1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

You've got ALL the dolls you want-- What Next???

May 4, 2011

    1. I don't think in this hobby you can hit a doll plateau...how could you? With all the future releases from all the different doll companies, you are bound to like something at some given time. Now you may run out of money or space like I have, LOL, but I am sure you will find ways around that. ;) I left the hobby for several years, but thought about it always and came back full force a couple of years ago. I dont think I will ever tire of it. I may tire of some dolls or outfits and sell them off, but I will replace them for sure. I think this forum really helps too. It stimulates me creatively every day!

    2. I sometimes think I've got all the dolls I want.......I'm at the point of not really wanting any more! Okay, maybe one more Dollmore Lusion Dahlia...lol... then I think I'd be 'done'

The 'What Next' bit is what I am enjoying right now, I'm slowly working through my crew giving them new face-up's and mods etc. I find this part of owning dolls the most enjoyable, I simply love breathing 'new life' into them :fangirl:

So, yeah, I guess I've nearly reached that point of 'all the dolls you want'....but, I'll never give up this 'hobby'....I've had dolls all of my life, they are part of who I am....I can't imagine being without a doll...:D

      xen :)

    3. I can see myself reaching this point eventually. I'm the sort to spend more on things for my dolls than getting new dolls, they're rather spoilt, and I simply don't have room for dozens of dolls. That said, if Volks keeps releasing adorable WS LEs I may be doomed...

What would I do in that instance? Simply appreciate my little family. Write stories, take photos, sew them new outfits. I think there are lots of ways to enjoy this hobby without constant online shopping.

    4. I'm not a collector type, rather a creative one, so I concentrate more on a company of characters than on the dolls themselves. So I've got all the dolls I wanted - there was not many, actually, even more - one of my dolls is excess to some degree))
Well, what now? I'm making a doll that could never be released by someone else, due to the inhuman anatomy))

    5. When I came to the bjd hobby, I thought that I'd have the only doll:lol:but then I liked one more, and one more, and another XD I wouldn't say that I want to have every doll I like in promo and of course I don't buy all of them)) now I have a certain plan about the characters I want to have and I follow it) and then... all the modes should be perfect, right?:wiggle

    6. Is it possible to complete it all????

    7. I haven't come to the point where I have all dolls I want (actually, I'm thinking about another storyline, 'cause I keep finding dolls I love that don't fit with my current crew @_@). But I do know that when I'm done with collecting, I'll still continue to make my own dolls and I have this wish to build 'movie'sets for them. Right now I don't have the space to store those settings, but in the foreseeable future I have... and actually, I can't wait.

I'm not in this hobby just for buying dolls. My main goal is to make stuff.

    8. I'd say I'm 95% done with new dolls. That leaves room for something new that may pop up that I may go 'OMG HAVE TO HAVE' in the future, but right now... I'd rather focus on wigs, outfits, shoes for the ones I do have than adding a bunch of new, shoeless baldies. Plus, at some point, I just reach enough that I can't enjoy them all, and the idea of adding anyone just gets kinda 'myeh.'

I still have some dolls on my 'want' list, technically, but I'm not actively saving up for them or planning for them. It's like a "Will buy if cash magically falls on me' list.

    9. I started in this hobby in 2005 and, unless from now on new main members join in the original story (One Piece manga and anime series) most of the characters my BJD are, my resin crew is already complete since 2009. It does not mean it is over for me at all. What is next then? Working on features of many of them and creating a two years later version of many of them as well, like it happened in their original storyline. Extra heads and some extra bodies I have for them will be very helpful for that. Besides the fact the task of taking care of them never stops... After that, will it all be done in my case? Not either. In my opinion it will be probably the time when I will enjoy them and the hobby the most, being free to develop my skills in ways of playing with them (Writing, taking photos even if they mean a long travel, planning clothes or scene sets,... And a huge so on) whenever I want. From my point of view having them all is not the ending, it is just the next chapter in my living of this hobby.

    10. I never intended to form as "collection" so whether it is complete or not is moot. I have purchased dolls that appeal to me, and when my tastes change, I've resold a few. I have all the dolls that I have space for, that for me is the deciding factor. Right now I'm drooling over a SD in the marketplace but just don't have enough room, and I don't want to sell any that I have, so I must be content with drooling ... messy!

    11. after i got the one i wanted, im thinking about buying another one. i feel i can not have enough of them and that i need more than just one doll

    12. Eternal bliss.

    13. For me, it's adding rooms and sets for photostories as well as adding to wardrobes for my existing dolls. ^^

    14. I'm not really in the hobby as a collector. I have another one possibly two that I want and that will probably be it. My main goal from the beginning was to have "living" artwork. I'll probably try my hand at making clothes and props, and they probably will help out in giving me writing ideas, but mostly they are there for me to pose and re-pose as the whim strikes me.

    15. If I got ALL the dolls I want?
Well, it will take a long, loooong time for that to happen. XD

I only have two BJDs and my wishlist is a little big. So I guess I will have a couple of years to think about it...

    16. Oh man, that would be awesome <3 I'd work on spoiling them with some nice/expensive outfits and make sure they had some proper furniture/props. I love being able to spoil my dolls. If I had all my dream dolls I'd also make sure they got all their customizations done. Face-ups, scars, peircings, etc. And their perfect wig/eyes. I don't mind extras but most of my dolls get one default look that I tend to love/keep.

    17. I think it would be impossible for me to have all the dolls I want. They are all so expensive. But if I ever did, I'd want to keep getting things for them, doing new things with them, and watching out for new dolls I want. Finishing the collection would be the first step, not the last.

    18. I`m techinically almost Complete - if I just forgot about Masha, whose mold is basically the same as my Sasha minus the skintone, and forget making triplets out of my MSD20, stop collecting every other Remi Colin I see. Since my collection leans toward realistic-molds, all the ones I have now that fit the description will probably not be sold.

Will the buying ever end? I`d say no, There`s still dolls that get released every year that I really want. This year, the GrAlice got released, and guess who needs the new girl? Me. Unless companies all shut down and there`s no more I can buy, I really don`t think this problem will end. Ever.

In case I REALLY did finish collecting all the dolls, then I would actually finally have so much money and time to dash at the beginning of events to buy lots of expensive clothing that I`ve been dreaming to own for them.

    19. ahhh..I'm not sure if there will ever be an ending to having all the dolls that you want. Companies are constantly making new ones. My list keeps on getting longer and longer..

    20. Whether or not I have all the dolls I want, I find it important to enjoy the dolls that I have. I like buying dolls. I like the endless possibilities of a blank doll. I like creating certain looks for my dolls, but I can also pick a doll I already have and restyle it instead of buying a new one. Although I like buying new dolls, I don't need to do it to enjoy the hobby and when money is not spend on buying dolls, I can use it to get other things that make me enjoy the hobby (think photography equipment, craft stuff, props, clothes, etc.)
