Reason for choice:

I really wanted this dead twin thing to happen, so I reluctantly replaced her already extant sister and bought both Light and Shadow versions of Onyx so I could get this girl.

Best Points:

The resin color is SO GOOD for showing off the sculpt.

Worst Points:

Horrible joint engineering. Useless elbows.

Onyx was the June 2008 Monthly Doll and featured a new hand sculpt with long finger nails and two head sculpts (one open-eyed and one "Romantic") as the special details, which was largely panned for being underwhelming at the time since fantasy parts were at their peak popularity. The light and shadow visual concept and the original fullset outfits were inspired by the game Shaiya.

Lyris and her twin sister Delphine were kept isolated from the rest of the family and home-schooled by their mother, who believed that their absent father was an agent of Hell and would be coming to collect them someday. This would have been a perfectly ordinary story about a delusional parent doing serious psychological damage to her children had she not actually invited a demon into their home and offered him one of her teen-aged daughters. Lyris made sure she was the one selected, thinking she'd be more capable of surviving than her more docile sister, but she badly underestimated the situation and eventually died giving birth to her half-demon son, Grey. Her spirit is bound to Delphine who is sometimes aware of her presence but is unable to see her.
