Your thoughts on fur wigs?

Oct 1, 2013

    1. Nay. Sorry to say..I have nothing with fur wigs. It doesn't bother me if they are cheap or not,I just do not like them. I want long girly hair.

    2. I used to dislike fur wigs, but they've grown on me. I think a lot of the first fur wigs I saw were just sort of messy and always looked a bit disheveled. Since then, though, I've seen how well some collectors style theirs. I think there's also more variety in terms of fiber, length, and color available these days. So even though I've gotten some pretty raggedy and ill-fitting fur wigs over the years, I do have some dolls who wear fur exclusively and will continue to do so.

    3. I think fur wigs can sometimes look very beautiful in photographs, but in real life I have never truly been impressed by one. When I first began collecting I bought a few fur wigs, but over time I realized that no matter how I styled them they just wound up looking like big, furry hats and never like actual hair. So now I only put my dolls in fiber wigs, overall I find them much more realistic, prettier and easier to style.

    4. I have lpng fiber wigs. But I bought some mohair to make some some wigs for my Teenie Gem dolls, as too much hair can overwhelm them.

    5. I personally have both fur wigs and normal wigs. For the longest time I didn't much care for the fur wigs because I felt they were really cheap looking. But since buying them, I've grown pretty fond of how easy they are to manage. I like the softness in them and the fact that I feel like I can actually touch them and mess them up if I want to. With other wigs, I feel like sometimes they look too perfect. I'd be scared to screw up my doll's hair because that one strand might come loose and stick up. But over all, it's more of a "Who wears it better" contest on what wig I use.

    6. Depends on the quality and the doll. I've seen plenty of good fur wigs that looked realistic and also tons of really horrid ones.

    7. Depends. I like it with animal ears :3
When I have a fur wig in my hands I'm all like "awww that's sweeeet *^*" then "FEEEEEECK Y U NO STYLE FUR WIG Y^Y I'm breaking up with you".
Think I need to get myself a baby fork of sumthing.
I still prefer fiber wigs, even natural fibers or alpaca, because I like long wigs better and I don't like the way the ugly side of the fabric shows when you make the fur wig longer.

    8. some fur wigs i got for cheap are junk, but the more expensive mohair wigs are so great they bring joyful tears to my eyes. especailly the long and curly mohair wigs, since they are much softer than the fiber wigs and the curls looks lot more natural.

    9. Interesting...I really like the look of fur wigs and if I could....I'll have all my dolls wear fur wigs but their styling tends to be limited. Oh...and they shed like my cat sheds his fur.

    10. I'm honestly not a big fan of fur wigs. I know that there are some that look very good, but it's just not a style that appeals to me. I'd much rather spend the extra money on a fiber wig.

    11. I am not fan of fur wigs either but I have nothing against them. Some of them actually looks really good. But I still woudn´t buy one for my doll. I prefer long fiber wigs.

    12. I don't own any (yet) but they are so fun to play with and style into cute punk messy bedhead mayhem. Also they make the best mohawks.

Going to be making a pastel rainbow fur wig for my next doll. :3

    13. I LOVE LOVE LOVE fur wigs I have a fur wig for my boy and it is PERFECT boys with fur wigs look AMAZING. I think they add a little more realizm to the doll not a fan of the with the synthetic wigs look of feel they are way too shiny and have too many fly aways plus they look to perfectly cut which to me is a BIG turn off since the human body no matter how much u play around with it isn't perfect

    14. I have fur and fiber wigs and I like both, but I prefer fur. They're informal and fun, just like my dollies are.

    15. Most of the time, in company pictures, fur wigs look like a huge mess, so at first I didn't want anything to do with them, but a friend of mine has a couple of her dolls in fur wigs and they look waaaay better once they've been styled and brushed! It convinced me to buy one, and I haven't gotten it yet, but I can't wait ' w ' before that, I had two synthetic fiber wigs. I really love them both, but I can't really style them at all because they're pre-styled a certain way with no give to them.

    16. As many have said, I suspect that a big part of the dislike of fur wigs is seeing quite messy/badly styled ones around!
I didn't buy any at all for a long time for that reason, I didn't realise fur wigs could look good. Then I took a chance on them, because I personally think fur wigs work very well on a small-scale (I have 1/12 dolls that would look terrible with any kind of fiber wig). I felt it was going to have to be fur wig or no wig, in smaller scales.
Once they're gently brushed and carefully styled, I honestly like them better than any other wig I currently own!

    17. Fur wigs are something that I find I'm picky about depending on the character/size of the doll. Most of the time on say a 1/6 scale doll or anything around it I don't really like how fur wigs look on that size. That said, I have a doll chateau carol set to arrive soon and I can't see her in anything but a fur wig right now, just because she's more of an animal doll and it would fit better.

    18. I'm not a fan of fur wigs - mostly because I'm allergic to alpaca, as I recently learned the hard way. I hate the look and texture of fake fur wigs as well. Fiber or bust for me.

    19. Personally when I started this hobby I used to love fur wigs the most but somehow over the years I have "grown out" of loving the fur wigs as much. I do not like fur wigs, if they not styled really well, because they just look messy. But with nice styling then they can look really nice - but I would still prefer a non-fur wig.

    20. I don't have anything against fur wigs, even through most of mine are in fiber wigs. I have a couple of dolls that wear nothing but fur wigs, because the style works for them. I also really like that I can get a perfect custom fit with a fur wig that is rather harder to achieve with a wefted fiber wig--a bonus for dolls with odd or non-standard shaped heads. ^^;
