Zombie Tinies - Bad Taste?

Mar 9, 2010

    1. I personally love the idea of such a doll! I like doll customizing and modyfying! I did one doll like that and loved how it turned out!!!!
Do what you want to do ^^

    2. I think that's awesome! There is a msd here somewhere that is made to be a skeleton!

    3. Actually my doll Pestilence, is a pukipuki (the 9cm tall one) and I also have a Bambicrony tiny, named Zรถe that is also an undead. (I have other size dolls that are like this as well)
I really like this theme: Zombies, and never had any problems about offending people (at least not I was told about).

I say everyone who enjoy this kind of doll, should go for it. It doesn't matter wich doll size they choose. The owner is the one that must be happy about the doll and not any other person, right?

P.S.: I really wish my english skills were better so I could participate more in the debate area, I like to read this kind of thread.

P.S.: Thank you for remembering my humble little doll, Tsukidoll. It's an honor to me.

    4. Without the story, not so much, but with the story... sorry to say, but that is kind of bad taste. If it was just a random little zombie, that would be one thing, but to make it and think of the story you have said... I don't know about that.

    5. This is EXACTLY what I thought! I think this is a wonderful Idea! I would love to see more people doing Modifications to their BJDs that have a creative twist rather than a million that look the same as the girls I went to highschool with. But I think of them as art so I don't know if that's what you're going for or not.
      But you've got my vote!
Make cute BLOND zombie children! "Village of the Damned" style!

    6. I don't see a problem with it as long as it doesn't resemble JonBenet

    7. I think it's really up to you, if you know to yourself that your doll does not represent something/someone (especially if it is offensive, or a murdered victim in that matter) I say go ahead, be happy and make her what you want her to be... ^^ (you and your friends my not share the same interests/taste in everything*)

But if you really are bothered by this circumstances, I must say think about it.
personally, and it is not that I hate zombies, it's just that grotesque or macabre figures/characters are not kinda my thing...

    8. What a cool idea, I personally love zombie things and lets face it JB is not a zombie so i think its ok and, as long as you dont run around and show the ramsey family i don't see the harm.

    9. I think if you were basing it off of Jonbenet then it would be in bad taste...

But theres something in that concept of this little dead girl who- even though she's dead, she acts the way she does when she was alive. It has some good potential in it. Maybe it needs to be pushed a little further ? Not in an intense way but try to make her likeable. (Unless your going for unlikable)

    10. Maybe you could still run with the idea (I would love to see a zombie tiny!) but change her appearance so she doesn't resemble the person :) I know it wasn't intended, but you shouldn't have to give up on this idea - just change it a little :)
      ~Sarah V

    11. Not at all. The resemblance isn't intentional, so what's wrong with it? I suppose if they really do look that similar, you might want to change something, but only for the sake of not offending other people- ultimately, if you're ok with it, there's nothing wrong with it. I don't see what the problem is, really, but I can understand why someone else might. I think a cute zombie is an awesome idea, I love things that combine horror and sweetness, and blond curly hair with blue eyes on a cutsey character are SUPER common.

Basically, if you're really worried that people will get offended, change something, and if not keep it.

    12. As someone said previosuly; bad taste is subjective. Personally, I don't like the idea of a 'child' being portrayed as dead and people considering it cool, cute, whatever. Those vinyl baby dolls people do on eBay and Living Dead Dolls etc in my opinion are really bad taste; I just don't like the glamourisation (if that is what it is) of a child or baby being dead. The reality really is not cute as I am sure you can imagine. However, everyone is entitled to do whatever they want; it's not really anyone elses business what you decide to to with your doll.

The design you drew sounds like a fairly generic little girl design, maybe a bit manga-like in style, so I wouldn't be concerned about any similarities between your concept and the murder of a little girl you barely knew. Big eyes, small chin and blonde just sounds like a cute little girl really. It might have been the suggestion of pagent clothing that drew your friends to make the assosciation.

    13. I think it is totally fine! however, I think most of the effect you can do by make up. If you need to do a big modification on dolls, I would say good luck! I really have no idea how the work load would be, but I believe would be a lot.

    14. As lot of people here, I think it is just a doll. YOUR doll.

Just do whatever you want with it, and if you want to make a zombie baby then go on, don't be influenced by some comments of your friends. Because those words they told you were bad taste, not the underlaying idea you had. I don't really like zombies (I don't hate them either), but as I said... c'mon, it's a doll, if I don't like it I won't look at it.

    15. a little morbid, but silly. a real zombie baby = no just no....

Oddly I like Monster High Ghoulia, she looks classy, yet nerdy cute. I keep trying to stop myself from buying her since I don't have any MH dolls or clothes in that size.

    16. I think it's adorable! Then again I was the 1st grader who dressed up as a dead prom queen... my teachers were always worried about me. But I really want to see your tinny! You have stated that it's not going to look like that girl, you might have to do what I do when I show pictures 'hey this is just a sketch, the features will not look the same, but here's the jest." then show picture. And again I can't wait to see her!

    17. It's your doll you can do what you like with her. But really when the Zombie Apocalypse comes there will be Zombies of all ages. You're just being realistic really! :P

    18. I'm so glad you said this, it's something I'll remember.
I plan a zombie msd in the future, inspired by DD Anne's Alice in Underland white rabbit tiny. In her story her heart rotted away but she gets a new one. This is my way of coping. Don't zombies represent something dead inside, but still walking around? I don't think it's in bad taste at all because it's representational, allegorical. It's not literally loving dead bodies.

    19. Exactly what Piyoko said. Have you seen those Living Dead dolls?

I think the people who said that are a little over-sensitive. I see nothing jaw-dropping insensitive about it. Because hey, if there was a zombie outbreak, children and old people would be the first ones to get bit. It's just realistic! XD
