    ☢ The Story ☢
On a snowy winter day, in a country tipping towards civil war, a mercenary finds a young girl fleeing from the government.

Boris Aristanovich has never had much of an opinion on the political tensions that permeate his country. He gets paid to fight the tsar's quiet war against the rebels, and that's all he cares about. That is until he finds Nadezha Orlova, the daughter of the rebels' missing leader, hiding in his truck. Nadezhda offers Boris a job: bring her to the hopeful safe-haven of Vostok, and be paid up front. A good job – except for the part where it would put him up against the men of a god-like emperor. But Nadezhda is just a small girl with no voice and more magic than anyone knows what to do with, and Boris finds himself caring for her more and more. And when Vostok proves itself more traitorous than they had hoped, Boris goes on the run with his new adopted daughter, into a future fraught with uncertainty.

    ☢ Comments ☢
She has the most clothes out of all of my dolls. Many of them are from Alice's Collections, though some were made by me. Fashion in her verse is heavily inspired by the 1990s, so I try to stick to that as much as possible. Her primary colours are pastels, preferably pink, so a lot of her clothing is very girly. Since her country is very cold, the style tends to be a bit more conservative and warm.

She is joined by a cute little mystery creature her mother made her, and a bag containing jewels to fund her flight and a notebook containing a collection of notes of a distinctly magical nature...
  • Name story:
"Nadezhda" is a common Russian and Ukranian girl's name that means "hope." "Orlova" is a surname meaning "eagle." "Lyubovevena" is her proper matronimic, but she since being adopted by Boris she often goes by Borisevna.

☢ Everything Under the Sky ☢

Nadya is the main character of my short story, "Mercenary's Honour." Her birth mother, Lyubov Orlova, was highly regarded politician and mage in her country under the old tsar and enacted several controversial reforms. When the old tsar died and the current tsar took the throne, several progressive magical politicians, including Lyubov, were arrested. This was the tipping point for a revolution, and though it was quickly mitigated, Nadya was sent on the run with little more than a notebook containing her mother's research notes and some jewellery to sell. By coincidence, she hid in Boris' truck and he took her in.

Nadya is an incredibly powerful mage, and is something of a savant as well. She is also unable to speak, although the exact cause is unknown, even to herself. Instead, she uses a combination of her country's official sign language and one of her own invention. Because of this, she never fit in at any of the schools she attended and generally doesn't get along with children of her age. Lyubov taught her the basics of quantum magic, and Boris is teaching her how to fight.
