It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. You've got ALL the dolls you want-- What Next???

May 4, 2011

    1. It's going to be a really long while before I've got all the dolls I want; however I AM going into a mini break from buying (I've gotten all the limited heads I missed and needed to get and basics can wait for me for a bit unless something gets discontinued) new dolls fairly soon and focusing on getting bodies for all the floaters home (because it bugs me to no end that they don't all have bodies) and will then focus on buying new wigs, shoes and clothes for the ones that need them and a couple pairs of silicone eyes that I have been putting off forever and a day now!

So... I believe when I get to the point I've gotten all the dolls I'll be always working on pampering them and improving them in every way that I can. :)

    2. No way will I ever shell all of my character dolls! I'm always coming up with new characters. Especially now that I have a collaborative universe going on... there's always another character I could get, lol.

But I'd be very happy if some day, I can have both a Soom Arkose AND an Iplehouse Arvid...

    3. I think I'm now at the point where I have gotten all the dolls I want. It's been a while since my last BJD purchase--about a year or so, and though I've been tempted by a couple recently, I took a long hard look at my current dollies and I can honestly say that I am happy with what I have. Although I have been in a funk lately and not in a doll-hobby mindset, I think eventually when I get back into the swing of things, I'll want to sew clothes for them. :)

    4. Buy clothes, props for them and accessorize.

    5. I will never be done with this hobby.

Even if I ever get all the dolls I want, new ones are constantly coming out and tend to worm their way onto my wishlist! And even if I somehow (never!) manage to get all of those, I will continue to relish the ones I have. Buying new outfits for, playing with, or most of all simply enjoying my dolls won't ever become blasé.

    6. My wishlist started with me jotting down every doll that appealed to me. However, over time, a lot of the sculpts I originally liked (at first glance) fell off of my wishlist because I just didn't find them to be appealing anymore.

My immediate wishlist is down to six dolls. (I already have three.)

And once I have them all, there's still lots to do for them... Making them clothing, painting them, photographing them, taking them to meet-ups, writing stories, using them as models when I draw, and that's just the tip of the hobby!

Really, when you think about it, it never ends unless you want it to. :)

    7. A house for dolls needs more than bedrooms and a living area -- so that is what I will be doing.

    8. I think I've told myself at least 4 times that I was finished buying dolls, but of course, something new and awesome always manages to pop up and steal my heart. During those times of being under the pretext that I was done, I dressed my dolls how I wanted them, bought them props and furniture, made them things. Actually, I'm in that situation now, of being 'done', and I have been busy with making my last*** incoming doll clothing and props. When he's all finished, I'll do what I always do afterward, and just admire and play with my dolls, or use them for drawing. I collect other dolls too though, so when the big kids are done being spoiled, I give the Barbies and Tylers some much needed love! I never tire of this hobby, there's always something to do.

    9. I'm only planning to get three dolls, but what I want to do for them is an ever-growing list. I want to learn how to make stellar clothes for them, shoes, quality miniature props, good furniture, and even a scaled doll house. I'd imagine my involvement in the hobby won't be over by a long shot.

    10. I wouldn't try to find another hobby. I'll start focusing on my dolls and get them more and more stuff. Rooms, furniture and clothes. There's no end to this. But I'm sure I'll eventually have my eyes on a new doll after a while.

    11. If I ever feel like I'm done buying dolls then I'll spoil however many I have, photos, clothes etc. I don't think I'll ever be truly done with this hobby even after I'm done getting new dolls.

    12. Do you swap them all out for something else?
Nope, I am never bored by 'complete' collections!

Do you go on to another hobby?
I already have multiple hobbies, so I wouldn't see taking up a new one as 'going on' to it.

Do you just keep buying dolls?
If continuing to buy dolls is an option, I haven't got all the dolls I want yet!

Do you start focusing on other things for you dolls, like making rooms for them or making more elaborate photo stories or ???
This would probably be how my collection would evolve if I collected all the sculpts I like and my favourite company stopped making new dolls. I'd have more money to spend on outfits, wigs, eyes and props.

Do you start up a company of your own to make dolls or parts for dolls or clothes, wigs, etc.?
I'm already in the process of doing this, so it won't really be an option if I ever stop collecting new dolls myself.

    13. I am happy with who I have now and there are currently no other dolls on my wishlist. I just want to concentrate now on getting the cloths and accessories as well as any mods to finish my characters. I know there are many OCs I will never shell, I'm happy with who I have. I also want to get better and more into the photography side of things:)

    14. I'm pleased with the dolls I've got. What I'll most likely do is enjoy my dolls, but keep an eye open for innovations in the field. For example, Doll Chateau Christina absolutely amazes me ... I think those extra joints are awesome. I'm curious to see what Dollshe brings out next. Also, I want to see how Dollmore refines the Trinity line.

There are always more pretty faces, and bigger dolls, but I am confident I can pass. I want to see what the Next Big Thing will be, aesthetically and technically, and save my pennies until utterly compelled.

    15. I just keep buying dolls.

Sometimes this worries me. Will i one day be a daft old lady owning a million dolls?

    16. Next up is to create the living space for my dolls. I'd really like to collect artifacts that flesh out their personalities and have official shelving (their apartment) for them. I think there a lot of pretty dolls that I will always considering buying. I think continuing to refine and develop their characters through style and accessories is how I can enjoy this hobby for a long time.

    17. I don't think you will ever be done with dollies. I thought I was done, I thought wrong!

    18. My thoughts exactly. The list of dolls I might possibly want to own has been getting shorter as I figure out my tastes, but I'm still constantly fascinated by the face-ups, mods, clothes, and myriad other creative endeavors associated with this hobby. I have always viewed bjds as the perfect medium for incorporating other handcrafts, so I see myself constantly evolving in this hobby, even if I stop buying dolls.

Though I think there'll always be new bjds that'll capture my eye; I hope that there will always be innovative companies working on new and interesting bjds.

    19. "You've got ALL the dolls you want-- What Next???"

Did it really happened to anyone ...? When you just had enough ? I love pretty things , and dolls are just the perfect fix for my need of cuteness and prettiness :) . I seriously do not think I will ever be able to stop collecting ... we shell see ;)

    20. When you have all your dolls... what do you think you'll do then?
I currently have all the dolls I plan on buying for quite a few years. They take up lots of room as it is and I want some time with my existing collection to really experiment with photography and the likes and expand upon them as characters. They're not all complete physically and I just couldn't justify buying new dolls when I'm not happy with the 'completeness' of my current ones (which is purely a matter of personally taste of course).

Do we always need something else to BUY --or something NEW--to keep up our interest? Or can be be happy with what we have and... do what???
No, I don't think you necessarily need to be buying new things to be involved in the hobby. Photography and displaying dolls in different poses and outfits can be done at any stage in their development and I find a great deal of enjoyment in just having them sit on my desk whilst I work, writing stories involving the characters or even 'playing' with them (posing them around the house etc). I've come to the point where I'm satisfied with just owning the dolls I have currently although naturally its a shame that there's so much variety out there and near impossible to own all the dolls that exist or that I'd be interested in.

Or is getting all your perfect dolls an impossible goal? Has this ever happened to anyone? --if so, what happened after that?
I'm happy with the dolls that I did get. I don't have all the ones that were on my wishlist but I do have all the ones that mattered the most to me in one way or another. I've found that the perfect looking, widely coveted dolls I wanted seem less important to me now than the often underrated or less popular dolls I actually do own, that have more personal significance to me (my Resinsoul was bought after a large trauma for example and I don't regret buying him instead of a Soom I was eyeing a few years ago.)

Do you have plans for what to do when you've got all the dolls you want?
Yep! I'll expand upon their outfit choices and get their face-ups just right, take lots of photographs, write lots about them and continue to enjoy them as a mix of toys and art. I'll still be active at DOA and help out new hobbyists and the like, keep up to date with the ways companies evolve and attend meet-ups. :)
