Your reasons for choosing your first doll?

Jun 21, 2011

    1. It was difficult to chose my first. A lot of dolls are gorgeous, but I chose Ringdoll because the Lucifer sculpt just takes my breath away every time I see him. Plus, as I browsed threads and stuff, I learned they pose well and RD is a good company to order from. I have my body on layaway now! Can't wait!

    2. I've wanted an RS Long for the past 8 years and I only got him very recently. I'm not sure why him. I just love his face and I love the SD size.

    3. After searching and saving for two years it was kind of surprising how much my final decision came down to impulse.. I really do love his sculpt though and he's a wonderful doll so I'm glad I picked him to be my first haha

    4. Ahh admittedly, I just picked the cheapest head I could find secondhand, an RS Lian, I wanted a head I could practice faceups on while I saved up for a full doll I really want. I've grown attached though so she has a body that I'll be pulling out of layaway on the 24th

    5. When I first saw these dolls, I thought I was being pranked. A friend in California had one that looked quite a bit like her. I asked her what they were called, looked them uponline. Many of them looked so much like me, so, of course, I looked into finding one very specific one that could be my little clone. And she has a bunny, too. The eLuts zuzu Delf Toya.

    6. Well, I'm here a while after choosing my first doll xD I wanted to have a certain OC as ny first doll, so I just looked through many different stores. As Luts was the one that had the first BJD I ever wanted, I looked on their MSD dolls and fell in love with three Kid Delfs. But I had to choose between them, so I actually just stared at one of my drawings of Gaia (the character I want my first doll to be) and Luts' photos at the same time and found out one of the dolls was really close to my idea xDDD

    7. I searched for weeks on every dolls site. I wanted a medium size, and everything was new so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Then I thought at the customs fees so I searched for a dealer. I also wanted a girl, because I really like all the clothes and accessory that girls have. She appeared out of nowhere and charmed me. After seeing her, no one else sparked my interest. Love at first sight, maybe?

    8. The reason I bought my doll-love silver goal was because he had seemed almost perfect for the character I wanted him to be, and since he came with a free face-up the deal was even better. So I bought him...and it was pretty impulsive even with the bit of research I put into him. P:He ended up not fitting into any of the characters I had planned in my head, especially not the one he was meant to be up close and personal (I was going for a british boy, and realized his eyes were to narrow for the role). In the end, he ended up creating his own character! :3nodding:

    9. The first doll I chose was a BeYours P.G. ~ she has really interesting aesthetics and I'm a sucker for those. I ended up shelling her as one of my favorite OCs. I already wanted the sculpt before the OC was even fully formed though, so it was a win-win situation in the end haha. I mostly go for the aesthetics, honestly~

    10. I first discovered BJD through Volks in 2003, I believe? I thought they were the best thing ever, so I started to follow a lot of doll blogs - but never thought about purchasing them myself because of how expensive they are. The original four sisters were my favorite, though I would time to time fall in love with other dolls. Fast forward 13 years later, when I was 2~3 years into "adulting" and had some disposable income, I stumbled upon SD Nana while browsing eBay. And I guess I thought, hey, why not? I have the money and I've been in love with this sculpt forever and ever, so I decided to take a dive. She should be arriving sometime next week and I'm super excited!

    11. The first doll head I got was an event head. Honestly it was an impulse buy and the event only lasted a few days so I grabbed on. But the first actual doll was because he was in my price range ~$160 and I always went back to that sculpt. I would look up pictures of him all the time and did a lot of research about it. I still love that doll.

    12. I have dreamed about BJD for years. But I did not dare to think about buying them before finishing University and getting a job. They are a big monetary and emotional investment, that I was not ready. And, although I Iiked BJD in general, I did not find my perfect one. :pout:Time went and I started to try to sculpt my own. In the begining of 2015 I started to follow Harucasting on tumblr. :D In spring they made their own sculpt Adori. It was a love from the first sight! That is more, they had a giveaway. And I was one of the lucky ones. So I won my first BJD. :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea Adori is so cute and perfect!

    13. I fall in love with the company's photos. . . ahahaha.

      Because I don't have one yet. ..
I would like a Spirit Doll(Rosemary) since they were the first dolls to make me fall in love with the hobby.

    14. I never had any doubts about who would be my first doll. It was love at first sight, as if the other dolls simply ceased to exist and existed only her. It was because of my Iplehouse Aria, including, that I started getting interested in BJDs. One day, I saw her picture on Pinterest and I thought no more of something else.

I think she has a very special beauty, very different.

    15. My first doll was perfect for me to chose for tons of reasons.
1, she was msd sized which is my favorite.
2, she had some giant eyes which was kinda what i was looking for.
3, She looked completely adorable blank.
4, shes double jointed, even on her hips.
5, she was cheap in the dolly world.

I guess thats not ton but my first doll just appealed to me more than any doll. Doll leaves is seriously underrated. 2 years later and im still getting new dolls, but i havent regretted my first one.

    16. I chose my first doll (Flora, who's still my only official bjd -sobs-) because I LOVED the look of Doll Chateau's faces, especially hers. And I adored her size. I love smaller dolls, since you can take them anywhere and just have them in your pocket with you. :XD:

    17. I always had a fondness for Doll Chateau and their creations, and over a few years I occasionally took a look at them. Once I actually got to see and touch a bjd in person and know that they aren't made of porcelain, I ordered Agatha, as MSD's are my favorite size in dolls. I'm not a patient person, however, so my actual first doll was doll chateau's carol. She was in stock at DDE, and I regretted not grabbing her before when I was considering making an order around the holidays.
I pretty much used up all of my fun money for a long time, but it was so worth it. :XD:

    18. I wanted to have a BJD for a long time, but I wanted to wait until I found one that I really really like.
I chose a Suzette, from La Compagnie des Radis, which is a limited edition, and ordered her on the very first day of the preorder, literally within three minutes after the preorder started :celebrate
I haven't received her yet but she should be home soon :D

    19. I'd been researching BJDs for close to two years and finally decided on a Ringdoll because I loved his styling (and I could afford the price).

But I still hesitated (all the typical reasons and fears you feel the first time you buy a BJD), until one random night I had an epiphany and just clicked on the buy button. So it was kind of an impulse purchase that wasn't really that impulsive? Haha that doesn't even make sense!

    20. I have had other dolls for years but never was really interested in the bjd ones. And then the size I wanted was around 12" and I never saw any mature ones in that size. I did love the thin DC bodies and had dreamed of having one, but the size just kept me from buying her. I'm not really sure how I picked the doll coming home soon, I guess I was just looking at some DC and saw her, fell for every photo I saw on Flickr and new she was the one. I didn't know anything about tan BJDs and the seams etc and found out more but just decided I would get her anyway! I ordered a MyDolling HeeAh in the Tan A skin and she should be home soon!
