I have had, and still have, many Grail dolls on my list.

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
I have managed to get 3 Grail dolls so far. My Luts Elf El, my KDF Jeong, and Souldoll Celestyn. Elf El was my Number one Grail doll for a looong time, and I was lucky enough to find one in the MP for a great price about a year ago KDF Jeong was one I loved on Luts, but was unable to buy her before Luts discontinued the mold. I was lucky enough to find one fora fantastic price this summer, though getting her was a pain >_>'' And my Souldoll Celestyn, one of the first dolls I ever fell in love with. I recently sold him though, because he was just sitting around getting dusty on my shelf...

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?I treated the Celestyn differently because he was such a rare mold, I was afraid to do anything with him. He was so lanky and hard to handle, I was terrifired I'd break him somehow... I even dreamt about it sometimes @__@''

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
Yes and no. A Grail doll can be any doll, but for me, they tend to be very expensive I've just been lucky so far and have found great deals on the ones I own.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
Since all all my Grail dolls are older molds, they all have really basic single jointed bodies. I was a little dissapointed in thei lack of posability but I still love them. I just get frustrated sometimes when they don't hold the poses I want xD

Yes, finally, it took me years. I never even saw one come up on any sort of marketplace or auction site. The day I did, I bought him, haha.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
Not at all. In fact, he's so manly and big, I hug on my cute slender boys more.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
My grail doll took a long effort to get as well as took time to save for. For me he was expensive, because I missed his limited sale in the first place.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
I have to say I had bad luck getting him together with mailing and seller drama and I was more stressed by that when I got him than excited to get him complete. I've warmed to him as time goes on.

Oh holy crap yes. I have several of them.

Yes. Two of them aren't home yet, but I'm working on getting them here soon!

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
Not really, I tend to play with all my dolls.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
I consider a grail doll any doll that I've had to work hard to get, or that I thought was unattainable due to finances or limited production. (I'm looking at you Suiseiseki, Beryl, Woosoo, Breakaway, and Cecil. One day I swear, man.)

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
The one I've brought home? Not at all. The others I'm working on I'm not sure, but I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Nope.


Do you treat it differently to your other dolls? I would treat him in the upmost care. I don't even think I could bring him outside or to meet ups.

Right now he is around 2000$ I see him in a shop, I actually have the money for him, but I cannot push myself to buy him. He's full set and everything. But I JUST CAN'T push the buy button. No matter how much I love the sculpt. I just can't.

My definition of a grail doll is one that you really love but is hard to get. A doll that is hard to find will be a rare or very popular doll and that will generally increase his price. So in that sense, I guess the price will be generally more expensive.

Not nessesarily, because it just depends. Your grail doll could have been a limited, or maybe you just don't have a lot of money so one that isn't expensive to one is for you.

I do. Technically they're 3 different dolls, but any one of them in my hands would make me super happy. Volks' Saber Dollfie Dreams.

If I ever did manage to get it I probably would, considering that she would be worth far far more than most other dolls.

No. Only the dolls that happen to be the ones you want most and thus quest for are grail dolls. Mine just so happen to be very very expensive.

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection? Yes! My Souldoll Hewer.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls? Yes, I have bonded with him more than the others and would never, ever consider selling him.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls? Not necessarily. For me it was the one I fell instantly in love with and couldn't live without. I bought him almost immediately.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it? Yes, I'm lucky enough to own it. I was initially a bit disappointed with him, because they sent the wrong eyes which gave him a different look. But I was won over within minutes!

It also matters how rare they are... which I suppose makes them expensive. But he was an MSD so it wasn't that expensive. Also, School Head A is very common, so I'd say it's pretty relative to the person.

- Had a few of them yes. First was a Dollshe Saint. I always loved that sculpt, and the thin body on the Dollshe men. Back then he had just gone out of sale, and was so hard to get on the marketplace... but when Dollshe started making dolls again, and Saint came up, I bought him immediately. My second grail was one of Volks BtssB girls. I had my eyes on Luna for a long time... until I won the lottery and could take Lieselotte home. Right now I have twin grain - Minifee Eliya twins with Angelheim hooves and horns. Its been my project ever since Eliya was released.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
- No not really. Though Lieselotte I feel is more... elite-ish so I dont change her clothes, eyes and wig, wanting to save up some money to buy the Btssb dresses on the marketplace for her, so she can keep wearing amazing dresses.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
- No not really, just harder to get/finish than the ordinary dolls.

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
- Nope, met my expectations and more both times. Hopefully the third time too, since its going to be a more elaborate project.

Yep, two of them. And I really don't need any more, unless I'm due for a serious lottery win... could be tough since I don't play.

Indeed, just one of them, and as it turned out he was the one that I thought I was never going to get (Volks Tsukasa Konoe).

Not really, no. He sits in my spare room with the others, looking pretty, and I can't say that I treat him any differently except that he doesn't wear the clothes that came with him, ever. It's a sort of "if I were to sell him, they'd need to go with him..." thing, though I'm pretty sure I'm never going to sell him. In fact, the one who gets the most money spent on him is probably the one I like least - I probably feel guilty. And the one I love the most isn't actually my Grail Doll but my Iple Luo.

As everyone else seems to be saying - nope, it's just whatever's unobtainable for any given person. If a dirt cheap first BJD is unobtainable and you want it with a passion, hey, Grail Doll, why not. Likewise, if it's unobtainable because it's ultra-limited, because it's uber-expensive, because your boyfriend would kill you if you buy another doll... Grail Doll! Mine are both mildly rare and too expensive for me to really be able to afford, and I feel really lucky to have managed to grab one of them. Thanks, granddad, for the random cash!

Have you managed to buy your Grail doll, but then been disappointed in some way with it?
Only in the way that he really desperately needs a new faceup - I suck at them myself, and I can't afford to send him away to have one done. But otherwise, he's perfect and I don't regret buying him for a second.

I have. DollLove Brian struck me immediately as a doll that I simply had to have. Admittedly, it might have been because he, in the photos, looked similar to a character of mine.

Yup! I actually bought him very shortly after buying my first resin doll. He arrived just in time for my birthday. ^_^

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?
Sort of. I treat him with more reverence.

Oh, certainly not. A Grail doll to me is one that someone falls in love with, and simply must have.

Actually, yes. Hayato was meant to be Adrian, you see, but he just... doesn't fit the character. His face in person is very different. Also, he doesn't pose as well as I would like. He stands wonderfully, but other than that... maybe he needs to be restrung. I don't know. Maybe it's that he's bigger than Jonathas (and the incoming Bobobie), but he just hasn't bonded with me like I would have hoped.

Pending the arrival of my Bobobie, and thus the ability to judge just how much I love PukiFee size, my new Grail doll will be Pipos Robin.

A Dollshe Saint/Soom MD hooves faun hybrid I would love to have the original SA Saint.

I have Chalco hooves on the way! I'll probably end up buying the new Saint head as I want to mod the ears and I would feel bad modding the original head

I treat all my dolls with love and care, so probably not.
Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls?
Not necassarily, but I don't really consider it a 'grail' doll unless its in some way difficult to obtain - either having to collect parts, try hard to save the money, scour the marketplace for something ultra limited... if its just a doll within your budget still available from the company then... its not really a 'grail' doll, just a wish list doll really...

Kinda? When I first saw the minifee Karsh, I thought he was limited edition (it was marked as sold out on the fairyland page) and I couldn't find any in the marketplace. So he kind of settled in my mind as a grail doll, since he seemed rare.

However, later on I was looking through DDE for fun and discovered I could order Karsh "A La Carte." This surprised me, and I went back and looked more closely at the fairyland site. So I learned that day that when fullset dolls on fairyland are sold out, you can still order the doll itself A la Carte!

Go me for being a newbie to dolls, and being confused by Fairyland's website

I did indeed order him on layaway as soon as I had the funds! He's not here yet, but I'm hoping he'll be shipped soon

When he gets here, I doubt it. I only have one other doll, so I'll definitely have the time to pay attention to both of them.

Sort of. I consider "unobtainable" or "really hard to get" dolls to be grail dolls. I halfway consider a SOOM Sphaler to be a grail doll for me, but he's readily available on the marketplace (I'm just poor atm), so I don't immediately label him as a grail doll just because I can get him if I had the money.

N/A. I'm pretty sure I'll love my Karsh I just need to find clothes for him that I like...

Two, actually. When I first joined the hobby I lusted after IP Akando and MNF Shiwoo.

If you have, have you finally managed to have it in your collection?
The Akando, yes. I didn't want the IP body, but his face is perfect for my character. After two years of searching and waiting, I finally found a head at a time when I had the money to buy it. It was a sleeping head, but by then I was a master at eye-opennings! I bought him on the marketplace.

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls?No, except that he goes through more wigs in search of the perfect color and style. I think I've lavished more attention on his hair -- which is supposed to be curly and dark red -- than any other doll I own!

No... Mine certainly aren't. Mine aren't even hard to come by! Grail dolls to me are the ones you lust after that, for whatever reason, are just beyond reach. The endless searching and hoping... what's a 'grail doll' without a quest?

My Akando is perfect. He's perfect for my character, which is unusual since most my character dolls have needed to be modded in some way to make them look right. All I had to do was open his eyes. I love him; he's everything I always dreamed he'd be!

Do you treat it differently to your other dolls? Not really, except perhaps slightly more protective against damages.

Do you only consider the very expensive dolls as Grail dolls? No, I think Grail dolls are about rarity, and not all rare dolls are very expensive. Generally they are, sure, but not all are high in demand and can still be very difficult to obtain.

Heck no A tan dollzone fox is my 2nd doll and I have seen them for 150.00

I just Hate his legs sometimes he has joint you have to pull a bit to get his knee's to bend and he does not like standing for long.
