of zelda games. I still adore her and also got her sister Dale recently.

16. I just ordered my first doll lol,

The story, dayum, i really had a hard time choosing it, the things i was looking for me was

1st.- Had to be a fullset, why, because i wouldn't have to search for clothes, wigs, make up, etc. i would receive a complete doll and later on i could be able to change it however i want, but in the mean time i wouldnt have to worry that my doll is missing something :c

2nd.- size, for me i really lovee the MSD size and well is not to big or too small, just goo, it can be mature looking and cute, depends on how you style him/her

3rd.- price, i wanted something good, so i new i would have to get alittle bit more of money, since i got to work i saved a plenty of money but i kinda wanted it to be nooot sooo expensiveee

and well and now, at first i wanted the carter fullset from dollzone but didnt liked the body much, then i looked a mystic kids but didnt convinced me, leekeworld had my eye to but in the end it didnt convinced me, them while i was looking at DDE and i saw doll chateau, and i really really love them, and i saw the one i kinda wanted to much, Alma, fullset and to be better in stock, and i got sooo exited but the price was a bit expensive, but after a while i said that it was fine and i got the money for her, but then thing that bothered me was that she wouldnt be so versatile with clothes like the normal msd clothes, i would have to specifically search for custom stuff for her, anyways and then after whole thinking i made a decision to get another less expensive doll, and then while looking at dollzone again, i looked him, i saw him before but now i was really looking at him, and idk, something click on me, i loved the body/style and had everything i was looking for, fullset, versatility with clothes, good price, and then i saw their 50usd voucher event at alice colections and i just had to have him, and now i already ordered him and i even took a while to buy him so i could make sure i was making the right decision and i feel like i did it and now i am waiting for my first bjd and i am so exiteeed :D! and happy with the decision i made ouo

sorry for the long writting! ono

17. I choose my first BJD primarily bc she was inexpensive and I liked her teeny size. I didn't particularly love her chubby cheeks or hands. BUT! When I got her home she had a lot more potential to her than I was expecting, so I'm pretty happy with her. I think the stock photo may have done her a bit of a disservice.
Initially I bought her as a small doll for my own daughter to play with as well, so small and inexpensive were the most important factors because I figured she'd want to take her everywhere, and if she was inexpensive I wouldn't be out a ton of cash if she hated her.

18. When I finally decided to start looking for a doll, I didn't really have anything particular in mind, so I simply browsed through several companies. I eventually compiled a list of criteria while looking through them. That helped me to narrow down the options. I settled on Iplehouse because of the realism of their sculpts. I narrowed it further to SD size, since I felt that the larger scale would facilitate sewing clothes (plus their mature sculpts were gorgeous). I continued to browse through their entire selection until I found Theo, almost like love at first sight lol. I waited a few months to be sure he was still "the one" before finalizing payment. It was meant to be :)

19. My first Doll my best friend gave him too me.She really understands so she knew how much I'd love him. So I didn't go through the tough choice of having to choose one ;-; I can only imagine how hard it was for most of you to have to pick one.

20. I didn't choose my first doll. I was looking for one and could not make up my mind so I let my sister decide. The first doll she picked out was an SD I wasn't ready for one so she then picked out the Minifee Rin Fullset.
