1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

You've got ALL the dolls you want-- What Next???

May 4, 2011

    1. I'm basically happy with the dolls I have but I want a slim mini boy to go with my girls. I really can't afford more dolls nor do I have the space to properly display them. I like to set up little scenes with the dolls in them for display so maybe I'll work on those more. Also I must start sewing more as I'm clearing out many of the clothes I currently have. My tastes have changed drastically since I first started with these dolls.

So my collection is complete except for one doll. I've been collecting BJDs since 2006 so I think it may be time to stop buying dolls & concentrate on sewing, photographing & other doll related things. I did stop buying for the last two years but recently started back up with some slim mini girls. One other thing... Avoid the Marketplace, which is going to be hard.

    2. Has anyone actually ever gotten to the point where they ran out of doll stuff to do?

      I doubt it :P

But I suppose over a long time I may not be as enthusiastic about my dolls and could just have them in a nice display case

    3. I've never gotten near or even considered having all the dolls I want and needing something else to focus on. It seems like an impossible dream! I supposed if I did run out of dolls to get, work on etc.. I would focus on new outfits for everone! I love buying new clothes and change outfits all the time so the more clothing the better! After that I might work on faceups and making more doll clothing to sell/commission.

    4. If all my wish dolls and characters (number limited) were full filled, I would stop to buy or find new dolls. :) I may change to focus on designing/making clothes instead. Not for commission or company but just for my hobby interest. That must be cool and suits me!

    5. That'S an interestin question posed. What do next?
Eventually, as all of my hobbies before this, It will fade as I grow into another person, and perhaps come back some time later.
I'm about one head and one dragon away of finishing my collection. None of my dolls will go anywhere anytime soon, since one house rule is: whomever comes in, stays.
But my character are WIP. And even if I don't buy any more dolls, I will hunt down accesoires and clothes, make wigs and sew outfits, perfect looks and do faceups and take pictures, over and over again, until I'm out of the hobby. After that, who knows what I'll do^^

    6. Very tough question to answer. I guess once I have caught up on all the dolls I want (i.e. gotten all the limited dolls I want that I missed out on) I would still keep an eye out for future events if there is a dolls I am interested in, there will always be new dolls being released and new moulds coming out so I don't think I can say I will stop buying dolls. What I will most likely do though is start to focus more on the dolls I do have during the year in between events. I would start building them a more extensive wardrobe and building them each their own separate diorama or their doll house depending on my own building skills and amount of dolls I have by that time. I would slowly start to also up grade my dolls' wardrobes once they have all the essentials (i.e. dollheart clothing for my tiny delf). I want to learn to do my own sewing and face-ups so maybe I would look into creating my own etsy shop or offering a face-up service if I am good enough.

    7. Once I have all the dolls I want... some company will release another one I want. It never ends. :XD:

    8. I think I would just spend my time making props, sets, clothes and accessories to my hearts content :)

    9. Due to my budget, kids, space etc etc I'll probably only be able to handle 10-11 dolls at most since I only seem to be in love with SD dolls. Maybe a miracle will occur and I'll have a bigger house but I'm such a planner I'd hate to downsize and not be able to handle what I have and put my dolls in storage.

By 2015 I may only be able to get 3-4 more and I am fine with that. Once my collection is complete I'll pretty much move on to purchasing more outfits for them or furniture - things like that. If my budget takes a nose dive I may not be able to even get another doll after 2015 - and I'll live with that too.

One day one of my boys might like my dolls (or not) and maybe I'll give them on of mine to start their collection and I'll be able to get newer ones.

I'm so careful now with my collection. When I first started I sort of randomly purchased dolls because I didn't really know what I wanted and now that I'm more aware I'm trying to fill those slots with dolls I really want.

    10. I currently have all the dolls I want, well in part. Next year I'll find bodies for three floating heads I just HAD to have.
Once I have their bodies my plan is to buy a camera and a sewing machine.

After that I'd like to spend more time on each of my girls wardrobes, and purchase the wigs I'd really love for them. They also don't have back stories, although they do have their own personalities, so I may work on that.

    11. I don't think that I'll ever get to the stage where I can say that my collection is finished. I did stop buying for a while (personal circumstances) but I missed my dolls and have now resumed my collection. When I see a doll that I really like I will try to get it, I do try to be more discerning now though - try!

    12. I think I will be able to stop, and keep taking care of them making new stories and changing their clothes. But if I end up seeing a new doll I like I will buy adding it to the family. But in my case I'm very very very picky about my dolls....I usually end up buying the same doll over and over in different colors because its hard for me to pick a doll I really truly love.

    13. Yes! That always has to happen.

    14. Is it possible to have all the dolls you want? It's easier to part with furniture you don't need!

    15. I think I won't be able to stop buying them.
They're so defferent, so interesting. It's always fun to see their transformation from one person to another, with different character...
So, I'm not going to stop buying dolls. =)

    16. I have photo stories to do ad infinitum... and there's always cosplay that must get done & new outfits cause, you know, awesome.

    17. It might be kind of nice to get to a point where I could easily choose not to buy another doll. I could focus on their wardrobes, getting their looks just right, eyes, wig, shoes, accessories, props, furniture, taking pictures, etc. Pretty much everything I do now, but without the delicate balance of new doll vs doll stuff. But I think there will always be a doll on the wish list.

    18. I think I finally have all the dolls I want from those currently available, so now it all depends on what new characters my favourite companies come out with - if I'm tempted or not. Mostly I find I'm not. So now it's time to finally make all those special outfits for my newest dolls which still need something.

    19. wow, the idea of having all the dolls you have ever wanted, and the way you want them.... i can hardly imagine. I am completely new to BJDs, but am quite besotted, so for me it will be quite a while before i achieve this. But one of the things i am particularly looking forward to is all the sewing and making of accessories and clothes.... and you can never have too many accessories and clothes!!!

ps - this is my first ever post!!!

    20. I'm at a point where my wishlist has been finalized and to finish my collection I only want 2 more of the currently existing dolls.
Those 2 are planned to be purchased in the next year (depending on the pre-order period for one and the money savings for the other). I think after that point I will finally be able to concentrate on clothes, accessories, learning to sew better and take better photos etc.
I am really looking forward to finishing the base of my collection actually. In total there will be 8 and it is a number I'm comfortable with.
My absolute maximum would be 10, and then again, just to give myself those 2 extra spot in case something pops up that I really really want (like another SD boy to go with my current planned herd of girls...XD) or in case I decided to splurge on an extra Realpuki or something...
But I'm definitely looking forward to be able to direct money towards sewing and clothes shopping for them.
