1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Mine's not technically a doll, although I keep thinking of it like one...'s a figurine made by an apparently now-defunct bjd company that sort of went with some of their dolls, which I badly want to go with a doll I am getting (not from that company) as well as badly wanting it for its own sake. ^^; I can't imagine it would be a price impossible for me to manage if one was for sale...but I also can't imagine there will ever be any for sale.

    2. Have you ever had one, or not?
      Yes, 2 in fact...

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
Nope XD Money is the root of all (dolly) problems.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
I believe I might spend more times with them and dote on them more but that doesn't mean I'd love the others any less. Actually... I've already bought outfits and wigs for him even though I haven't even bought him. -.-

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
I guess it'd depends on the individual. In my case, yes, cost is one of the factor for one of the doll, and for the other, limitedness is more of the problem.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
      No, I don't have them yet. T_T

    3. Have you ever had one, or not?
      SOOM Chrom
      SOOM Romantic Onyx (Light/Dark)

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
Chrom was my very first doll.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
He sits in a box more, because he still has the default faceups. I will eventually commission him a different one.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
Mine happen to be, but I wouldn't decide whether a doll could be a grail due to that.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
Only with the price. Everything else is perfection.

    4. Have you ever had one, or not?

Yes, Volks Nana (for me it's quite expensive)

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?

      Yes,

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?

No, once I have what I want I don't see it as a Grail doll ...

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?

No, it all depends on a person's tastes ...

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?

A bit after I found the handling a bit careless ...

    5. Have you ever had one, or not?
I guess you could say Soom MD Beryl was that for me
If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
It took me from '08 to mid 2010 to acquire each of her pieces but I finally have her!
Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
I'm scared to work on her because I want her to be perfect. I've been using my other dolls for face-up and blushing practice while Lilith (Beryl) sits in her box untouched and waiting for the day when I'll be good enough
Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
I think it's any doll that is hard to acquire and has been sought after for a long period of time... usually, those dolls are the expensive ones, but not always
Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
She is everything I dreamed she'd be! :)

    6. Hey~
wow, never thought I would have that problem.
I fell in love with a doll, that is sold out for a long time. Did that ever happen to you? Did you get that doll from marketplace, ebay or somewhere else? Is there a chance that companies would produce their dolls again?
I am really fascinated when it comes to Freezia Swan Lake Edition. Haaaa I would die for her :...(

Tell me about your "sold-out" storys and hopefully some Happy Endings ~ :D

    7. This happens all the time in this hobby of constant limited edition releases! I do have some sold out dolls I'd really love to have. I did get one second-hand from Dollyteria, a Volks Maki Tsuyoshi. The after market means you can usually eventually get what you want. :)

    8. Wanting Volks Liz is how I learned about limited dolls. I was totally crushed that I could not get her like THAT day from a web site :o I was just looking for a buy button..any BUY button.

Later I wanted a pasty pale but lovely Volks Masha. I thought it would be hopeless so I never even tried. I just stalked threads that featured her beautiful face. However, by that time I knew more about the hobby and really I should have just posted a WTB thread and taken steps to get her. Finally I did start that thread and very quickly someone contacted me and now I have my doll! I LOVE this doll and am so thankful to the person who sold her to me!

If you really want your pretty pretty doll I suggest you go ahead and post a WTB thread and see what happens. Best of luck to you!

    9. I've never really get crazy about a doll that has been sold-out until I saw Idealian Gluino !! I want him so bad, and he is LIMITED D: ...
I guess the only thing I could do is to look at MP or ebay..etc. things like that to search for second-hand...
I totally understand how you feel..>__<

    10. Oh my yes. I was crushed when I realized the girl I fell in love with was limited, but then I found the Marketplace. That's when I realized you should never give up hope. Posting a WTB thread led to the acquisition of my dream girl. :aheartbea

    11. Sold out doesn't mean "gone forever" it just makes it more of an adventure - more of an epic quest to achieve. I joined the hobby officially in 2007. The mold I was heads over heels for, that really made me go gaga was Luts/CP Delf Woosoo..who had been sold out for 2 YEARS before I even joined the hobby. It took..another 2 years, searching, patience, saving, and I'll admit it, some tears when I didn't or couldn't succeed, but I got myself a woosoo. And now I have 3. So never give up on those "sold out" beauties. Doesn't matter if there was 1, or 1001. It exists, someone owns it, and with a hobby like this, you will almost undoubtedly run into someone with the doll of your dreams. Just keep your eyes peeled- and there's a good chance you can find your dream doll for sale eventually.

    12. Have you ever had one, or not?
Yes. I got my first BJD some years ago but didn`t went through into the hobby.
Then I found Unidoll Jace last year. My first thought was "How can make someony a doll, that looks sooo ugly? his ears are soo big! He is a monkey!!!"
But then I realized, that he is very cute. I was very sad, that he was allready discontinued
(My other 2nd favourite doll is a DreamRealm Antonio. It was love at second sight too xD)
If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
Yes <3 Bought his head and his body from to different members of a german BJD Forum and paid less, than he original costs.
Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
Yes! I am very picky with his face up... he will get his third because the other two won`t fit for his character.
Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
No. They aren`t cheap but I think theyre price is fair.
Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
He looks great <3 but his body is very ugly for posings. I am spoiled. My first 70cm+ doll was DR Antonio and he has double joints while the Unireal Body has only single joints.

    13. Sold Out used to be worse years ago. Back then, releases were super-small and prices just sky-rocketed for most dolls on the secondary market.

      Now---I've never had a problem.
I bought two Soom Monthly Dolls after they sold out-- Euclase and Heliot. And I didn't pay huge mark-ups.

When I first got into BJDs, I rather liked Volk's Shiro Tachibana, but he had sold out the year before and whenever he came up for sale it was usually on Y!J --so it cost extra for a bidding service AND the prices were astronomical. But he was eventually re-released. And I ended up getting a One-Off version.

If a doll is popular, more will be ordered and eventually sold and chances are good to find them. Even a super-scarce doll--I've seen people find them, although they usually had to pay a fair amount over retail in the past... now, with the economy and so many other dolls being made and competing, prices are coming down.

Of course, you have to keep checking various places to see if your Sold Out Grail Doll comes up for sale... It's not easy and you have to, usually, have all the money to pay for it when you see it (some people do allow layaways, though).

I really don't worry about it any more. Although I do prefer to know when limiteds go on sale because some may not be so popular and therefore there will be fewer available later, which means a more difficult and longer search, usually. But even then, I've seen some very rare dolls go up for sale, and for decent prices, recently.

    14. Bluefairy Pocket fairy Kissing Jimmy . ..my first love.. too bad so sad no one sell her and no rerelease. I don't even find her owner photos :'( .

    15. wow, seems like a lot of you get their grail doll, even if it is sold out! ^^
      comgrats to you :)

That gives hope to me :) I start saving money now and make a thread in the market place when I have enough money :D

      Thanks for your stories :)

    16. Oh boy, I think everyone knows how it feels to decide on a doll and then find it was already sold out! I found out about Dive Seimei when he was already sold out, and after that I heard it wasn't really known how many heads were made, but most people guessed about 15. 15! But, as luck would have it, two years later I decided to really go and 'hunt' for him, a friend of mine send me a link of a sales thread of a Seimei for a very good price, and I got him! He's been with me for about three years now, I absolutely adore him <3 So, it's definitely possible to get the doll even after it has been sold out! Patience, saving, and letting as many of your doll friends know that you're looking for it! :D

    17. wow, only 15 heads were made! you were really lucky :)
congratulations that you got him!! :)

    18. Suigintou. Of course it'd be Suigintou, of all the sold out dolls to fall in love with. >_o I did eventually get her, but it wasn't a pleasant experience and it's not something I'd like to repeat.

    19. My first sold out crush was DOD Black Code 02 ^^;...I really want him, even until now.At that time I still didn't know what's the difference between limited and non-limited,I thought they are just always going to be there .So I took my own sweet time looking around.I was pretty new back that time, when I finally decided to buy-.-||...
There shows the "sold out" sign.-_____-||....
I didn't take note of the date. Then I was pretty disappointed and I'm still looking for one now,if he appears at the right time when my wallet is still thick XD.
The second time was for Crobi Baby Lance.
That was during the first sale period of the winter limited models.I was an hour late because I was dragged out to shop with my mom >.>"
I rushed home afterwards and opened the site to see that he's sold out T_T!!
Then some members here encouraged me to give a few more tries on refreshing :D! It's like a miracle!!He appeared to be back on sale after my 10th,or 12th refresh.I quickly paid for him^_^!
So, that's one happy and a sad incident XD....

    20. I've got a dream doll that was sold out right when I was able to buy my first doll a few years ago. a DoD DoI Kalix. I may never get him, but god he's beautiful, and I want one so bad I think I would sell my right arm and a kidney for one. He came in WS and GS and I want the GS with the original face-up, or as close a reproduction as I can get, and the full outfit and wig and everything. XD

Nope, not picky at all, right?

But oh he's sooooo pretty, all black/white/gray and then he had just... The BRIGHTEST blue eyes that just made him look incredible.... If I could ever find one and could afford him..... I think I would just cry when I opened him. Cry and hug him. But I'll likely never find one I can actually afford, so I frequently go to DoD's site just to look at him. XP If they EVER re-release him, I think I'd do something drastic to have him.
